  1. Yep. Look at my bag, my driver sucks so I stick with the 3W. I can hit that 220 consistently. Sometimes I even hit it straight! lol
  2. That would be the good stuff.
  3. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the replies. If you look at my signature the only joke there is the bag - the clubs are real! I can't hit the driver very well at all but I can hit that 3 wood about 220 fairly consistently and by that I mean if it goes straight it goes 220. I still have an inconsistent stroke so I have mishits which are usually slices although I'm starting to straighten that out. My plan is to buy a 3 wood or hybrid now and as I said in my intro reward myself with a driver when I break 100. I have a friend who is in love with his Hibore XL and I'm leaning that way. I was curious if I should look hard at the HiBore fairway woods and hybrids to keep consistent in my long clubs. Based on the replies I think I'll look around a bit more before I jump but I won't rule them out yet either!
  5. Pot meet kettle. LOL
  6. I'm in the market for woods and hybrids this winter and I'm wondering if I should match the make/model for driver/3 wood/hybrid. Everyone seems to have all the same irons in a matched set but I see a lot of people have a different brand driver, fw wood and hybrid. It seems to me having the same manufacturer would be an advantage in that the clubs would matched and therefore more consistent. Am I off base here?
  7. Fuente's are good. My cigar of choice these days are Rocky Patels. I favor the Honduran or Nicaraguan cigars as IMO they are more like Cubans. Dom Reps seem to be very harsh to me with the exception of some very expensive brands.
  8. 'Bout time to bump this up again I think! I'm a big fan of Balvenie: 12 yoa, 15 yoa, Doublewood, Portwood. They're all very well made. Glenfiddich is good as is Glenlivet. I am partial to the single malts but JW Black is good and I learned to drink Scotch on JW Red. I have an unopened bottle of 18 yoa Macallan I received as a gift when I retired from the Coast Guard. Not sure when I will open it, saving it for a "special occasion", just not sure what that will be but I'll know it when it happens.
  9. I live on a golf course so I get pretty much all of the balls listed in my backyard at one time or another! If I buy I buy cheap as I'm not too good yet and I can't see paying 50 bucks a dz for a ball I will lose. I will say I have used the ProV1 and I really do like them. If I ever get to the point I only lose a ball occasionally I will probably buy them but in the mean time I will play "founds"!
  10. Moose Drool, on tap of course!
  11. My toughest shot is between 50 and 90 yds out. I need a gap wedge
  12. Hi Gortyl! I just moved from St. Louis to Charleston. Funny thing is I didn't play the 4 yrs I was there but a friend came over here to visit an we played a couple rounds and Boom! Bug bit me again! lol See ya around the funny farm.
  13. Good for you ChiChi. I've worked one club at the range a few times as well just to get my swing down. Seems to have helped me. About your question on wrist exercises, get a small dumbell - 2 or 3 lbs. Place you arm palm up on your thigh. Do 10-15 curls using just your wrist, flip your hand over and do the same thing raising your hand up. That will strengthen your forearm and wrist. You can also get a tennis ball or something like it and squeeze it to build hand , wrist and forearm strength.
  14. Hi everyone. My name is Don and I’m a chili-dippin, skull-hittin hacker. If I’m not hitting banana balls I’m hitting worm burning duck hooks. My swing has been compared to an old woman chasing a mouse out of the house with a broom. I can’t count the number of times I’ve sworn I will never pick up a club again and then… Then I hit the shot. You know the one; it feels good all the way to your heels. It flies pure, just like you envisioned it would before you swung. You watch it draw gently around the fairway bunker to give you a nice easy 7 iron to the green. Or the bunker shot that comes out high, lands soft and trickles down to the hole for an easy tap in. That one shot just sucks you right back in and you realize you’re hooked. So after hitting that one shot last Memorial Day weekend I’ve decided to stop goofing off and learn to play the game the right way. My goal is to break 90 by next summer and be consistently in the 80s by fall, but first I need to break 100! I intend to reward myself with a driver when I break 100 and a set of irons when I break 90 3 times. I look forward to swapping lies with all of you. BTW, I typed this very slowly just in case the foursome in front of me last Sunday is reading this.
  15. Legend Oaks, I guess this is my home course even though I'm not a member, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm trying to decide if I'll play enough to make it worth the investment. It's a challenging course with lots of water in play. You really need to place your shots or you will get in trouble. http://www.legendoaksgolf.com/golf/p...egendoaksgolf/
  16. I'm retired from the Coast Guard and I now work as a Port Engineer for a ship management company.
