  1. When I was checking out driver specs, I saw some with face angle close/square/open. I was wondering how does this actually work. Say with a close or open faced driver, when I'm setting up I will just naturally align the face square to the target. Duh! Why would people spend $200 more to get a "TP" version of a driver when you can just set up the driver with open/square face? Am I missing something here?
  2. you seem like you are buying stuff all the time. :p let me know how it works on the course.
  3. I wish I had looked at used clubs before I bought my irons.
  4. 135mph ........... ball speed :p can't be more honest
  5. thanks for your answer hawkeye i'm thinking about getting a yes putter
  6. i have the same problem too more serious hence my handicap what i try to do is stand tall and keep my chin up during the entire swing
  7. I've searching for a new putter. This question came to my mind after seeing so many people have a Cameron in their bag. What are the real advantages other than it looks awesome and feels soft due to the soft carbon steel it's made from?
  8. that really depends on if these shaft fit you or not. are you experiencing a big loss of distance with same lofted club? that might be a sign that these are too stiff.
  9. good post i went thru a fitting at big box store. didn't find it helpful other than getting the length and lie.
  10. mats are too hard. my elbows hurt after a few range sessions. i might only practice tee shots from now on. practice on putting/chipping green are way more beneficial, i believe.
  11. if you went thru a proper fitting session and they suggested you shorten them. I would go ahead and do it. If you just did some online fitting with some static numbers, I wouldn't shorten them yet. Instead, I would make a 1/2" mark on the grip and start playing them by gripping down. See how that works out for you. When you are ready to cut them down, take your clubs to a PCS certified clubmaker and get it done there while making sure flex, swing weight, lie are also adjusted accordingly.
  12. are you explaining how this "golf" game is played? if you could, please elaborate.
  13. great explanation in details! some questions about pitching do you choke down? any wrist cock? is it just like a really long chip but with shaft pointing to the sky at setup?
  14. i have 3 wedges excluding PW. So if I'm at 95, 80, or 65 yards from the hole. I can just take one of the wedges, make a full swing, and i'm there. do you have a distance within 100 yards that you have trouble with? how often do you use your 16 hybrid in a round? These are the things you should consider.
  15. I tried looking at the hole. I tend to manipulate my wrists if I do look. But bowling thing thing is a great idea. I'll give that a try. Thanks. I'll keep on doing it. I never paid attention to Baddeleys routine. It is so fast. I'll try that next time. I did realize the ball return thing was no good. After many successes with it but no correlation on the real green. I'll start with 2 ft. and go thru the same routine. Build some confidence. Thanks for the advice.
  16. i meant short game as wedge play, bunker, pitch, chip, etc. excluding putting.
  17. I did a forum search. Couldn't find anything related. So delete if it's repeated. Anyways, as the topic.
  18. i have a putting mat with ball return at home. i spend a lot of time on it. i can make 100 3 ft putts straight without too much problem. but on the real green i have trouble making short putts even at 3 ft. i have no confidence at all. i don't know where to aim nor how big of a stroke to make. i either missed the hole by an inch or blew the putt 3 ft pass the hole. so i started doing the mickelson drill put 4 to 5 balls at 3ft form the hole and see how many i can make continuously i can't make pass 20. most of the time i missed at 3rd or 4th putt. this really sucks. on the other hand, my lagging is quite good (to my expectation). i can usually lag long putts to 6ft or shorter. however if i leave myself more than a tap-in, it spells 3 putts. so i average about 36 putts per round
  19. take my word back karsten feels muffled. i like how the i-series feel. more clicky when i hit the ball
  20. why should i? i'm not getting paid to use any company's equipment in fact i have to pay money to get golf club whoever pays is always the boss ever heard of an employer "loyal" to an employee?
  21. has anyone tried the golf scopes? it's about $15. you have to see the whole flag sticks to measure distance. just wondering how these work.
  22. i have a 8' long putting mat at home. i purposely lined up myself 45 deg open from the target line and swing my putter across my body line but with club face square. the ball still travel pretty straight and went into the hole. so club face has bigger effect than the swing path. i hate to say this but r7 said something that's right...
  23. how about picking up a 48 and a 56? 4 degree gaps between your wedges.
  24. good thread. little bit off topic but i did some number crunching and realized it wasn't hard to get to 18 handicap i setup some goal for myself: 2 GIR per round (since my ball striking sucks) 16 Pitches/Chips 3 Putts per GIR 2 Putts per Missed GIR seems easy enough? my downfall is taking more than one pitch/chip when i miss green and not getting the ball close enough for 1 or 2 putts. i'd like to see some stats from high teen handicappers
