  1. Hey, glad to hear you've made the journey down under. Thanks for the recommendations. If you head back to NZ be sure to check out Cape Kidnappers ( http://www.capekidnappers.com ), Wairakei ( http://www.wairakeigolfcourse.co.nz ) and Kinloch ( http://www.kinloch-golf.com ). A bit pricey but fantastic golf courses with stunning views.

  3. I finally received my Ogio Recoil bag this week, ordered in January this year. I had narrowed it down to this, the SM Four 5 and the Titleist 14 way divider. This won purely on looks and the strap (Shoxx) system. Yet to carry it for 18 but initial impressions are that the diamond divider system works great and the bag is definitely quality (nice materials, colors arrangement). Don't quite know where I'm going to fit the Bushnell rangefinder bag though. The bag is plenty heavy enough though so will make sure not to stack much in the way of extras into the bag. Early days yet but don't think I'll be regretting the purchase. The bag does seem to hang fairly low but I'm sure I'll get used to it, as with the "bounce" of the Shoxx strap system. Thanks to previous posters re different club arrangements for the Ogio diamond system. If you're in the market for a full 14 way divider carry bag, I definitely recommend the Ogio Recoil.
  4. Sounds like its worth a crack. I just look at the front of the ball I'm hitting but same principle. Be careful about not getting too steep in your effort to connect cleanly with your irons lest your driver follow suit.
  5. Again, thanks for all the info. Sounds like theres plenty to choose from. I think after a couple of days in San Fran we're staying closer to Napa to should be able to get some quality golf in.
  6. Thanks for that advice. I think a trip to Napa was on the cards for other obvious reasons so may be able to get the women to do some wine tasting while we work up our thirst at Silverado or Sonoma Mission.
  7. Thanks for all the suggestions. I think Monterey will be a little pricey for me & I'm looking to keep it somewhere between $100 to $200 per round if possible. Pebble Beach is on my to do list but this time around I'll have to skip it as theres no way I'm getting that one past the wife.
  8. Yep, hear what you're saying but I'm willing to bet those annoying little tabs will be less annoying than my clubs getting all tangled up as they do now. Driving me nuts!
  9. Me and several mates (all decent / capable golfers) are travelling to San Fran in June (from New Zealand) for the US Open. We will want to play at least twice while there. Happy to travel away from the city to get to a decent course. Suggestions for courses please?
  10. Get out there and try a few different models. For me I havent found anything else to rival the spin of Callaway Jaws MD wedges...but I havent tried ALL wedges out there. I compared Titleist Vokey (Spin Milled non conforming), Mizuno MP T11, Cleveland various models & the Callaways won out on spin which was the over-riding factor to me given my home course firm conditions & fast greens. The flip side to that is soft balls (Pro V1/Penta etc) wont last more than a round with these wedges & you'll be picking pieces of ball out of the grooves. I did compromise slightly with my 56 deg wedge & went with the Callaway Jaws CC version. Great feel & just seemed to be the right one for me. Also a lot easier on the balls.
  11. I wouldn't rule out the Ogio Recoil either. I've got that on order & seems to be right up there with the grom xx & SM Four 5.
  12. Same question I've been going over. Have decided to go for the Ogio Recoil in Siberian color. Havent got it yet so dont know how it will perform but IMO its the best looking bag out there.
  13. It was the Four 5 vs the Ogio Recoil for me. Recoil won on looks but would have been happy with the Four 5 too.
  14. Theres a reason so many play Titleist Pro V1 / V1X. Its not always (or even usually) anything to do with joining the masses. its because they perform. You dont have to be a pro to notice the difference, especially around the green where I believe these balls really earn their reputation. Granted, theres a lot of good brands, but I think youre cutting off your nose to spite your face by not playing Pro V1's just because lots of others do. Have a look at all the sticks in your bag. I guarantee you're not the only one using them either.....
  15. IMO the moisture wicking material (Adidas climalite etc) are the dogs balls. It can get pretty humid in summer (Auckland, New Zealand) and I find that when I start sweating other shirts (cotton etc) tend to restrict my movement in my swing as its sticks when sweaty. No issues with the climalite & similar type moisture wicking materials. I wont wear anything else now.
  16. I'm waiting on an Ogio Recoil to arrive. Been waiting a long time as the siberian color wasnt available for a while. From what I understand its a stand bag designed to be used on carts as well. No difference to me, I very rarely use carts & prefer to walk. Probably a little on the heavy side but the 14 way dividers will make up for that. Sick of all my clubs not fitting in my bag.
  17. Been wearing them for about 6 months now, very comfortable. I walk all my rounds and have no issues whatsoever. I have notices that they seem to pick up & hold leaves etc which you have to clean out every now and then. A good shoe all round.
  18. IMO its Pro V1 hands down, buts thats personal preference & based on my game. I feel the main difference is close to the green with chips & for me I feel the Pro V1 lets me attack the pin from those positions whereas the Srixon doesnt seem to grab quite as much on those shots. Both good balls though.
  19. For me its probably Titleist Perma Soft. Good combination of quality & price in comparison to other top gloves & can be found on e-bay for around $10. Retail here (New Zealand) for about $35 so I'm sticking with e-bay for now. Also like Srixon (Cabretta) & Titleist players gloves.
  20. I usually play ProV1 but just won a dozen NXT Tour from Titleist (Australia & NZ) sweepstakes, so looking forward to giving them a try & see what difference (if any) I will actually be able to notice. I'm picking the only noticeable difference will be around & on the green.
  21. I'm still waiting to get the Ogio Recoil (Siberian) from the US. Its not sold here in New Zealand. Interesting to see everyones different ideas re set up, & looking forward to a bit of experimentation. Does anyone else have the recoil & do you regularly carry it? Interested to know thoughts re weight; too heavy etc
  22. I went from the 909D2 to the 910D3 about a year ago. Both are nice drivers but I really prefer the 910D3. The (slightly) smaller look appeals to my eye better and I have gained distance and definately more accurate. I cant say I adjust the driver at all (A1 setting) as I am happy with the spin/launch/carry etc. I upgraded in the shaft to the Proforce V2 and therein lies the secret to it all I believe. Get the right shaft. I was willing to pay a lot more for an upgrade shaft (IF I NEEDED TOO) but the Proforce V2 was the one for me. I would have been happy with a stock shaft too but the numbers werent that great. Every time I pull this driver out of my bag it feels like a new toy, so yes it was definately worth the coin.
