I actually bought the polka dot pair before this high school golf season started: Btw, I won both meets I wore them in shooting 35, and a 37. Winning helps make the joking around easier.

I'm looking for getting a new golf bag for Christmas. I was surfing through the net trying to find some nice looking stand bags. The Taylormade TMX stand bag caught my eye. I think it looks great, but I'm wondering if the white will get dirty easily. If it does it would be a major turnoff. Just curious to see if anyone has had prior experiences with this bag to see how you like it. Here's a link http://www.taylormadegolf.com/accessories_bags.asp Thanks, Lane

What are your strategies for Par 5s?
HartridgeKing replied to titaniummd's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Usually I hit driver off the tee and if its reachable I usually always go for the green in two, unless their is a large water hazard I don't think I can carry. If that's the situation I will lay up to a full swing wedge distance. -
What are your strategies for Par 3s?
HartridgeKing replied to titaniummd's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
If its under 160 yards with favorable conditions I usually aim right at the pin, but if its really windy or their is a lot of trouble I just try to get on the middle of the green. -
This is the Cubs' year to win it, this is probably the best chance they've ever had. Look at the starting lineup: Dempster, Big Z, Harden, and Lilly. The Bullpen is stacked too: Howry, Jeff Samardzija, Marmol, and Wood. The starting lineup is great too. I'll be surprised if this isn't the year, because if this is not, then when will it be?

Welcome to the sandtrap, where are you located in Eastern Iowa? I'm in Delhi, which is about 10 mins from Manchester.

How did you get started in golf and how old were you?
HartridgeKing replied to oreodawg1's topic in Golf Talk
Haha yeah, it was a last minute resort kinda thing. He knew all the people that worked at the clubhouse and they frequently checked up on me. And no, mom was not to be told of this. -

One day, when I was six, my mom was out of the country on a business trip and my dad had a golf tournament. So instead of hiring a babysitter or having the neighbors watch me, he took me to the putting green and gave me a jr. pitching wedge and a putter. Haha. I spent about five hours that day on the green and I had fun and wanted to go golfing more often. So whenever my dad had tournaments he just took me to the putting green and gave me a wedge and a putter, until I became old enough to actually learn how to play the game. -
Driver Shaft Broke, What Now?
HartridgeKing replied to HartridgeKing's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the offer, but I called Taylormade and all I have to do is send in my club and they'll give me a 9.5* head with a Fujikura shaft for no cost at all. -
Driver Shaft Broke, What Now?
HartridgeKing replied to HartridgeKing's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think I'll test out some new drivers, as I have been wanting a new driver for a while. Back when I bought the R580 XD I was 12 and since then I have grown about a foot and am about 50 pounds bigger, not to mention I've knocked about 25 strokes off of my handicap So I think the best driver and shaft options for me have changed greatly since then. -
Today, as I was playing a round with my dad, I was on the 1st tee box. I went up to hit first and on my backswing I heard a slight crack, but I didn't stop my swing, and on the downswing I hit the ball and then the club and most of the shaft flew down the fairway as well. The shaft broke 6 inches under the end of the grip. It's a Taylormade 580 XD and I've had it for about four years. I am trying to figure if I can get it replaced, or whether I am better off buying a new driver. Suggestions?

Carlos threw a no hitter against the Astros. It was awesome, first for the Cubs in 36 years ago. It's looking good for the Cubs up 7.5 games with 15 left. "Their singing Go Cubs Go..."

Last night, I shot 3 under par 33. Driving sucked but was sticking my irons and wedges. Also made everything within 10 ft on the green. No bogies and three birdies.

That is a lot of stuff compared to what my team gets. We get: nothing

Ours was last Saturday, it's just a one day of 18 holes tournament. I started off par, par. Then i got to this stupid hole that I usually par or birdie. It has 2 creeks running across the fairway. I ended up in both of them and quaded the hole. I ended up shooting a two over par 72. Our course has two long par 5s that aren't easy to birdie and quite a few long par 4s. Some of the pins were almost a joke. I ended up getting 5th and was disappointed. If I would of just doubled that hole I would of won.

I Have Officially Made the Switch

Getting a 5-wood to spin back would be amazing. The lowest club I could get to spin back would be a 7-iron. I do love Pro V1's and V1x's though. -
For me, I've tried most of the putters and hands down I thought the best was the XG 2-ball center shaft. Gave me the easy straight back straight through stroke I wanted.

At our sectionals, last spring, we were playing a very hilly course with some pretty steep hills. As I was walking up my fairway I see one of my teamates and I yell at him to see how he is playing. He looks over and trips at the top of the hill and the next thing you know he is tumbling down the steepest hill on the course golf bag and everything. Funniest thing I've seen. At an invitational meet two years ago I was in a group and a guy was walking along a pond towards the green of a par 4. Thinks it would be funny to throw a top flite at the swan with her babies. Yeah, not a smart idea. He comes close to hitting one of the babies and the mom comes running out of rough, chasing him down the fairway. The guy was yelling and screaming like a little girl.

To hit a green in regulation on a par 4, you have to land the ball on the green on your second shot. On a par 5, you have to be on the green in 3, and on a par 3, you have to hit the green on your tee shot. Being on the fringe does not count as being on the green.

Looks like he's been traded to the Jets. What a shame.
