lostgolfball.com - AS Advertised, Mint Quality
nellycuz replied to achadha7's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Just ordered 1 dozen 2014 prov1x 5A quality and was pleased. 2 or 3 had a very small cosmetic blemish but nothing you would notice at first glance , the others were near perfect. Same color as new balls. A few had logos or markings but that doesn't bother me much. Next time to avoid 5$ shipping, I"m going to buy with a friend in bulk so we can get free shipping...paid 27$ for a dozen prov1x 2014. Still a great deal when they are practically new. Will buy again -

Health issues: need Fitness and Diet help
nellycuz replied to mdaugherty24's topic in Fitness and Exercise
I'm 27 yrs old, weighed about 227 in January about 5'11, athletic build. Used to play soccer in college at a weight of 185. I've lost 20 lbs since January by doing a few things. -Make sure to get to the gym 4-5 times a week. Before you lift a certain muscle group, run a few miles. I've been doing interval training where I run at 6.0 mph for 2 minutes, run at 8.0 mph for 2 minutes and repeat until I've run a total of 2 or 3 miles almost every time I go to the gym. Then I'll lift a muscle group like chest, biceps etc. Usually a 45 min-1hr workout depending how I feel. -DIET is probably the biggest thing however. I LOVE chicken wings, pizza etc. I used to go back to back to back to back to back meals for days eating like crap. Cut out the fast food all together. I do maybe 1-3 cheat meals a week, usually on the weekend. I'll drink rather heavily one or two days a week. Eat a lot more fish/veggies in the evenings. I've been counting calories on my non cheat days. Keeping it well under 2,000 cals. After I go to the gym after work I get home around 730-8 and just have a protein shake as my dinner. Saves some calories because I'm usually not hungry enough to eat a full meal after working out. On my cheat days, I eat really light meals for breakfast and lunch if I know I'm going to have an unhealthy dinner. Helps minimize damage. Those are two of the biggest changes I've done to help me lose weight. I still got some ways to go but maybe you can gather an idea or 2 from what has helped me get to where I'm at! Good Luck!! -
I got really POed at a golfer the green behind me.
nellycuz replied to Derrick Parker's topic in Golf Talk
I would have picked the ball up and chucked it in the lake. Have a few choice words while I wait for him to get to the next tee box, depending on his size, we would go from there. A little further and the dude could have caused serious brain damage. I agree calling the pro shop but who knows what I would do if I were actually put in the situation. -

Holy crap, I'm gonna play golf with Graeme McDowell!
nellycuz replied to David in FL's topic in Golf Talk
Was just reading through this thread, congrats David! I use golfnow a lot too and was wondering how many rounds you booked last year to get an opportunity like this? Of course you get an advantage on us northern folks with being able to golf year round...but I was just curious? Thanks!! -
This weather has me super depressed. I get days off during the week..I go to the gym, come home and sit and watch the golf channel. Watching them play in Cali adds to my depression. In central Ohio, I played about 2 weeks ago it was almost 50. Looks like it will AT LEAST be another 2 weeks before I even think about playing outside again. I have an indoor range close to my house, but that doesn't suffice. Getting closer and closer to moving to Florida.

Weekend Trip To Michigan Late April '14: Need Advice
nellycuz replied to nellycuz's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Thanks for all the replies! Things have changed as I have thought more about this since your responses. We are going to go either the 2nd week of May or late summer/early fall now. I'm trying to figure out if staying at a resort is the best way to do this. For lodging, all we need is the basics: shower, 4 beds, fridge. Most of the resorts look like we are getting and paying more than we need, which the extra $$ could be spent on golf. Only thing is, I like some of the unlimitted golf perks with the stay and play packages. I want to include at least one of the two courses: Forest Dunes or Arcadia. I think they are about 90 minutes away from eachother. Include one of those and then a couple rounds at some other decent courses. Which course has more options near by, Dunes or Arcadia? Well maintained, decent price courses. Forest Dunes or Arcadia will obviously be our highlight of the trip. What do some of you who live in Michigan think our best route would be? Stay in a resort and pay for more upscale lodging? Or stay in a hotel close to Arcadia or FD, then play some surrounding less expensive courses? Looking to play 1 round Friday afternoon, 2 Saturday and maybe 1 Sunday on the way home from MI to Cbus, OH. -
Have been looking and getting quotes from various resorts in Michigan. Going with a group of 4-8, and don't want to break the bank but don't want to play any goat tracks I can find in Columbus, OH. Any suggestions? We are looking to play 18 Friday, 36 Saturday and 18 Sunday, so an unlimited package might be what we're looking for. I've gotten 2 quotes from Treetops and A-Ga-Ming resorts. Ming was the least expensive so I'm kind of leaning towards them. I'm waiting to here back from a few others like Boyne. Anyone have any suggestions? I've read good things about Sundance golf course at Ming.....Let's hear some others. I've read the other threads on Michigan golf but they are kind of dated. Let's hear it!!! Thanks ahead of time!!

I've read through most of the posts here and I didn't see one course I played last year for the first time in Springboro OH called Heatherwoode. Golf Digest just rated it top 100 public courses in the U.S. a few years back. Great track with A LOT of water. I think 15 of the 18 holes have water....well maintained, great staff and clubhouse is really nice. Sits in a subdivision with nice looking houses. Overall great experience. You can find it on golfnow or ezlinks for under 30$ in the summer! Check it out. I live in Cbus and golf around 2-3 times a week when the weather is right (april-sept). I've heard good things about The Quarry in Canton so I will be playing that this year. Played Eaglesticks for the first time last year and thought it was a nice layout and challenging. Someone mentioned Aston Oaks in cincy, I played once and enjoyed it. I have also played New Albany Country Club and that place is amazing. The course is great but the whole facility is something special. Been trying to get on Murfield as I go to the Memorial every year. Anyone with hookups please let me know ;)

Great advice in that thread, thank you. I read the whole thread and I'm definitely taking too long of a back swing. My right elbow bends way past 90 degrees which is another no no. I will try to take another video in next couple of days with these adjustments and let you know results. I have been reading a Golf Digest latley and it shows pictures of Bubba's swing. He brings club back so far and I guess that's what I was trying to accomplish. Sounds like going back 70-80% is key in the backswing, and doesn't sacrafice any distance. One question though, do you hinge your wrists at the top of your swing to get the club face where it needs to be at the top? I read once you should almost if not see your clubface out of the corner of your left eye right before you start downswinging....

I've been Playing Golf for: 12 years My current handicap index or average score is: 84 My typical ball flight is: baby fade The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: duck hook off tee I Apologize for the slight angle this is at...best I could do at the time! Videos: Beginning of the year I used to have a slice sometimes. I changed my swing a bit to keep my hands on the inside in the backswing. But now I'm duck hooking. In the video I hit it pretty good but it's like 1 out of 3 or 4 I hit good sometimes with baby fade sometimes straight and sometimes with a slight draw. I want to consistently hit draws with both my irons and driver. My driver however is much less consistent though. This was the first day on the range with my new R11s. Wanted to see if there are any drills to do so I can swing consistently and have a predictable ball flight. Any suggestions are welcome.

I hate when someone says "you're alright" when I slice it into the trees. "You'll be fine there", even before the shot has landed.....I'm like dude that's in the heather or in between 7 trees...I won't be "fine"....BLAH

I'm a utility dispatcher working 12 hour shifts....some days are slow so I try to read up --12 hour shifts are nice because I'm always off on 2 or 3 weekdays a week = cheaper golf = faster pace of play= a happy 25 yr old.

Chipping and spinning the ball.
nellycuz replied to joekelly's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Sometimes if I'm lying in the fairway say 10 yds in front of the green with a lot of green to work with. I take my 60 and go after the flag. Ball in back of my stance and I have a really low trajectory but if I hit it right, it will take two bounces and stop. I've had several up and downs already with this shot and have become really comfortable with it. Out of the rough it's a different story. The pros usually know how much spin is going to come out of each shot, just a matter of their read on the green and where to land it. -
Hey guys, just joined the site after looking around in for several days and think it's a great resource to gain knowledge about many topics surrounding golf. I look forward to posting here much more. I'm getting ready to purchase a new iron set and will be going to hit a few after work tonight. I started playing when I was about 14 with a hand-me-down set. Improved my game a lot but seems like when I went away for college the $$ wasn't there for me to play often. So I started back up my senior year (21) and have been playing ever since. I'm 25 now and 2 years ago bought the Nike Ignite 2 iron set. I didn't do much research and went up to Dick's and saw they were cheap so I pulled the trigger. Those irons that year brought me to about a 18 handicap from the low 20s. I've been playing much more lately and currently am a 12 handicap breaking 80 last year about 5 times. Got my first hole in one last year with these clubs (see avatar) and another eagle from about 130 yds. I'm looking hard at the Razr x Black irons from Callaway. I will be testing these out tonight. I like the sleek look and several of my friends hit Callaway irons and have nothing but good to say about them. I assume this is a good jump from the Nike Ignite 2's and could get me breaking 80 more often. I was also looking at the RBZ irons as well as the Nike VR's. I don't try to work the ball much (however not opposed to working on it) but I sometimes struggle to get these irons (especially longer irons) to go where I'm aiming . I tend to have a little fade when I hit them correctly which I don't mind if I can do it on a consistent basis. Just would like some thoughts based on my handicap, if these irons can get me breaking 80 more often. Any advice would be helpful.... Thanks
