  1. A gossip site... If it was the Times, or Washington Post, but all i'm seeing are bad news sources, with nothing corroborating their claims. He did wrong, either way. But until cops confirm that he was arrogant or belligerent, it's all a load. Notice actual news sources haven't reported on this arrogance? Because it's not corroborated.
  2. I actually just checked and picked them both up. Thanks.
  3. Well, if it's anything like Canada, he can refuse the breathalyzer, but must take a blood test. But again, cops did not say he refused the breathalyzer. If you are using TMZ as your source of news, then.... sorry? It was more than likely a mix of meds.
  4. Number one, I had no idea there was a free rules of golf app. Do you have to be a member of the USGA? Because i'm Canadian, and Golf Canada doesn't give us free anything besides a crappy quarterly magazine. I didn't have a current rules book with me, as I was forced out of the game for almost 3 years due to a workplace injury. I encountered a situation that had never happened to me before and asked a simple question.
  5. I figured it was meds, and while it still bothers me, i'm not as dissapointed as I was when I thought it was alcohol, just because I know how meds can affect you without even realizing it. I went through third degree burns to my left leg, and I did the same thing as him (though I wasn't caught or charged) for a few days thinking I was fine, before once becoming suddenly very tired at the wheel, I mean nodding off like a heroin addict. I had to pull into a parking lot and call some friends to come pick up me and my truck. I didn't drive again until I was off the meds. But it was a reaction I wasn't expecting. I had been tired throughout the ordeal after my surgeries, but I thought it was just my body telling me I needed rest. I had no experience with pain meds, or the anti-anxiety (Clonazepam or some such drug) meds they gave me after my workplace accident, and didn't know how they were affecting me. I'm not defending Tiger, just like i'm not defending what I did. Had I been caught, I would have rightly been charged, just like Tiger. And if you think driving at 3am post-surgery when you've slept most of the day and can't sleep at night is something out of the ordinary, I don't know what to tell you. I still go for a drive in the middle of the night when I can't sleep sometimes. And in Tigers case, he is apparently also a known insomniac.
  6. of course he's on painkillers, the man just had back surgery. But that doesn't excuse a dui. Also, police have said nothing from what i've seen. News reports have said a lot. Still, he should be nailed to the wall like any regular joe for this.
  7. There is one major reason i'm totally against these call-ins, and that is because not every shot is shown on TV. I think it's totally unfair, because it sets up targets on the backs of the best who are in the limelight, and gives a free pass to those who aren't getting the coverage that the best are. Im sure this has been mentioned already, but I didn't want to read all 50 pages.
  8. I'm just saying, I don't understand why cheating 'scandals' are scandals. I love my wife, I don't cheat on her, but that doesn't mean I don't 'want' beautiful women I meet. Perhaps it's a difference in views, or a different in age that gives us a different outlook, but like I said, when I was young, we couldn't wait for away games to leave the gf's behind. If you think Tiger is the only married womanizer on tour, i'm almost positive you would be sorely mistaken. Superstars live a different set of rules than us, and Golfers are held to this higher moral standard than any other athlete, it's ridiculous. (I'm not talking about golf rules, i'm talking personal life). Having been born with an abundance of talent does not mean you need to be a rolemodel, Athletes are the LAST people we should pick as role models, because a majority of them are just like Tiger. Had this been Jordan in the early 90's, either this, or the cheating scandal, it would have been a non-issue as long as he scored 30 points a game. But the press hushed things up for Jordan (his gambling, cheating, and partying were well known), because he was just that good. But from Tiger we expect more, just because it's golf. I don't get it. He was as human as the rest of us before his fall, and he still is today. I don't get riled up about an athlete doing something stupid, because I know what it's like to be just a university athlete, so I can't imagine what its like to be a superstar and avoid all these things, on the road constantly, women throwing themselves at you, women willing to jump in bed with other women with you because of who you are. It would be hard for any mortal man not to fall in that trap.
  9. I had no rules book on me, and I have never, ever encountered a situation where an animal stole a ball right in front of me. I've lost balls in the fairway, all sorts of stupid stuff, but it was just a situation I didn't know offhand. I haven't played since before the 2016 rules were finalized, and hadn't read the rules book in years (looked up rules, but never read cover to cover), which I stupidly did not have with me. Like I said, it was just a situation I never encountered, and had a good idea of the ruling, but no actual evidence and nobody who could ensure me that I was doing the right thing. I'll hand in the card wednesday, and all will be fine, and I won't be handing in a card i'm not sure of. Thats why I asked on here right after my round. Edit: I don't know why it says 9, this is the first time ive been above a 9hcp since my teens. I'll need to adjust that once I have enough rounds in.
  10. He had/has vices. What do you expect from one of the most famous athletes in the world? Regardless of sport. I played university hockey here in Canada. Athletes get inflated ego's, we womanized and partied and cheated on gf's for years, we just weren't superstars, and the time passed, we had to grow up. Tiger could have his pick of millions of women, so he did. I don't hold that against him, he committed no crime. People around him inflated his ego to the point he held godlike status, it was a long fall from grace, but I don't hold his personal life against him, and never did. But DUI, that's far worse in my eyes.
  11. I guess i'm wrong, its saying Booze. **** Tiger, get it together. **** sakes.
  12. Gowan Brae Golf and Country club shot an 87 yesterday, a 93 today. A long ways from where I was 3 years ago, I need to cut 15 strokes off my game. My wife (who I met, and was married to at the golf course) is playing as well as me, though she wasn't forced out of the game for three years, and that's never happened. I did birdie a par 3 and a par 5 yesterday though. Though, she wasn't forced out of the game for three years.
  13. I'm betting it's prescription painkillers and he didn't realize how out of it he really was. Insomnia after surgery is normal. Painkillers after back surgery is normal. I'm in no way defending what he did, but I know after I suffered 3rd degree burns I drove on painkillers after I could get around again too, and had no idea what a risk I was taking, because I was taking them as prescribed. After a week or so, I realized when I suddenly got really tired driving. Then stopped until I was off painkillers about a month later.
  14. Because the pro wasn't there and its a bunch of university kids working in the clubhouse for the summer. Normally I would have asked the course pro, but he's not there Mondays or Tuesdays. They were more focused on hiring gorgeous brunettes who look good in golf skirts and tight tops than people who knew what was going on. It's a beautiful course, but sex sells, not knowledge. Especially at a course 75+% men over forty.
  15. This years 5 piece ball is the best i've ever hit. I just bought 6 dozen after playing two rounds with them, then two with the ProV1. I especially like the feel off my blades, and I averaged 5-8 yards longer per club based on on my gps.
  16. As slow as the tour plays, how the hell does anyone ever get put on the clock is what I want to know. Jesus, the waiting they go through must be excruciating sometimes. Gotta slow the pace so the camera's can get all the big names on tv... I hate that.
  17. Thank you very much. I was about to start reading through the rulebook to see if it said anything, it's been a few years since I read it.. I probably still will, but it's nice to know everyone's instincts weren't wrong.
  18. Was playing a straight par 4, water on the left, bunkers up the right side along the woods, and hit a beautiful drive to within 100 yards, great shot out of the fairway. Now, I was playing a foursome, and we all saw this. A fox came out of the woods, stole my ball, and ran back into the woods. The others in my foursome all saw it, all agreed I should take a free drop as close as possible to the original lie, but I didn't hand in my round because nobody at the clubhouse could give me an actual ruling on what I should have done. The only answers I got at all were "Take a free drop, who cares?" I care though, and I would like to know the actual ruling.
  19. Man, exciting final stretch.
  20. For now all my wedges are Edel. I didn't give those or either of my scotties to my bro with the rest of the bag last year. but those are stunning.
  21. I go for a lesson on Tuesday and on Friday to clarify above. He watches me, tells me where I'm improving, sends me video in slow-mo using lines in blue and red to show where my arms, club , and body should be with audio over the vid explaining in depth what to work on every Sunday. Sunday and Monday I hit balls, with his vid on my phone, and hit ball, after ball, after ball. Work on the changes. Tuesday he sees what if anything I corrected, shows me physically how to do it at quarter speed, and makes me practice, and then I practice an hour Wed/Thursday, lesson again Friday. I went to to a bunch of pros until I found one I liked and who really put effort into it, and has the teaching ability to get it ingrained in my body and head. Every shot I'm going through a checklist in my mind, do this this and this while avoiding this. Grip, wrists, arms, shoulders, hips, feet. I'm going through everything kinda like my own pre launch check. Saturday and Sunday is just playing golf. Warm up with half a small bucket, then to the course.
  22. Twice a week with a coach for 1 hour, and now daily range practice and rounds of golf. this was also my schedule pre-injury.
  23. Well, those 6 months of indoor practice with my swing coach definitely helped. I shot an honest 91. I was extremely conservative, and nailed a lot of putts. It was a stunning day, I'm not shooting in the 70's like I was three years ago, but I feel I can get back there, with lots of rounds and continuing lessons. I found it weird using a cart though. Feels wrong.
  24. Thanks. I was a member here for some years in the past. I'm not sure what happened to my posts. Eric said something about a board change (When I tried to login my account said banned and I had to contact the admin to find out why). I always loved it here. But it's hard to deal with when you can't play. Unfortunately though, walking more than 9 holes is out of the question. Too hard on my foot. So i'll be carting it from here on in. I never used a cart without my dad before (he's 60 and can't walk 18 anymore with his knees).
  25. Three years ago I suffered 3rd degree burns to my left foot and left leg at work, after tripping and slipping into a mould of molten Zinc, about 8 inches high filled with 6 inches of freshly poured zinc some idiot decided to place it on the floor behind me. (I couldn't hear him, I work in a lead/silver refinery of which zinc is a b-iproduct, and its extremely loud) on the floor behind me. When I stepped back off my platform to slag is, I stepped in his mould, it splashed into my boot and up my leg, and I eneded up burning 70% of my leg below the knee. Skingrafts, infections, problems started mounting (thankfully Canada has generous workers comp and my loans were all insure for sickness and injury), I had lost feeling in different parts of my leg, therapy wasn't working, alot of nerve endings were just fried. I walked with a slight limp because of the burned nerves, and the skin grafted skin tears, blisters, and bleeds constantly. It wasn't until I got into an argument with my physical therapist because after a year and a half she had not improved my ability to be more mobile even a little bit, that my doctor referred me to a specialist sports therapist (Thankfully, again, paid by compensation). By this time, I was extremely depressed, I've always been athletic, play hockey all winter, golf all summer, been in the gym since I was young, I take care of myself. I had missed my first season of golf since I had started years before (and got down to a very low handicap with the help of weekly lessons, and constant practice). He taught me to instead of focusing on the feel of the nerves, to actually feel the muscle movements of each action. To learn how every movement felt in muscles, and practice it. We started with walking fast, then slow jogs, (and tons of different exercises), then running circular track, and sprints. He had a specialist come in and make me a specicial garment of a proprietary material which protects my foot (not those stupid jobs socks they give to patients, this is genuine sports stuff). Woksafe NB (what we call our workers compensation) agreed to pay for the socks for the rest of my life. At this point I'm missing my second season of golf, but i'm getting better. Over the winter I borrowed my old clubs from my brother, and started to work with a swingcoach at the indoor teaching setup he has twice a week. I've been discharged from physical therapy (I'll probably see a psychologist the rest of my life), and I bought all new clubs and gear, membership, and the Nike Vapor Fly Pro's were the last piece I was waiting on to be delivered (6'4" so I had to have them fitted and checked to lie and all that jazz), and they came in today. Tomorrow morning I golf. I'll never be as good as I was before I was burned, but I most certainly will strive for it. I was a 2-3 handicap when I got injured. I'm sitting here wondering if I can even break 90 now :/
