More than I wish I had but thankfully less than some of my friends. Minus the 2 cars, I have roughly $10k. Paying it off though so it's not that bad.

What would you do if you won the 20 million lottery?
bogeyme replied to ks8829's topic in The Grill Room
You the man. Are we talking 20 million after taxes or before taxes? If I got 20 Million in hand this is what I would do. 1) Buy me a house 2) Pay off my parents houses (kid of divorce) 3) Buy me a new set of clubs 4) Go on a month long vacation just playing golf 5) Donate money to my favorite charity American Diabetes Association 6) Do something for the kids in the neighborhoods that don't have much 7) Build a nice golf course that seniors, and children can play cheap and any attractive girls my age play FREE!!!! After those things above if there's any money left I'll put it in the bank and hopefully live off of it. -
You'll have that. I had that happen when I was looking at used cars. Went in one day with a buddy dressed in shorts and a t-shirt and got no help. Went in a couple days later in khaki pants and a polo shirts and had to carry a club to beat the salesmen off of me. Sounds like I'd find a new shop to buy my clubs.

I too enjoyed the sound they make as you walk across the lot or the cart path. My first pair of golf shoes (hand me downs) had metal spikes. It wasn't long though until I changed over to soft spikes. I'm not sure why I did though. I think I might have been planning to play a course that required soft spikes. I can manage with out the metal spikes though. No big deal.

I was actually thinking the same thing when I made my post. Wasn't sure how it made any difference in whether to play or not....well wait just a second

John Deere Classic - who is watching and who will win?
bogeyme replied to crazygolfguru's topic in Tour Talk
I tried watching the "replay" on the Golf Channel from 8:30-11:30 pm est last night but gave up after I seen the horn warning for weather the third time. I'm not sure if they were having film problems or what but I seen the horn go off three times and then seen the same shots three times and gave up. Were there only 3 guys playing in the tournament or was there some kind of problem with their "coverage"? I'll probably tune in again this evening unless they are going to show me the same stuff from last night. -
I'd be all for it. Obviously your boss likes you so a little time on the course with him/her will earn a few extra "brownie points".

Sounds like a busy couple of weeks. Good luck in those tournies and finish strong in the State Amateur tourny.

I can't wait. I'm hoping the weather cooperates and doesn't rain or anything. If it does I hope it rains early and pushes tee times back so I don't miss out on too much. I'm not sure yet what my approach is going to be, If I will follow a grouping or if I will just pick a hole and watch everyone come through. I guess I'll decide that on Friday. Only two weeks and counting.

Thank you Sir (and all the others here that have or are serving) for your service.

A couple of times I've been out I've noticed this. It wouldn't be that hard to use your wedge or what ever club you hit out of the sand to smooth out some of your footprints. Yeah it's not going to look as good as a rake would do but atleast it's better than leaving the footprints.

In the past most of the time I played was on the weekend with a 4 some and it usually takes about 4 hours to walk 18.

In the next two weeks I have big plans in the golfing world. Ok so maybe not so big plans but I'm excited. On the 18th I've got a company golf outing at Cookscreek Golf Club and then the following week I have week passes to the Nationwide Tour stop here in Columbus. I'm hoping to get out maybe Friday through Sunday but definetly on Friday and Saturday. I'm planning on skipping out of work early Friday and catching most of the day's action and then hopefully catch almost all day Saturday. I attended the Masters tournament about 8 years ago so this will be my first tournament in a long time. I'm pretty pumped. The best part is I won the passes from the radio so it's not even going to cost me anything to go. So what's everyone else looking forward to?

Take this man's words to heart. Right now I am living that. For my Jr and Sr year in High School I attended a Career/Technology Center and "majored" in Computer Support. My Senior year I was offered an intership with the local United Way. After I graduated that intership turned into a job that I didn't take seriously. I enjoyed the job but since it was my first job I wasn't serious about it. Plus I had decided that I didn't want to do anything "techy". I was going to become a History teacher. I love history. So this was just a job to get me through until I started college (which my Jr and Sr year I had decided I wasn't going to college because for what I was planning on doing in computers you really didn't need to go to college) and maybe get me through college. Well one Friday I was called into my bosses office and was given the "it's not you it's us" speech. Looking back I know it was me and not them. I was given a great opportunity to get out of the retail world and got my current job with the company my mom worked for. 7 years later I'm sitting in a cubicle hating my job. Every morning I wake up thankful that the weekend is one day closer. Then when the weekend comes it's over way too fast. Now I'm in the situation that to continue to live the life that I'm use to (which isn't all that glamorous) I can't leave my job because I make too much and without the college education that I decided long ago I didn't want, I'd take too much of a pay cut to "survive". At 16 money means a lot, mostly because you don't have much of it. Most of the money you have is given to you from your parents and I'm sure you might earn some of it too. I know at 16 I was working because I wanted to buy a car. Money isn't everything though. So what you don't become a doctor, I'm sure your parents won't disown you over it. I'm sure you've hear it before, but I'll say it anyways.

Good point. In that case yes I'd let them try it. But I wouldn't let just anyone use it friend or not.

My Uncle (a lifelong Volunteer from and still lives in TN) seen the towel that came with the set and said "Atleast it's the right Conference if nothing else."

Many moons ago, my family took a trip to Disney in Florida (I can't ever remember if it's World or Land) and I picked up a Mickey Mouse ball marker. It's always on the handle of my putter so I never have to worry about leaving it at home. I'm sure the hole on the top of the handle isn't for that purpose but the little "spike" on the back of the marker fits perfectly into the hole so that's where it stays. After years of use the hole as worn a little so I might have to move the marker to another safe keeping spot so I don't lose it. I also have some plastic ball markers from many different places. I've got a couple from a Kentucky Wildcats set my dad and step mom bought me for my first birthday after they moved to Kentucky. Too bad I'm a Vols fan (along with OSU). I've also got some with my cousin's companies logo, and then I've just got some plain ones that came with a golf coozie type thing that I got. The "coozie" looks like a golf bag. I use it as a pencil holder.

Is a $500 club nessacary for a 14 year old? You'd have to be crazy if you think I would let someone use a $500 club that I just bought and hadn't had the chance to give it a proper break in. Either you live in a ritzy neighborhood or those parents really like that kid. I know my parents would not have bought me a $500 driver at 14 mostly because we didn't have that kind of money to just throw around but also because I was just starting out. I wonder what kind of irons he's playing?

Do you have any golf balls that you will never use?
bogeyme replied to GaijinGolfer's topic in The Grill Room
If I get any kind of logo ball I keep them. I got a dozen golf balls with Disney Characters on them. I kept one ball of each character and then used the rest of them. My parents have brought balls back from vacation for me. I've got a sleeve of balls with Hula Girls on them. I've also got a ball from both Pebble Beach and Spy Glass Hill from when my parents went to San Francisco on vacation. I think the one ball I have that is my favorite though is the one my sister brought back from her trip to Ireland, Scottland, and England. It is a ball and tee set from St. Andrews Golf Course. -
Me either. I'm sure he's forgotten more about golf than I knew to begin with. This was pretty funny. Thanks.

My Grandpa always says when he leaves a putt short "You've got to get it up to get it in."

Welcome aboard. I'm from Lancaster. I grew up in Columbus though. Which Slazenger clubs did you pick up? I'm looking at getting some of them. Congrats on your low round. The Memorial starts tomorrow. Of course they are calling for rain this weekend too. Go figure.

Your thoughts on possible new clubs.

Sorry. I guess I could have thrown in there that they were $79.99 a piece. Thanks for your response. You were more than clear now that we are both on the same page. The clubs that Golf Galaxy is selling are the 2007 models. I was looking through the ads in the newspaper yesterday (Sunday 4/13) and Dick's Sporting Goods is selling the 2008 model Driver, Fairway woods, Hybrids Buy One Get TWO Free. Yes I said Two free. So I looked at their website and seen that they had the 2008 irons listed on there. This year the Iron sets are 5-PW with a 3 and 4 Hybrid. So IF I were to luck into a deal later this year where they are selling the D/FW/Hybrids still for BOG2 what combination would you go with? Should I pick up maybe a 2 hybrid if they had one? Oh and the Drivers are $200 so I'd spend $200 on 3 clubs. Can't beat that deal. I don't think. -
You left that one wide open but I'm not even going to go there. The only women I've ever golfed with were my Aunts and they are pretty good. It sucks to be off to the right of the green, your aunt just in front of the green and see her chip in to birdie the hole and you chip onto the green and roll 10 feet past the hole.
