  1. hopefully most of the snow is gone this weekend... i'll be in Champaign for classes and the U of I courses will be calling my name.
  2. i'm a little of 6'1" and actually play my irons .5" shorther than standard with a 2* flat lie angle. my driver is standard and my 3W is 1" shorter than standard.
  3. i tore my meniscus in my left knee playing golf last august. decided to try to go the way of strengthening the muscles that support it and avoid surgery as long as possible. when i was in high school i tore my rotator cuff in my right shoulder... just gave up baseball with no surgery, should of had it done. i have the range of motion that i used to... and i have a near freakish range of motion. anyways... my shoulder does come out of socket every now and then playing golf... hasn't happended for a few years, but it's enough to make any onlookers sick if they see it happen.
  4. hmmmmm..... Erin Hills in WI is long from the tips. Purgatory in IN is LONG. i'd say anything over 7500yds. is long. my home course is a little over 7300yds. and i find that to be in my comfort range. there are a few holes that are too long, but you're gonna get that pretty much anywhere you play.
  5. it's all in one persons perspective on it. i'd consider myself decently long, driver usually gets out 285+yds. 3W gets out in the 260-270yd. range. i'm one of those weirdos who carries a 2i (and a blade 2i at that) and i usually hit that 230-235. i can smash a PW over 150yds. but thats not what a wedge was made for, i'm pretty comfortable hitting a smooth wedge 140yds. distance plays a huge role in the modern golf game, the courses are getting longer, the forced-carries are getting longer.
  6. Meridian H.S., Macon, IL class of '01 several colleges between then and now... currently commuting to Southern Illinois University on weekends and should be done there soon, then either U of I or Iowa State for a masters
  7. a year or so ago i was playing in a tournament and on the 1st hole the 1st person to putt knocked his lag to about 3-4" from the cup... he then, thinking it was just another round, he walks up knocks his ball off the green in disgust and bends over to pick it up. the other 3 of us were speechless, i told him he better hole out and that it was a tournament round... he said he felt like a moron, but i'm sure glad he did it because it cut the tension for the round.
  8. i play Whistling Straits, both the Straits and the Irish courses, a few times a year. i get to both TPC Deere Run and Cog Hill #4 a few times a year as well... i'm really looking forward to playing the redesign of Cog Hill #4 next year. and Weaverridge in Peoria, IL is a great course that the PGA has looked at for a tournament in the past, but i don't know where that stands.
  9. had a '05 Grand Cherokee before the Civic SI... liked the Jeep, don't really know why i got rid of it.
  10. i drive a '07 Honda Civic SI coupe, habanero red pearl paint. love it.... plus the wife can't drive a 6-speed. the wife has a '07 Civic EX sedan.... we didn't plan on having kids for awhile... few months after we got out new cars she became preg., her car is too small for a family car and we wouldn't even consider taking my car anywhere. if my new promotion goes through soon, i will be looking into getting a Infinity FX50, Hummer H3, or Escalade.
  11. i used to spend my summers in Enid... there's a links-style course thats relatively new (built in the last 10years) called Phesant Run i believe... i'm not quite sure, but they might be semi-private. there's a decent 18-hole course in Medowlake Park and a little 9 holer on the far east side of town. i'm not really too sure about the outlying communities. but Stillwater isn't too far away and you can hit up Karsten Creek which is in the "top 100 you can play"
  12. i've played there a few times. lots of elevation change. course is long for a par 71... but still manageable.
  13. i play there a few times a year... pick the right tee box and it's not too bad of a course. a few forced carries. all the greens are massively undulating... lots of break on the putts, and they're usually fast... if it's still set up like the US Am. qualifier on Mon. was then GOOD LUCK. if you keep the ball in play and hit the greens or keep you misses to a minimum you should be ok. have fun and post back on what you shot and how it was... i'm actually thinking about playing there on Sunday.
  14. over the past 2 years of owning a SkyCaddie i've been compiling a list of my yardages. on the average i find myself hitting 292yds. i have hit the ball over 350yds., hell, i've hit a 340yd. 3-wood off the tee in a tournament this year.... but that doesn't mean i'm gonna say i have some astronomical driving distance averages.
  15. got up at 4:30am and was on the road by 5:30, got to Whistling Straits a little before noon, tee'd off at 1:30, got done at 6:30, left the course by 7:15, stopped in Chicago to eat around 10, was home at 2:30. that was a LONG crazy day. i plan on doing it again over the Labor Day holiday.
  16. my home course is about 18miles, the others i have memberships too are 20,20, and 26. not too bad really. i have on a whim drove to Kohler, WI to play and from my driveway to the parking lot at Whistling Straits is a little over 330miles... or roughly 1 tank of gas. usually on the weekends when i'm not busy i'll drive anywhere from 1/2hour to 4 hours just to play somewhere different.
  17. $780/year. 4 courses, the one i play the most just opened 3 years ago, it's a Raymond Floyd signature course... links style. another of them hosts the Duramed Futures Tour's only "major" championship, and the other 2 courses aren't too shabby either.
  18. -6, 65 today at Scovill Golf Club. didn't get into any trouble off tee which helped. hit 17/18 GIR, and 31 putts. this is my career low round so far.
  19. I love playing Deere Run! fun course to play, reasonably priced, and challenging yet not intimidating. i played it from the tips back in May and it still didn't play too bad... no Sunday pin locations though, but still had some tricky greens.
  20. my strongest part would probably be LW approach/chip/flop shots. i can pretty much count on getting up and down with that club in my hands. my driving is typically pretty strong, but as of late it has disappeared. my iron play is generally pretty good, i can go out and count on hitting 60%-75% GIR. i have a pretty solid game, but the big thing that can kill me is my tempo, on occasion i get too fast and lose everything.
  21. they seem a lot stiffer than the DGs, but only because they're butt stiff. that takes a little time to get used to. i have a naturally high ball flight and the PX gives me a even higher ball flight, not to the point of ballooning like the DGs, but they def. get up fast and stay there. i probably gained 1/2 a club distance wise. to me they seem a little more consistant. if you wanted to try the shaft i think the All Seasons Golf Learning Center has some demo irons w/ the PX shaft.
  22. Hickory Point is playing really good now... except for the 15th hole being shortened from a par 5 to a par 3 because all of the flooding they had last month. Redtail Run is by far the better course. Signature Cup was pathetic for us this year... but Bloomington has some of the best golfers in the state.
  23. i've played there a few times... i live down in the Decatur area. usually end up in Bloomington a few times a year... usually to The Den though.
  24. take some long pants and a pullover windshirt just to be safe.... i played the Straits course the 11th of last month and had never seen such a cold June day in my life. tee'd off at 1:30 and it was 50*, by the time we finished it was in the low 40s. forcasted high for that day was in the low 70s. whatever the weather you'll be sure to have a great time. i'm planning on going up again over Labor Day weekend... they're running a special where you can play the Irish course for $98.
