It isn't the SEC? Ranked SEC teams: Alabama (1) Auburn (7) Missouri (9) LSU (10) South Carolina (13) Other SEC teams that have been in the Top 25 (Georgia/Florida/Ole Miss) It is inevitable that some will fall out of the top 25 because they have to play each other. For example, take my Vols schedule this year. They played: Alabama (1) On the road Oregon (2) On the road Georgia (6 at time of game) Florida (19 at time of game) On the road South Carolina (11 at game time) Missouri (9) On the road Auburn (7) So 5 games with opponents in the top 10, three of them on the road (Alabama/Oregon/Missouri) Two more ranked opponents, one of them on the road as well. They had a brutal schedule this year and only one of those teams isn't in the SEC.

I think too many people are making the mistake of underestimating Bama because they aren't as flashy as Oregon/FSU. I know its hard to say the #1 ranked team is underestimated but I keep hearing people say Oregon/FSU would beat them. The real test for Bama will be LSU. After that game we will see what Bama really has this year. I actually think FSU is better than Oregon.

Disagree. And I wish they would change it at other levels too. Late minute drives are stopped with the 15 yard rule. If a QB goes deep down the field in the last seconds of a game all the DB has to do is knock the receiver down (Interfere) and the offense only games 15 yards. Basically, why would a CB ever let a receiver catch a ball 35+ yards down the field if he knows an interference call will only net them 15? Yes, the penalty will stop the clock but in this instance its the yardage needed to get into field goal range or a legitimate shot at the end zone that is important.

The Biggest Secret? Slide Your Hips
SloverUT replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
And in the case of this thread, and with 5 Simple Keys program, that is exactly what they do. I attended one of their full day instruction courses and learned a lot of information. They didn't try to teach me or anyone else there how to do "their swing". They simple pointed out flaws in our own swings and took action to correct it. I have been a much better golf since attending the instruction and still feel like I am mostly my own swing, just enhanced and improved. Some PGA Pros may do that, but we can't lump them all into one bucket.- 949 replies

Joe Montana may not have thrown it quite as much as you thing, nor did Steve young. Both of these guys were Rice's main QB. I picked a 3 year string for Stafford, Young, and Montana (their three highest Pass attempts per game seasons). Montana Averaged: 470 Pass Attempts per year Young Averaged: 456 Pass Attempts Stafford Averaged: 589 Pass Attempts The more humorous part of these totals is that one of the seasons I had to use for Stafford is a season where he only played 10 games. So if he had played all 16 that would have been an even higher average. So on a small sample size Stafford was averaging over 100 more ATT a season than Young or Montana. This is no way a discredit to Megatron or to boost Rice. Simply stats to look at when making a judgement.

What kind of budget are you looking at for your Irons? There are some really good Irons out right now and depending on your budget I think you could find something you like better than the 2.0's.

Awesome! I think I am highly guilty of the faked weight forward. Also, at first I thought the drill had something to do with skiing because the beach almost looks like snow at first.
-
If I was looking for a more sleeker looking iron yet wanted to stay in the game improvement area I I would look at the Mizuno JPX-825 regular, not pro. It has a very sleek look compared to the G20's and are great clubs. I still use the G20 myself but I may have gotten the 825's if I could have afforded them at the time.

There is some very strange logic in this thread. It amuses me!

You didn't break a "rule" of golf. This is really a personal situation as someone people don't like being left behind and some don't mind at all. In this situation it seems as if this guy may have thought it impolite for you guys to leave him behind. He also may have wanted help looking for his ball. Either way, no rules were broken.. he just didn't like the way things went down.

Need advice regarding upgrading irons...
SloverUT replied to jcash's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't know what the BB's look like so I can only suggest some irons based on appearance currently. If you are wanting a game improvement iron that doesn't have the bulky look I enjoyed hitting Mizuno JPX-825 If you don't mind the bulkier look I have really enjoyed my Ping G20's, and the 25's are nice as well. Those are just two options. But I highly suggest visiting Golfsmith (or whatever golf store you have) and trying them all out and see what is comfortable to you. -
And there is nothing anyone can say that will make me care if the guy playing with me is wearing a khaki pair of pants or jeans. All I care about is his attitude and having fun. This whole argument is ridiculous really. I don't see how people can be so torn up over what someone else is wearing, particularly when it comes to the difference between jeans and khaki pants.

Yes, they should lose their athletic scholarship. If the schools want to be on the side of the "nice guy" then perhaps they can offer the student some other type of scholarship. However, as it stands, athletic scholarships are limited. This is especially true in sports other than basketball on the female side. If the athlete can not meet her obligation then she is just holding up a spot that another person can take and fulfill the role. After the pregnancy is over the athlete may have the opportunity to regain her scholarship if she is still "wanted" so to speak.

Go back the next day and work on it again. Nothing else to do. Sometimes you play well, sometimes you don't.
-
And again I will gladly state that I am glad these type of people are so transparent. If you respect/disrespect me based on my clothing then your opinion is of no value to me. And I won't have to worry about how you treat me as I will not be around you. And for the record, this is coming from someone who wears slacks on the course. But I play with plenty of people who don't and have a great time doing so.
-
I do agree with this too. Skill level doesn't necessarily dictate fast/slow play. Some of the slowest rounds I've ever played (5-6) hours were because I was stuck behind skilled golfers who lined up every putt as if it were to win the Masters. And those types of groups have always given me the most trouble when it comes to playing through.
-
I am sure recommendations would work for some. But it would probably work to the extent that the signs at the ski courses do :). Most people are going to play where ever they can. For example, there is only two par 3 courses in my area. One is in really bad shape and the other is in great shape. However, the one in great shape is pretty dang hard and would shred beginners. Also, most courses aren't going to want to have the stigma of a recommendation for "Beginners/Bad players" play here..
-
No, there should not be. Public courses are for everyone to enjoy, not just skilled players. As far as I am concerned, as long as they let faster groups play through, which you said you did, then I am fine with it. Whether or not you want to endure it is a personal matter and it is obviously up to you whether you play with them or not. There are ways to speed up slower groups that you may recommend such as the +3/+4 rule. Basically, if they aren't in the hole by the time they are 3 or 4 over, they just pick up. Or maybe you can recommend playing best ball instead of 4 individual balls, which will reduce back and forth time. Either way, I don't care about a persons skill level as long as they let me play through. They paid the same money I did and I also can remember when I was really bad too!

Thanks erik. I was working on the overswing last night after watching the vids. I hadn't realized I was going so far back. Shortening my swing also helped me sync my lower half and get my weight forward better.

Was there a dress code at that range/course? The country club I belong to has a posted dress code for the range/course and I respect that. However, the few posts above specifically refer to courses that allow jeans, etc. If they allowed that type of dress code and treated you like that, then I'd never visit that course again. If they had a posted dress code, then it was still rude behavior and I'd have turned and walked out the door. There is always a range/golf course that will treat me properly in exchange for my $$. Either way, I don't care what I am wearing. If a course treats me disrespectfully because of what I am wearing, then I won't give them my hard earned money. Just the same as I won't visit shops/stores who have poor customer service. If someone shows up to a course dressed improperly based on their dress code they can still politely inform them of this information.

If someone treats me like trash because of the type of pants I am wearing I wouldn't give a damn what they thought anyway. :) Nor would I want to associate with them.

Ever Dream Of Playing In A PGA Tour Pro-Am?!?!?!
SloverUT replied to Golfingdad's topic in Tour Talk
There is so much I could do with $5,500 or even $29,000. I love golf but playing with a pro just isn't that high on my wish list. Hell for $29G's you could play the top 10 best courses in the country (open to public play) multiple times.
