I agree with Ebay although you must know what you're doing there to avoid being scammed. I've sold a pretty decent amount of stuff on Ebay the last few years and it's a great place if you know what you're doing. Currently Ebay seems to be swinging back to protecting Sellers more. In recent years, they went overboard with Buyer's protection and of course, scammers loved it. They'd claim Item Not Received, Significantly Not As Described, etc.....all with the hope that either Ebay or the Seller just rolls over and gives them a 100% refund or a partial refund. 1. First and foremost: if you sell on Ebay, you do accept Returns. Repeat that..........you do accept Returns. If you select that you don't, you're telling Ebay and Buyers if the item isn't what the Buyer expected, you don't want it back. Ebay will refund the Buyer their money (usually from your Paypal account) and not make them return it. ALWAYS select, Returns accepted. Scammers will move onto the next victim. 2. On items over $250.00 you must use Signature confirmation. Do not let the Buyer talk you out of using Signature Confirmation or you'll lose your Seller protection with Paypal. 3. Only ship the item(s) to the Buyer's Paypal address. Sending it to any other address will void your Seller's protection. If they give you a story about moving, not being there to receive it, etc......don't believe them. Tell them you must ship it to the Paypal address listed. They can always add one to it. 3. With an item so valuable, I would insure it heavily. If the Buyer claims that it was damaged in transit, tell them to Return it and once received and verified that it's the same item, you'll refund them. 4. Set your Seller's filters properly. Under Account tab, go to Site Preferences and down to Buyer requirements. I block these: a. Don't have a PayPal account - You don't want to run the risk of getting a bogus Cashiers check or Money order. b. Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s) - These are sport bidders & run an item up then don't pay. 2 weeks wasted. c. Have a primary shipping address in a location I don't ship to. - Sell to Continental U.S. Bidders only. No International including APOs. d. Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s) - Self explanatory. e. Have a feedback score of -1 or lower - Self explanatory. Good luck!

Did you happen to watch the U.S. Ryder Cup team on Sunday afternoon this year? j/k of course; they didn't bogey 4 in a row (that I can remember) but several looked very amateurish coming down the stretch.

Would that account for that much difference in alignment between hips and shoulders? Maybe I'm just overanalyzing it but the OP's hips and shoulders look nowhere close to each other.

Putting tips after receiving TERRIBLE news.
Pablo68 replied to cwaldo5252's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Sorry to hear that man. Looking on the bright side, you're a 36 handicap and this happened BEFORE you started the lessons. Get through your rehab then you'll be set to practice what you learn in the lessons. -
I think 'lining up the shaft' is relating to your lead shoulder down to the clubhead. It should occur just after impact meaning that the clubhead should bottom out just after you hit the ball. At least that's what I got from his statement and agree with it.
-
When I pull my short irons it's almost always that my alignment with my shoulders or hips are open. To help your setup, develop a routine that no matter what, you stick to. For me, I mimick Jack Nicklaus and align the clubface to a spot a few feet on my target line then align myself parallel to it. It helps me consistently put the ball position where I need it and keep my hips and shoulders square. Good luck.

I don't want to appear out of line but iacas, doesn't his alignment with the driver seem off? His shoulders appear either square or slightly open but his hips and feet seem aligned a bit to the right. For his PW, it seems right on but the driver seems off.

Putting help (need to start taking it seriously)
Pablo68 replied to SoundandFury's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I too, have been working on putting consistency after a round where I opened up with a 41 (had a triple and double) then hit the first 5 greens in reg on the back nine but three putted them all. It of course ruined my mental game and I managed to only hit one more green that round and three putted it as well. The one thing I found was that I wasn't maintaining constant grip pressure throughout the stroke and also had a little hip movement. I've been practicing on the steady grip pressure but found I needed to have a firmer grip throughout. When I tried to go with a light grip pressure, I started being inconsistent again. Put an emphasis on getting the clubface square at address as well as your alignment square. Then try to roll your putts over the first 3 feet of your intended line. You could try putting a piece of masking tape on the flattest rug in your home (make sure the tape is straight) then try to keep the ball rolling on top of the tape. Good luck. -
This. I also would add I want to see if a pro is totally off his game that day. I'm not saying I want to see bad golf but show everything. As you said, not just the guys in contention.

I've been struggling lately with the putter and think I've found the culprit. In an attempt at maintaining a light grip pressure on the putter throughout my stroke, I've developed a habit of inconsistent grip pressure. Once I start back, it gets lighter then on the forward stroke, I end up increasing my grip pressure which is leading to poor contact/direction. I know the greats advocate pretending like the shaft is made of glass but I guess I'm overduing it. It seems I do better when I keep about a 7 (out of 10) amount of grip pressure.

Is the Golf Equipment Business one big scam?
Pablo68 replied to Rick Martin's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
"A fool and his money are soon parted." Golf club manufacturers' claims of added distance play on people's egos (most likely men) because they realize that we have a need to compare ourselves with others. They realize there's a percieved power with being the guy with the furthest walk down the fairway. Sure the extra yardage helps but most people aren't honest with what club/shaft is best for their game. Again; machoism. "I use the X-Stiff shaft" yet their swing speed isn't where it should be to warrant it. So they are either dillusional or they'll outright lie about what they're using or how far they're hitting it. It's the reason you see guys with 15+ handicaps claiming to AVERAGE distances akin to that of the Pros. Same with asthetics. Manufacturers from all industries realize people want something shiny and will pay for the latest greatest. I typically buy used Cars and Clubs. I recently scored some Mizuno MP-T11 wedges off of Ebay that are new but I only paid about $65/club shipped. That is a great deal for basically the same technology as this years. God bless the people that will buy the latest greatest as they save thousands of dollars for those of us with patience. -
I've been on the range and had guys comment on one thing or another and I've suggested they try my clubs. Very few politely decline and most seem pleasantly surprised that they can demo a different club. Unless the guy's doing a Happy Gilmore slapshot with his own clubs, sure I'll let him hit mine. I've also had total strangers approach me and ask me to hit their club or a club they got for someone to see what I think of it. I always give it a try figuring I get to demo a club without having to go to a store.

I guess Tiger was using it as well. Maybe that's why he was so horny.

I'm a confrontational person so I say call them on it but tactfully. In my usual foursome, I'm typically the one offering shots on each side and typically I take money. We play for quarters and everyone is pretty honest and occassionally you'll have a questionable score mentioned. Usually, it's cleared up with 'wow; nice bogey. I thought you were in jail' or something like that. Then that gets them counting the shots and a stroke or two is remembered. We play skins so if I bury one OB or in the drink, most likely I'll declare 'guys, I'm in my pocket but am going to finish the hole by dropping up near you guys in the fairway/green'. Years ago, a pseudo friend and I played for money with some questionable scores being claimed. After catching him claiming a par after using a footwedge and picking up a four footer, I told him 'bets are off.'

What was your first set of golf clubs?
Pablo68 replied to cooke119's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My first set was a complete set of Dunlops from Walmart I think back in 1991. Once I got my swingspeed up, I started having problems with the driver which had a baseplate welded on. I started having a dimple in the center of it until finally it was trashed. I started having problems with the irons as well and bought a set of Tommy Armour 845s which I still have. Great clubs there. -
Ok, now I agree that hitting off mats sucks
Pablo68 replied to SoundandFury's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I hate the mats and if that's all that available to me before a round, I'll forego fullswing work and just putt/chip off to the side. -
I remember seeing a Jack Nicklaus vhs tape (Golf My Way?) where he stated he believed "you can't release the club too early so long as you move to your left side (for righties)." Seems a little simplistic but applicable. I focus on shifting my weight to my right side at the start of the downswing and usually I make a good/decent pass at the ball.

He's eating out less these days and isn't hitting the 'Y' that much.
-
Goal for 2013 is to lower my handicap down to 5 or less. Play smart and don't get cute. Slow down a little on chips and putts so that I quit throwing shots away.
-
I just switched up from ProV1s to ProV1x because I wanted less spin on the scoring clubs due to hitting near the pin only to watch it suck back a bunch. I found the ProV1x's to be slightly longer (maybe a couple yards) on irons and about 5-10 yds longer at times with a driver. They also seems to roll more once hitting greens with mid irons and on scoring clubs did the 1 hop and check or with a little suck back. No where near what the ProV1s were. That being said, the ProV1xs didn't feel very soft like the ProV1s. I like them but come summer I may switch back once greens get firmer.

Learn to swing fast first then dial it back a little to control it. Learning to hit it straight first then try adding speed I would think be more difficult.

Sound advice. Arnold Palmer...........learn to hit it hard first then work on accuracy.
