  1. Surely its common courtesy to ask the person putting if you are in the way and whether you need to mark the ball??? Thats what I usually do ask the person putting if I'm in the way.
  2. 609 yards Belton Woods in Grantham UK.
  3. I'm glad i'm not the only one, I've got 3 rounds this weekend so hopefully my putting can and will improve. My short game has always been the best part of my game and my driver the worst now its vice versa. To be honest I would prefer my short game be perfect like Big Phils and then worry about my driver last, but being able to hit my driver roughly 240-260yrds its helping me a lot, being in a distance where my short game doesn't have to be spot on. That's proberly why my short game has suffered and I don't hit my irons as close as I would like to the pin and then my putting suffers.
  4. I think the Mizuno wedges are a little bit light on the weight side, but it does depend on the player.
  5. The course will be packed following Tiger and Phil!!! Not good for the other players to be honest!!!

    Broke 90!

Well done, keep up the good work, next to break the 80 barrier!!!
  7. I've had a hole in one but it was on a course with an extra 3 holes across the lake. I still counted it as a hole in one, thing is I never saw it go in as there was a mound in front of the green and I hit it to the left and it roled down the banking and into the hole. The 3 extra holes are par3 holes about 200 yards for 2 of the holes and 95 yards for the first one. It was the 200 yards one I holed. So it doesn't matter to me if it was 2 balls, or 3 extra holes that don't count on the card its still a hole in one!!!
  8. Having played golf for about 3 years now, I've just begun to get good!!! Don't ask!!! lol!!! I've got to a stage where I'm on the green in 2 on a Par4 and putting in 2 and 3's, which to me is ok acceptable. But to get my score down I really need to be putting in 1's and 2's. I recently hit 83 and played the round in record time (2 hours 40mins) yes it was a rush as my friend and I was trying to beat the light. Now since then I've hit 86, 89, 89, 90, 103, 89, so I'm consistant, but one thing that worries me is that I get the birdie chances and don't convert them and I end up with a par or a bogie. I'm getting to a stage where I know my scores are getting there or thereabouts and I'm happy but I know there is more to hitting a good drive and thats the putting. I've been very good at putting up till the last 2 months and its not helped my scores, I want to be putting averaging 31 to 35 putts a round am I being realistic or too over ambitious??? Please any thoughts???
  9. What ain't broken don't fix it!!! I was thinking of having lessons this year as I hardly break the 100 mark. Now I've broken 90 and almost 80 so I've decided not to have any lessons. I've been playing for about 3 years now. I got a few lessons from a best friend who use to teach at the Belfry and that was at the start when I didn't know how to hold the club etc etc. I think personaly (don't kill me people) that if you have played for a long time and hitting consistently around 80 then I wouldn't go for lessons just to break the 80, I think it will come sooner than later.
  10. I'm doing the same I think, but it severely starts off left and comes round to the right. 99% of the time its on the fair way so I'm not too bothered. I line the ball up to my left little toe and not inside my left heel anymore, I find this alot better for my swing, and my swing is not a good sight to be honest!!!
  11. Hit 86 today played really well, my back nine was 3 over so I'm happy as the back nine is harder!!! Played some good shots today but still think I can play better. I have come down on my handicap the past few weeks, from 25.5 to 20.3, getting harder now but I know for sure I won't ever get into single figures, its all fun though!!!
  12. 83 my best score only did it 3 weeks ago hit 86 today though!!!
  13. When my friend was here in the UK he actually got to scratch whilst studying for the PGA @ Birmingham university and actually played a few qualifiers for his card. He is now in Korea, he always told me to one day use the odd number irons and the next time I go to the range use the even numbers. I've always followed his rule, never understood why though, but it has helped me a lot in my iron play, Im very consistent with all my irons. From my driver to my fairway woods, if I did not hit a good shot off the tee my irons always helped me. My short game has always been my speciality. I rely on my irons to recover alot and from what my friend taught me I am very grateful to be able to hit my irons straight even if my friends hit their fairway/drivers further. I've found that "playing the course" rather than attempt every shot "as a end all and be all" has made me appreciate that I don't need to hit my driver or my fairways all the time when I can reach the green in almost the same possible shots as my friends.
  14. http://www.leisure.birmingham.gov.uk.../pypehayes.htm This is where I usually play, but I am a nomad golfer, I travel up and down the country. I live in Birmingham, UK, and have had the previllage to play at The Belfry on all the 3 courses (Brabazon, PGA National and The Derby). http://www.thebelfry.co.uk/golf.cfm I try to play at The Belfry once a month.
  15. I think it has to be Tiger for me, but to be honest Jack given the clubs of today (technology) I think Jack would be on par with Tiger.
  16. I sell computer hardware in UK to the trade.
