Many are dropping the word "illegal" ...... "Hillary Clinton put Donald Trump in her sights. In a speech at the National Council of La Raza in Kansas City, the Democratic frontrunner for the presidential nomination expressed her displeasure with the Republican candidate and real estate mogul’s invectives against Mexican immigrants, many of whom Trump said are “drug dealers” and “rapists.” “It was appalling to hear Donald Trump describe immigrants as drug dealers, racists and criminals,” Clinton said. “He’s talking about people you and I know. He’s talking about people who love this country, work hard and want nothing more than a chance to build a better life for themselves and this country.”" - http://time.com/3956564/hillary-clinton-donald-trump-basta/ Either Time has reported this incorrectly or Clinton deliberately dropped the word "illegal". To me this is exactly the political double speak that I spoke of in the previous post. The dropping of the word "illegal" is a massive difference. It is not what the Donald said. He was referring to illegal immigrants. What does Hillary Clinton think about illegal immigrants? No-one is talking about immigrants only illegal immigrants. Big f'ing difference. Have yet to see the press question Hillary on this. Why shouldn't the Don be president after all you guys elected a Hollywood actor to be president and he never even ran a successful corporation :)

Bingo. I am Canadian so I don't have a vote but it is refreshing for someone in the political arena to say exactly what is on his mind. I am so sick and tired of hearing 99.999999% of the politicians (Canadian and US) talk at great lengths about an issue and in the end actually say NOTHING. The press is 100% useless in stopping this. So many times I have watched an interview and wished that the interviewer would actually say STOP the double speak and give me exactly what your stance is. This is way worse than having the balls to take a real stance and if someone agrees then they get their vote. Period. Frankly golf will survive without Donald and Donald will be just fine without golf. Finally I just wonder how many out there quietly agree with what the Donald is saying (maybe not in the manner he said it) but are not willing to either agree with it publicly or worst they feel they have to express criticism of the Donald because they need to protect their image be it for job, church or their standing in the community. As I've said I am a Canadian so I have no say in this but IMHO - a) Illegal immigrants are generally not the "best and brightest" that are immigrating into any country. b) Most likely the "best and brightest" are sitting in a long line up somewhere waiting to immigrate but the illegals are jumping the line and getting in ahead of properly screened immigrants. c) Countries need to control illegal immigration and it is a fundamental job of the government to protect the interests of their citizens in this respect.

Best summer deals in Phoenix/Scottsdale?
ay33660 replied to k-troop's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Quintero is a great course. -
Well having a six hour round as pointed out by jamo could force them to enforce it perhaps ????????????
-
Yes we do. We discuss a lot of things that may go against what has always been done in the game of golf. We discuss why you should not get relief from divots, why OB is not just a drop without the distance penalty etc. Just as this is a discussion board our group discusses a lot of stuff that involves taking golf further from its roots. Sometimes we actually see golf change like the new rule on when a ball moves on the green after a player has addressed it. And your point is we should not be discussing stuff like this ?????????
-
Ok you got me it was badly worded. I want golf to not have the influence of a caddy within the field of play just like tennis match that do not have coach's in the courts. Only the players should be in the field of play. This applies to doubles in tennis and foursomes in golf. Let the athletes compete by themselves without their coaches, caddies etc in the field of play. Much better now. Do you think there should be caddies?
-
Why should? - in my opinion I want to see the best player in terms of both physical ability and mental toughness win the tournament. If a player has a bad shot and cannot deal with it on the next few shots then I want to see that, I don't want to see the influence of a caddy calming him down. Again this is my opinion being expressed here I am sure you will have a different opinion. Yes you are correct that caddy's lining up shots is not exclusive to the LPGA but it just seem like almost every LPGA caddy does this while only a few does so on the PGA. At least to my untrained eyes.
-
The PGA could control that by assess pace of play stroke penalties. My point is that golf should be an individual sport just like tennis. Coaches, caddies etc should not be involved in the field of play. I know this would never happen but this is a discussion board. It is something my golf group discusses on a regular basis. Especially when it applies to the LPGA where the caddies even line up their shots ?????????? WTF the pros cannot even line up their own shots.

Personally I would like to see ALL professional tournaments like that !!!!!!!!!!!! If they can't carry the bag then allow the use of a push cart. If their play is diminished because of getting tired from carrying or pushing their bag then tough ............ it is an athletic event isn't it. Why should the pro golfer have someone there to calm them down after a bad shot or to guard them against a bad decision. Tennis players are on their own when they are playing. Why not golfers ????????? This way it is purely the better golfer and/or the golfer that spent more time doing his homework that will win ...... not the one with the better caddy who spent more time walking the course and doing his homework. Other than the obvious this is the way golf has been historically played, I have yet to hear a convincing argument as to why caddies cannot be banned from professional golf. This is my view on professional golf only and I know it is off topic. As for recreational golf I think a caddy is an great asset and would certainly speed up golf as they could tend to raking sand traps, filing divots etc. I have no issues at all with recreational use of caddies.

2015 NCAA Golf Championships Discussion Thread
ay33660 replied to Natural Patrick's topic in Golf Talk
Agreed the women were really slow too. I think if the penalties for slow play were applies more then the coaches would get more involved and work on improving the speed of play for their players. I mean why isn't speed of play part of coaching just as swing mechanics etc. PS at least with the women sometimes I don't mind if the camera has to linger longer .... thermal nuke flame suit on. -
2015 NCAA Golf Championships Discussion Thread
ay33660 replied to Natural Patrick's topic in Golf Talk
Watch about 30 minutes of the championship last night. Couldn't watch beyond that. The amount of time taken on the greens over each putt. I think it was the Pierce / Hoey match. The Pierce guy took forever over each putt, shot etc. Just couldn't watch any more. Hey I get it's the championship and all that but really how much time does it take to read a green. If these guys continue to play like this when they are in the PGA then I will end up watching even less golf than I do now! I'm sure will get blasted for this comment but it's my opinion. Oh .... I want to add that I also think it looks stupid for these kids to be pushing a cart. Flame suit on. -
GolfNow Rewards and Loyalty 2015 (What a difference a year makes!)
ay33660 replied to David in FL's topic in Golf Talk
Was in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. The good thing that GolfNow has accomplished is to push all the courses to provide internet booking. I booked great tee times on the JS Merriott Wildfire Palmer course and on the Dinosaur Mountain course at Golf Mountain. In both cases I was able to get the same deal as the Golf Now price by booking directly with the golf course. So by doing that it was actually cheaper because I don't have to pay the booking fee. I do however believe that if GolfNow were to fold it would not be good for the golf industry and for guys like me that golf all over the place and usually don't know where the good courses are. For a lot of the courses it is still cheaper (even with the booking fee) and easier to book thru GolfNow. I booked at Quintero Golf Course, Trilogy Vistancia and Legend Trail Golf Club using GolfNow. -
+1 Perfectly stated. Really should we expect any more.

I disagree with your statement. My course (private) has a very strict pace of play policy - " Please be reminded that the Club’s new Pace of Play Policy is now in effect. The expected Pace of Play is four (4) hours, ten (10) minutes. The time clock at the Golf Shop will be used as the official record of each group’s time. Each group will be responsible to have their timecard punched at the start and finish of their round. For additional information on this policy, please review pages 11 & 12 of your 2015 Member Roster. Please note that your confirmed Tee Time is the time that the group should be leaving the first tee rather than the time the group arrives at the tee. Following this practice will help the flow and pace of play throughout the day. ~ Thank you. " We utillize a time clock and timecards with the member of each group noted on the time cards. Board of Director resolution - " It was M/S/C that, as of May 1, 2015, the consequences for not complying with the Pace of Play Policy be as follows: First Offence – The Member(s) in question will receive a “friendly” letter/email from the General Manager reminding them of the Slow Play Policy, including the requirement for all Members to comply with the Club’s desired Pace of Play, and suggestions on “picking up the pace.” Second Offence – All Members of any group who have been sent a first offence notice will be sent a letter stating that this is their second notice and reminded that a third offence will result in suspension of playing privileges. Third Offence - Suspension of playing privileges for one (1) week. Fourth Offence - Suspension of playing for one (1) month. Fifth Offence - Suspension of playing privileges for (3) three months. " Not turning in a time slip is the same as not meeting the "pace of play". We do not have a pace of play issue. So you are the one full of # @#! LOL
-
To the issue is not how tough the course is or if the women can play at the men's tees etc. The Masters is about tradition. It is play on the same course at nearly the same time every year. It is the first major of the year for the PGA. The LPGA already has that and it is the ANA Inspiration (formerly the Dinah Shore). "Founded in 1972 by entertainer Dinah Shore, the tournament has been classified as a major since 1983. Since its inception, it has been held annually at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, southeast of Palm Springs. It is first major of the year, usually played in late March or early April. The current title sponsor is All Nippon Airways. IMG manages and operates the event for ANA." They should go back to having the Dinah Shore name in their title like the The Dinah Shore Tournament presented by ANA etc. If you treat the Dinah Shore like the Masters then the LPGA lines up very similar to the PGA in terms of majors. ANA Inspiration Women's PGA Championship U.S. Women's Open Women's British Open The Evian Championship The Evian Championship could be made to be like the Fedex Championship to the PGA at the end of the season. So instead of trying use Augusta National to create a new major why not build up the Dinah Shore where you already have a rich history and in the years to come will become like the Masters is to the PGA. To me what Paula is asking for is a real slap in the face to the Dinah Shore Tournament.

I am not a member of ANGC so I do not know definitely but IMHO they do not care about the "money". They are doing just fine with the revenues from the Masters. "As Golf Digest reported , the Masters will take in about $115 million in revenue this year and turn a profit of $29 million. Here’s the revenue breakdown: merchandise ($47.5 million); tickets ($34.75 million); international TV rights ($25 million); concessions ($7.75 million). Noticeably absent: domestic television revenue. As per golf digest: “ This is the 60th consecutive year CBS has broadcast the Masters on a one-year contract…n either CBS nor Augusta National makes money on the deal.” - Forbes Because of the one-year contract with CBC the Masters has a lot of control over the broadcast. So much control that when Burke threatened to force sponsors to pull out from the Master's telecast, ANGC preempted this by cancelling all commercials from their telecast. Forbes estimates that if ANGC decided to go into a long term television contract they could command $100 million a year.

Amen. How many complaints are there for all these fireman's calendars.

I recognize that this is a public forum and I have resisted posting "tacky and crude" comments on here but I will not criticize anyone else who does post such comments because I know I have made similar comments in a private setting. This is "holier than thou" ......... the response which I italicized below. You guys kind of suck. I can understand some of the arguments against having a women's Masters at Augusta; many of the ones posted here have a lot of truth in them. But these kinds of posts are pretty shitty, especially when you revel in that kind of sexism. It isn't a good look; nobody thinks you're cool or edgy. The truth of the matter is sex sells ....... period.
-
I love it. My wife would not be surprised at any of the comments on here. I am proud to be an anti PC person. I just wonder how the holier than thou PC crowd here behave in their regular foursomes. If it is anything like my foursome everything discussed here is tame. Back on topic. IMHO there is no way Augusta will ever have a Womens' Masters. I am actually surprised that they have women members. Frankly I just loved their response when Martha Burke and her non sense organization tried to blackmail them into admitting women members by threatening the sponsors of the Masters. They merely removed all sponsors advertising from the following Masters telecast. I am sorry that they actually capitulated and allowed women members a year later. Should I be launching a human rights complaint because I will never be considered for admission at Augusta !!!!!!!! Now the suggestion of holding a Masters type tournament at Donald's club is fantastic and the "green jacket" idea priceless. I bet there would be a television audience for that.

Definitely know spring is here as they have started to hand rake the bunkers again. Very nice. Pretty nice this morning.

Article on:Spieth taking more money from Tony Romo than he can count
ay33660 replied to boogielicious's topic in Tour Talk
So are you saying it is not OK to have a bet going on a round of golf?????? If so WOW !! Every weekend we have a bet going in our group. In fact a lot of time there are too many bets going and it takes us most of lunch to figure out who won what. You know points for sand saves, birdies, chip ins etc etc. When my son was 7 or 8 and just taking up golf I would always bet him a chocolate bar or pop from the cart girl if he two putted or something. Off topic but there is nothing like playing golf with your 7 year old to get on the good side of the cart girls. -
My club is certainly not an exclusive club. I am like you and I don't do the social stuff. I mean I will have lunch and dinner with the regular foursome but that is about it. I am there to golf only and yes they are some rich business owners but the vast majority are hard working professionals. You will find Bentley's and Ferrari's in the parking lot but you will also find Honda's, Toyota's etc too.

Wow I am surprised. Vancouver is a very expensive city. Land values are crazy here. This is mostly because we have become a favorite city for various business owners and/or political officials from China to launder (no bad word), hide (nope bad again), funnel (again not good) ...... invest (yeah that's the word) their ill gotten funds. I mean the "official" rule in China is that you can only take out of the country US$50,000 in one year. Yet purchases of middle of the road properties (as in not waterfront) on the west side of Vancouver is around $4M to $6M. Waterfront will run into $10M to $30M. As a result a bare city lot (50ft x 100ft) will cost you $3.5M at a minimum. Then you have to spend approx. $1.5M to build a house or renovate. And now a friend of mine who is a realtor says there is some growing interest from Russian buyers.

How is that a private club? At my club - - one time initiation fee $50k - monthly dues around $450 - quarterly food minimum $220 - unlimited golf - no other costs for each round
-
As I mentioned there is a wait list for intermediate memberships (22 to 35) also. They get a lot better deal cause I believe their initiation is 50% of the regular initiation fees. We have a lot of professionals who are members. I always thought that Canadian professional made a LOT less than American professionals. On average - MD (non specialist) - $200k to $300k MD (specialists) - $500k to $650k Dentist - $250k to $700k Lawyers - $200k to $450k Accountants - $200k to $500k Engineers - $150k to $250k But the really wealthy guys are the business owners. And a good number of the young guys (intermediates) seem to have time to run their businesses and to golf mid day during the week! Also we really only have a good 8 or 9 months of golf in the year. We also don't have a pool or tennis court at our club. It is strictly for golf. So you guys are lucky in that respect.
