  1. As always, you get what you pay for. I've seen these little bags go for $15 on ebay, but I have no idea what the brand was. You might be better off buying one retail and knowing what you're getting.
  2. My first eagle during a match in high school. The other team was calling me Mr. Eagle for the rest of the round. Too bad it was back to normal after that third hole.
  3. My wife hates it. She routinely points out that during the swing, they're focusing on the ladies' midsection and you can't even see the ball or their heads. It reminds her of watching Fear Factor when they used to zoom in on the girls getting ready to go in water for a stunt. I guess I never paid that much attention to what was actually being shown on screen, I just knew I watched it for some reason.
  4. You might want to spend the exta $$ and buy a new one with a warranty. I think mastercard will double the warranty length if you use the CC to buy it too. I've used my warranty twice in the past 9 months. The Toshiba repair guys fixed/replaced whatever and called me when its ready to be picked up. Both times I had it back in about a week. BB used to take months for some things to get repaired. Also, fire it up before you leave the store and look for dead pixels. The warranties didn't cover anything less than 5 or so, unless they were close together. Basically, read the fine print and make sure it works before you leave the store.
  5. should give his avatar a receeding hairline, just like me
  6. Right now its between my pw, driver, and hybrids. I love my putter but I guess I'm taking it for granted at the moment. I've only played twice this year, but I've hit most of the fairways off the tee. My approaches with my hybrids have been dead straight instead of my usual banana with my old fairway woods. My PW is my savior right now because I'm terrible chipping with anything else. It's taken me 3 shots to hit a green inside 100yds probably 4 times so far. The cleveland wedges are just going to have to stay in the bag until I practice with them more. Right now I'm better at adjusting my swing and using the PW from 100 and in. pw, driver, hybrids
  7. Does the store have used clubs? You can sometimes save half on last year's models. If you don't want used, at least check the clearance stuff. Last year's models are still way cheaper than the newest stuff. You could also ask if they match competitor's prices. Golf Galaxy will match any advertised price on new stuff, even from online retailers like rockbottomgolf.com, scorelow.com, globalgolf.com and others. They just want verification of the price. I'd ask them to match the price, before I show them the gift card.
  8. Double-check for authenticity even at retail stores. I saw a Golf Galaxy associate take 3 Odyssey Tri-Ball putters in as trades. He didn't ask the guy why he had 3 of the same putters, and only glanced at the model numbers to find the value in his book. Counterfeits of those putters are all over ebay. I can't be sure they were fakes, but the guy seemed giddy about getting $70 each for them. I buy from powersellers on ebay. They usually go out of their way to avoid negative feedback, and they're more likely to get prosecuted if they're selling counterfeit stuff. Everything in my bag (except the driver) is used from ebay.
  9. I was about to go into detail about how some of the drugs on the list are regularly used to regulate blood pressure or treat asthma attacks, and that banning them could cause some players to retire early or risk their health by not using the substance. I searched and found a site that says these medications will be allowed as long as the player has a prescription, and that the drug levels in the urine are within normal use parameters.
  10. My Boccieri Heavy B3-M putter is my best purchase so far. 3-putts were almost expected before, and I used to get really shaky over 3 footers. This putter lets me take aim and pull the trigger. There's really no other way to explain it. It's harder to judge longer distances, but I'll give that up to make the short ones any day.
  11. Exactly! My brother-in-law settled on TaylorMade irons because he hit the 5 iron farther than the other brands he tried. If you're worried about the extra distance technology why not just buy the matching wedges for your set. I think you need to fill the gaps rather than change your swing. You might be able to find them cheap on ebay too. Proshopwarehouse.com is also a good place to look for these.

    what putter

Go to the pro shop and putt until you find one you like, maybe even get fitted for a putter, then buy it used on ebay. Golf clubs depreciate in value really fast once they're used. If you change your mind, you'll probably be able to sell it for about the same price you paid. I've done this with 4 different putters until I found my Heavy, a few different sets of irons, and I'm currently playing with different drivers. My latest purchase was a TM Burner 460 (demo) for about $80. I'm skying it really bad so that's probably going back on ebay too. By the way, clean the club and take pictures of it outside. It will sell for a lot more if you have good pictures.
  13. Since I was only able to play three times last year, I'll assume my HC has gone up into this category. My advice for fellow high HCers, use cheap balls. I used some of my prov1 from the year before and lost most of them in one round (103, my highest in years). Anyway, my swing is really screwed up and I can't hit a fairway to save my life. On the range I'm hitting my irons solidly, but my drives are all ballooning and slicing. The range balls were going straighter than the prov1 on the course, so that has to be my priority right now. I'm actually thinking of trying the TopFlite D2 STRAIGHT. I'll bag my hxtours and prov1s until I start getting control again.
  14. Lefty stuff is always super cheap on ebay, especially is you're willing to take a chance and buy from Joe Schmo. I'm still trying to figure out why you wouldn't go with another TM R7 like your driver and 5w. The different size, shape, crown, sound, and feel of the cobra might be distracting.
  15. If you see your backstroke waver side to side like mine does a Heavy Putter might be for you. I know I should practice more but I've got 4 kids (2-13yrs) so that's not happening. With this thing its like taking aim and pulling a trigger. I just pull it back and let gravity take over. It's ugly and the feel is terrible, but it's working for me.
