I know exactly what you mean. I wear a 14W and the most comfy pair of shoes I found are a pair of adidas spikeless. I cannot find the exact link but they are something like this http://www.tgw.com/customer/category/product.jsp/SUBCATEGORY_ID/51057/refScid/1094/sattr0/Width/sattrVal0/wide/sattr1/Cleat+Technology/sattrVal1/spikeless/sattr2/Type/sattrVal2/golf/sattr3/Color/sattrVal3/White~%7C~Satellite

I had my clubs extended +1" at golf galaxy a few months back and it cost me a total of 94$ I believe. Thats for 4-PW and this includes all new golf pride wrap grips. My clube were already 2* flat. Hope this helps with the cost questions.

910D2, good or bad for a 36 handicapper
Bradbar replied to cwaldo5252's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I recently just picked up the same club, got a used one in like new condition for a good price. I would imagine that being able to adjust the loft and club face should help us, lets just say "compensate" for some of the flaws in our swing. I'm not saying saying that it is a miracle cure or anything but I know I stuggle with closing my clubface and the little hlep the club gives has made some difference. Granted i'm still working on several issues with my swing but I'll take any help I can get. -
What was your first set of golf clubs?
Bradbar replied to cooke119's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Considering I started playing last year, My first set was and still my current set, Ping I-10 irons, G-10 hybrid and 3-wood (draw), G-15 driver (draw), Cleveland cg-12 56* wedge and Odessey white hot #1 putter. Got the whole set off of craiglist in almost brand new condition for 475$. -
what's the real scoop on extended clubs?
Bradbar replied to tuffluck's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
If you look like your slumping with an 8i and it is the same as a PW with 1" extension then you are slumping even more on a standard lenth PW if your theory is correct, which would explain the reason for getting the extension? (to correct the slumping) Also, correct me if I am wrong, properly fitted clubs would account for length, lie and loft, which should in theory should have you hitting a +1" 8i the same distance as a standard 8i. Only difference being that with the +1" clubs you are in a better/more comfortable posture? On a side note a why dont you just choke up ony our long irons slightly and see if it helps? It would give you a decent answer as to if the extension/length is the reason you struggle with long irons? -
I have not been playing golf that long but I would say go with the Razr HL's if you cannot find a used set. I have hit the G-15's and they are very nice but the HL's felt more forgiving to me and seemed to give me a better ball flight. Although I am currently playing a G-15 driver and like it alot.

I am somewhat suffering from the exact same thing! I was going to the range a couple times a week and felt like I was making some serious progess, I was making very good consistant contact and hitting balls straighter than ever. Went to the course and almost every iron was fat..... Since than I'v change my pre shot routine a little bit and have been working on my swing angle down towards the ball and it has helped. Played my first 18 since making some adjustments and it helped me alot. Still no where near what I do on the range, very frustrating.

I picked up the game a few months ago and was basically in the same boat as you are. I didnt want to spend a fortune on clubs but also wanted to buy a set that I would be able to play for awhile. I looked on ebay and every website I could find and ebay really didnt have alot of "great" deals. I mean sure you could save maybe a few dollars vs a store but most websites are fairly close in price. (this is just what I found, i'm sure people have got great deals) I found a set of pings on craigslist that fit my budget and what I was looking for perfectly. I'm not sure about your area but there are several people in my area constantly selling full sets, i'm assuming they work on a course and they are trade ins or something but I would check it out. just an fyi, you were talking about the adams tight lies, in my area right now http://baltimore.craigslist.org/spo/3331833793.html full set brand new 300$. Craigslist would be my first go to spot.

OK guys, help me spend $150-200 on a driver ... GO --->
Bradbar replied to inthehole's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I picked up a used Ping G-15 driver and I like it alot. Considered getting a new driver just becasue I got the itch for "new" but never did, decided I like my G-15 too much. I know it was 199$ new at golf galaxy last week when I was there but I'm sure you could find it slightly cheaper if you shop around, but i think its def worth checking out. -
I'm also 6'4" and I recently bought a couple pairs of Izod golf shorts and they are def longer then my Greg Normans. I'm not sure of the exact inseam length but they seem a little bit longer than your typical golf short. I would suggest trying them, they are very light and comfortable.

I need help - lots of help - LOTS!
Bradbar replied to BigMike's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm not sure about the club fitter you talked to but 200$ for extensions sounds very expensive. I had my set of ping I-10's extended +1" 2 weeks ago and it cost me 94$ for 7 clubs and that included new golf pride grips. I had it done at my local golf galaxy and I am pleased with the job so far, have not had any issues. -
I-20 driver vs 910D2 driver. Which one is a better deal?
Bradbar replied to Bradbar's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the information guys. I didnt know that there was a big difference between the I series and G series drivers. I might see if I can talk the guy selling the titleist driver down at all this weekend and maybe pick it up if I can. The more people I talk to the more good things I hear about the 910D2. -
I am currently playing a Ping G-15 driver 10.5* draw driver and cant say i dont like the thing. I hit is as good as I can hit any for how long iv been playing but i'm a craigslist junkie and cant help myself. This driver came with a complete set of ping clubs I bought off craigslist a few months ago and there a couple interesting deals currently at my feet and want to get some opinions. I got a few extra dollars burning a hole in my pocket and I have the option of buying an almost new Ping I-20 9.5* driver with project X shaft for 225$ (possibly a couple dollar negotiating room) or a Titleist 910D2 9.5* with an Aldila RIP shaft for 195$. Are either of these deals worth jumping on? If so which one would you go for? Or should I just keep playing my Ping G-15 and spend my money on beverages ?

I am fairly new to golf as well and didnt want to go out and buy brand new clubs at first either. I checked craigslist every day untill I found something I liked that was fairly close to what I would need. I'm 6'-4" and through all the online sites that help with fitting I figured I would roughly need + 3/4-1" and around 2* upright lie. I ended up finding a set of ping green dot I-10 irons that were preety close to the lie I would need and then had them extended by my local golf galaxy. It ended up costing me 90$ for 4-pw and that included new Golf Pride tour wrap grips. So i guess that equals out to around 3-4$ a club to get them extended. If you can find a good deal on something used I would check it out. It wasnt a big deal to get them extended either, I dropped then off after a round on saturday and picked them up sunday morning. Although you might want to talk to them about keeping the swing weight correct, I'm not exactly sure what it entails or exactly what specificly it is but the guy who did the work on my clubs said it is important and I came to the right guy, but who knows. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this?

I had my first lesson about 4 weeks ago and it was a strange experience for me. I have not been playing gof very long and basically had no previous instruction at all, just watched a few you tube videos. I was doing what I thought was preety decent at the range and was confident in my progress until I had the lesson. I was hitting them decently untill he started instructing. After him giving me some pointers and working with me for the 40 minutes i couldnt hit a damn thing! I finished off the my bucket working on what we had gone over and I litterally didnt hit one clean shot. I went home somewhat pissed and felt cheated but figured he was the pro and I should atleast give him the benfit of the doubt that he really knew his stuff. Over the next week, I worked on the drills he gave me to do and really focused on fixing the things I was doing wronge and it worked wonders. Just after one lesson and a week of practicing my swing had a 100% improvement. Moral of the story is if your anything like me you will get worse before you get better.

I am also a beginner and I purchased my first set of clubs from someone on craigslist and had no trouble at all. I made sure I priced out each club individually as though I were buying it from the store and as if I was buying them off ebay to make sure I was getting a good deal. I ended up paying 475" for everything that follows. Driver- Ping G-15 10.5Degree Draw 3-wood- Ping G-10 draw Hybrid - Ping G-10 Irons - Ping I-10 4-PW green dot Wedge - Cleveland CG-12 56 Degree Putter - Odyssey White Hot #1 Bag - Maxfli various other balls/brushes/towels and other stuff. Everyhting was in mint condition and I feel as though I got a good deal. 475 may be a little more than you are willing to spend but I check craiglist fairly often thier is always something around that price range in my area (Baltimore Md).

I'm not sure about which one plays better but I know that the 825 sure as hell looks alot better.

"Players" Irons vs "game impovement" Irons to a beginner
Bradbar replied to Bradbar's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the feedback guys. I recently had them extended +1" (i'm 6'-4" and my local golf pro said that it will help me maintain my spine angle) and since took them to the range once and hit them better than I ever have but it did not translate into the course very well. I ended up chunking alot that round but I beleive its mostly due to the fact I have not had enough time with the clubs after having them extended. Either way hearing what you gys have to say make me feel better about buying a set of clubs blind lol. -
Hello, I revently got into golf around a month or so ago and before really knowing anything about clubs I purchased a set of used Ping I-10's. Since than I have had multiplule people tell me that my skill level is not good enough for the clubs I am using and I would get more out of "game inprovement" irons. I know I am just beginning but feel I am progressing rather quickly and find it hard to believe that there can be that big a different between I-10's and something like a G-15 (which someone suggested to me). Is this true and would it be worth it for me to look at trying to switch to a more "game improvement" iron?
