  1. When considering what LENGTH golf course you should play, the LENGTH you are able to hit the ball seems like a variable you should consider. I would never play a course that was 7,700 yards... I couldn't hit half the par 4s. If you hit your 5i 140, I am guessing your driver is around 210, and your 3iron is around 160? So you have a maximum reachable par 4 (excluding woods off the deck) of 370 yards, and you want to play from the tips? Even if you don't agree with my math, do you really think it makes sense to play from tees where you HAVE to hit driver on every (non par 3) hole to have any shot of hitting the green in reg? Or does it make sense to play from a set of tees where you might hit an iron for placement. Does it make sense to have to hit a wood or long iron into every green, or do you maybe occasionally want to hit an 8i approach after hitting a good drive (the way the architect probably intended)? Do you want risk reward situations, or do you want to play tees where your main concern is getting distance? I'm impressed that you are that short and able to put up a 16 hdcp, and guess your tee choice is fine if you are happy with it and can pass the second suggested measure in the article: are you consistently breaking 90? if not, move up...
  2. I can't stand it when i make my club selection, and I'm getting ready to hit and someone makes a comment about my choice. It is generally a sure thing that i will eff up after that. I'm sure i would do much better to always switch clubs whenever someone puts doubt in my head.
  3. quiet lower body.
  4. Ohhhhhhhhh SNAP!!! Better show this guy whats up Fat Slice... we need a posted video of you stuffing it close from 220...
  5. if you're really dead set on going for "top quality" Stuff, you really need to go hit whatever you buy.
  6. Pardon the slightly stupid question but: How does one determine if a large sandy area is a bunker or a waste area?
  7. I actually feel that I take too long to hit my shots. Its something which wasn't a problem for me before this year, but when i switched irons for some reason I started spending much more time over the ball. I would say that on the tee box I take between about 30 and 40 seconds from the start of my routine till I hit my ball. I do have a several steps, but what really could be cut down is the time i spend over the ball before actually hitting it. I probably take 10-15 seconds just standing over most tee shots. I would like to get it down to about 20 seconds.
  8. According to the article, average 5i x 36 = total yardage you should be playing. for me, that's about 6,800 yards.
  9. Yeah but having to make the paddle out in the 5/4 with gloves and booties sure ups the workout intensity doesn't it As for this workout, I would never try this without instruction from a trainer. I can just imagine myself getting hurt doing this. Camilo is a freak though, this is really impressive.
  10. Sorry if this has been posted before, but I ran across this article and I think maybe it can't be posted enough. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/04/sp...ennington.html
  11. Bridgestone e5+. Urethane cover at a cheap price.
  12. Love the cobra sound. Just keep it as is... its bad ass.
  13. Yeah 8/14 fairways, 12 GIR. Very very good for me. Probably helped that I was playing a reasonably forgiving course though, and in conditions which are much better than I'm used to. I had the 4 putt and two 3 putts. Honestly though, if you had asked me right after I smoked my first putt off the green... I would have taken 37 putts in a heartbeat. I was feeling pretty rattled, especially since I was playing with people I didn't know.
  14. 1) Stand about 10 feet behind the ball. 2) Pick a target in the distance, and choose ball flight. 3) Take my grip 4) Walk up to the ball and put the club down behind it, aligning the face to my target. 5) Take my stance and set my feet 6) A couple practice swings until i feel good about the stroke i'm trying to put on the ball. 7) Hit the shot. None of it is that exact. I don't have a set # of practice swing for instance. Its usually 2-4. My biggest problem of late is taking too long over the ball after step 6.
  15. So I played a great course today. Waverly GC in Plyouth mass. Great experience. But it didn't start out that great... I was rushed to the first hole as a single, no time to do any putting. I hit it in reg, and promptly putt my ball back off the green... WOWZA! I guess that's what a real, fast putting green plays like. I ended up 4 putting the hole. I can't remember the last time I 4 putt a hole. I ended up shooting an 81 with... 37 putts... DAMN!
  16. Its a pretty specific question... I could tell you about how I switched my r5 D shaft, but that's not really what you are asking about...
  17. I hate hitting the ball long and straight...
  18. I like: 1) Mid length courses, 6,700 yards is about right for me. 2) Generally not too tight or too wide open. But there should be a couple holes which are wide open and you can really try to let one go. 3) I prefer links style courses. They just fit my eye and remind me of my childhood home course. And I don't get to play them so often so its always a treat! 4) I agree with the sentiment that there should be a drivable par 4 on every course. So much fun... 5) I like having dogleg holes that give you the choice between carrying over a corner, or playing out straight into the fairway.
  19. The putts didn't fall... thats it. When the pressure was on he absolutely striped one into the 17th green... directly at the flag... and it carried 3-4 yards too far. tough break... Tiger is still tops.
  20. You need to use the button to embed the video. As for pulling putts, I did notice that everything was missing left of the hole. I don't know how many of those putts were on left to right breaking putts though. I think he was reading too much break.
  21. From the rough, almost always a 60*. on an uphill lie, i hit a 56*. From fairway, 56* to carry a ways onto the green; Running the ball across the green, i use pw or 7i.
  22. It seemed like Tiger read too much break on almost every single putt today.
  23. Not so fast... tiger makes his bird...
  24. Are they dating?
  25. I thought you were going to go another way. I think if i played tougher courses my handicap would be lower. But that's assuming I would know the course, as you are pointing out.
