Yesterday I found a driver 's head abandoned on a range carpet. It 's a Boom Boom parallax 11° in very good condition, like new. I think it's from the 80 's but can 't find a lot about on the net. Well, there 's a fine old commercial with fred couples on utube, funny to watch. Now i 'm wondering what kind of shaft should I mount on this head. The OG shaft was a graphite as it remains in the hosel. But I 'd like to put a steel shaft on it, as it was the most in the 80's. I think DG S300 is the right choice and I own one or two in my garage, together with unused 80 's golf pride grips which will do well. I 'll then give it a go for a practice round, as often with all my old fashioned clubs. My golf friends are always waiting for me to put in play "new" vintage clubs... I assume the "Boom Boom" name is about Couples nickname, but was he really playing the club during his career ? Does any of you know this club or had played it in the years?

That 's not the question and I know a bunch of athletic guys able to achieve such distance. Nosevi, your constructive approach helps a lot, and probably the setting is involved. My club pro owns a FlightScope, I will try to recreate the shot being sure the mode is outdoor. I will let you know the numbers, including spin this time. You will here of me on Friday.

I guarantee that shot is a good wedge shot. All the guys around the scope were pretty impressed and the demoman told me it was an impressive shot. (Why I made a screen picture). I swing my driver about 115/120 mph. I use to throw javelin, so I kept some rapid fibers from that time! It 's possible the datas are erroneous, but it 's for sure the ball traveled those 140 yds or so, as we observed it on the range. It really was a pure shot, but how can we explain a 1.17 smash factor with a wedge? Is it feasible? I agree a 65° dynamic loft seems unlikely. The setting on the radar was "wedge", can it read all the datas properly at this speed?

Hello, I need a skilled Trackman or FlightScope operator to help me to understand what happened during this shot? It was pretty huge so I decided to keep a picture of the FlightScope's screen. I made it with a 56° Nike forged wedge on a demo day. I'd like to know the correlation between "angle of attack" and "dynamic loft". Plus , who knows what is a "correct" smash factor for a wedge, 7 iron and driver? Thank you guys for answers.

A weird story . But I wish I was as Lucky as you are, the R9 supertri stays my favourite driver 's head of all times, and I Keep playing it those days. I broke two of them from 2010 (the metal breaks on the crown, as it often does with big hitters) so I m still in search for best price good condition Supertri heads. Though my last one is still in good shape. I ll certainly buy one or two more as it becomes tougher to find in very good condition here in France. My thinking is that TM was at his peak with the making of this head, and none of the followers are even better, for me as I tried all of them as a Demoman for an other OEM. The only issue is the fragility that pertains to all R9 heads. Opinions???

Maybe the next step in the rules of golf. By making the game ever and ever easier, the equipment could be restricted. What about a 12 clubs bag? Back in times players did not had 60s or "gap" wedges. Not talking about big headed drivers , it could be a way to render the game a way to defend himself...

Just back from the practice range, where I hit 300 balls. They are just what I had expected, not really pretty clubs, but frighteningly efficient! The X stiff is the good choice for me, as they are not really strongly hard. They fit my tempo well and I have my average distances, but with much more consistency in the results and a big amount of confidence at adress. My previous little head Launchers 2005 were definitly too compact for me, though they are extremly good woods. The sound is neat, a good clack. Mishits are not penalized too much, just a loss of distance but staying in line. The revelation for me is the 23° Hybrid (I had no Hybrids until this day). It 's SO easy. It gives me a good 185/190 mètres (205+ yards) and will stand in for my 4 iron in my bag, with a much higher trajectory. Will be perfect on tee for shorts par 4. It' s true it has a little draw bias, but not embarrassing at all. To recap, not high roller 's clubs, but a dependable value at a bargain price. Hope it will help.

I started the game 6 years ago, I m a pure product of the modern gear era. Last summer a non-golfer friend gave me an old persimmon Ben Hogan 4 wood with a stiff steel shaft assuming it was not a pricey present, but only a memorabilia I should be happy to own. He was just right. After taking few hours sanding it and giving a new tint I brought it to the range. What a surprise! Quite easy to hit and what a whack! I claim I had my actual modern cleveland 5 wood lengths! Averaging 210 meters! The sound is perfect, loud and deep. Amazed by the consistency I decided to give it a go on course. My usual golf buddies laughing at me first, but quickly wanting to try the ancestor! Well, I did not kept it in the bag, but still use it from time to time on the range. Apparently, the loss compared to titanium head is not as huge as we can imagine. Some says 3 to 5%. The barely thing to overcome is the manufacturing price, and that was the reason why metal heads were generalized in the 90s. As often, just a matter of business ruled our way to play a game.

I ordered mines today at last. 3 and 5 woods + 23* hybrid with Myazaki C Kua 59 shafts (X stiff 63gr). Hope I had not made a mistake... Cause my wife won't allow me a second chance to buy clubs this year (just bought a new set of ping S56 + the matching 3 tour S wedges on KBS shafts...) Will see.

Turtleback, They are sure the 2012 , cause 2011 had only the hybrids line . Fairways Mashie line came for 2012 as the irons . And the sole design on the new hybrids changed slightly. Cleveland kept them in their 2013 catalog but won't release the Mashie woods no more. Waiting for your feed back.

When I started the game 6 years ago an old pro teacher gave me a set of very used wilson staff FG 49. Not the best gear for a beginner. I quickly switched to an inesis game improvement set. it last me 3 years and lead me to a 12.5 hdc. Inesis is a very well known brand... in France. Now playing Ping 's S56 I sometimes give a go to my former little old pure blades, just for the fun of it!

Such demo days are organized here at spring too, but problem is they' ll show the 2013 gear and I won 't be able to hit the 2012 woods I'm aiming at. Plus, for this year Cleveland goes with the c kua 39 shaft , no more the 59 you 're talking about. The mashie wood line disapears from the Cleveland catalog for 2013. The mashie hybrid becoming the "classic" (same shape + rails and keel...). Obviously these woods were not a huge business success... don't know what to think about that. I will keep yourself informed. Thx again.

Thanks for the advices. Difficult to find many reviews about those clubs. It seems like they are eclipsed by more noisy products from TM for example. I think there is nothing to say much about the hybrids which are maybe a bit sad looking, but perform just the way they are asked. Now , concerning the woods , some says despite they are not in the lights of the hype they can outperform such others as RBZ. What do you think about this statement? I need to deepen my knowledge because there is a good bargain to do here in France with these clubs ( 59€ each brand new). But the hitch is I can't try them before buying. Plus, how stiff are the Miazaky shafts in comparaison with other brands? I know it 's very suggestive but maybe someone may help. Usually I'm between Stiff and extra stiff, and the Kua 59 shaft is way lighter than normal, then I don't know which i should choose. I consider to buy a 15.5 FW , 18FW and 23MH. Thank for potential help.

I like to try different sizes and tastes. At the moment i smoke cumpays from nicaragua on the course. A good balanced and smooth taste in the robusto module, with an affordable price. But overall my favourite stays a classic Montecristo petit tubos or a hoyo de monterey robusto.

Near the place I live in is a practice facility with a huge driving range, dedicated greens for chipping, putting and bunkers + a pitch n putt 9 holes course. Rules posters are everywhere, with the correct behaviour the player is supposed to have on the differrent practice situations. And it works! Because it's a training center ( not a course practice area) people seem more concerned with the rules of use. In any event there are much less annoyances ( wich all of you describe well, and are cast in the same mould here in France!) than on the "warming" zones of the 18 holes course I use to play in.

WUTiger your French is still very good and "comprenable", don't worry, although the real word should be "compréhensible"! You must be better than me in English with little practice. To answer your question about the snow over here in my vicinity, it stays only in the mounts and summits where the sky resorts are. Fortunatly down here in the valley we can play golf almost all year long, aside 2/3 weeks in the core of winter when the soils are deeply frozen or the snow stays on. To end with the delicacy of situation with the Germans, yes , something stays awkward between us. But we are trying to go beyond that with our partnership. How do you do Americans with Japaneses ? A feeling of disloyalty is human, but the time helps to forget such bad things. And you do not share a border with those people! Luckily golf has no frontiers, no color, and is A culture and common religion if I am right. We all in France support Martin Kaymer for instance!

Hi all, I live in Chambery, Savoie, France. I use to work as a sports shop manager but I m unemployed at the moment. Then the good side of it is I got plenty of time to play golf!
