  1. Shot an 89(tied my lowest round) today at Belmont CC, my home course. Hit 8 GIR, 1 or 2 putted every hole. Wedges, chipping were both great. Like always my issues today came off the tee box. I got 9-pars, had 4 legit chances at birdies, just barely missed 3 of them. HDCP will be coming down again. Woohoo!!
  2. My chipping/wedge game is very good. Shot an 89 today and all was good, wedge, chipping, putting and lag putting. There just seems to be so many drills for everything else I was hoping there would be some for lag putting. I like this idea Tim, I will try it.
  3. I will try doing some of those. Here is my mindset on a lag putt. Examples, for say a 50 foot putt, I am trying to hit the ball say 45 feet. For some reason that helps me not blow it 15-20 feet past the hole. I know it's different for everyone and you do what works for you, but is their something else that I should be thinking/focusing on?
  4. ESPN might not have had a major contract but they showed at least 2-3 games a week on ESPN or ESPN2, which was great for my area because we were able to watch teams from around the country. After the lockout they started showing 0 games per week, so for me it was either watch 1-2 Sharks games per week or be forced into buying the Center Ice package. The region you live in is probably a huge hockey market, im guessing. So it would stand to reason that you would still have good coverage. Being in California, that's just not the case. We couldn't even get the versus channel when it first came out. I watch it on NBC from time to time but they don't usually show the Canucks or Senators very much. IMO it is a money issue. The Bruins, Rangers, Red Wings, and some of those famous teams will draw more ratings than say Coyotes - Senators.
  5. I got every game right in the NFC playoffs, and I missed every game in the AFC. Thought that the Ravens luck would eventually run out. Surprised they got passed Cincinnati, then the Broncos choke job, and now the Patriots. There seems to be a higher power at work here. The Ravens are a solid team but I didn't imagine this at all when the playoffs started. I was convinced of the Harbaugh Bowl last year, not this year. I think the 49ers are gonna win, but since I have been wrong about the Ravens all playoffs I have no clue. Just wondering how mommy Harbaugh is going to feel on Feb 3rd? If it were me and my brother (golfingdad) and I won, I would be taunting him at every chance I got for the rest of our lives.
  6. I am just about done with the NHL, they are getting one more chance. My wife and I were avid fans of the NHL. She is a Vancouver Canucks fan, and I an Ottawa Senators fan. Both born and raised in Central Valley of California, go figure. I used to get the NHL center ice package, wouldn't miss an Ottawa game if I could help it. Even used to play fantasy hockey. The 2004-05 lockout/season cancellation all but killed the NHL for me and my wife. It used to be on ESPN a lot and when the lockout happened, ESPN figured out it was making more money showing college basketball than showing NHL. After the lockout it was more difficult to see games on TV, unless I wanted to keep paying for center ice package, except for the occasional national TV game or watching the Sharks on Comcast which is cool. I think the NHL was finally starting to get back on track from that lockout. I would have thought that the NHL and players would do whatever it took to not have another work stoppage after seeing what happened the last time. I had no clue that games had started until I saw this thread. I hope that this will be the last work stoppage for awhile and the NHL can figure out a way to get their product back onto TV they way it used to. For me, hockey is the most exciting sport to watch.
  7. I was thinking something and typing another. IMO, mid 80's would get you onto the team. High 80's I'm not so sure about that getting you on.
  8. Shooting mid to high 80's should get you onto a high school golf team unless you happen to live in an area with a hot bed of golfing talent. There are usually 1-2 golfers at each school in my area that shoot in the 70's but the other players on the team are probably in your range. At both high schools that I have worked at anyone that went out for the team made the team and only the top 6 competed each week.
  9. I consider myself a very good putter. Maybe 3 putt once every 2-3 rounds. I do have a problem lag putting though, which is where most of my 3-putts and occasional 4-putts come from. I practice lag putting everytime I am on a putting green, but it seems like I am just guessing about how hard to hit, where to hit, etc... I was wondering if anyone has any tips, drills or suggestions about improving lag putting?
  10. I just recently joined this site because my brother, golfingdad, has been talking about this site for awhile and trying to get me to sign up so here I am. I am in my 14th year as a math teacher. I have also coached football and baseball at my school in the past. Now I spend most of my time with my 2 young ones. I used to play golf all the time when I was younger and then quit cold turkey. I hated golf for probably 10+ years, and I started playing again about a year and a half ago. I just joined a CC near my house and all I want to do is play golf, weird how that worked out. I do have a question. How do I put my swing onto this website? Do I have to load it onto youtube and then link it? load it directly to this site? Not sure.
  11. I completely agree. I usually finish in 4 hours at my club. Sometimes it's slow and we finish in 4:30, which is slow at my club. I have had some rounds where we were the first off in the morning and we finished in a little over 3 hours. I walk the course with my clic gear, and at that pace I feel completely rushed. I can walk the course that fast but my game suffers because of the brisk pace. I have heard that young PGA players fall into that trap sometimes when they are leading a tournament and their adrenaline is going and just want to take off walking and get going. Anywhere from 4-5 is good, a little over 5 is still OK but not ideal. Anything approaching 6+ is ridiculous.
  12. I usually hit between 3-5 greens a round and I have only broken 90 once in the last 2 years and it was an 89. I don't keep my stats anymore but it seems that it would need to be higher to break those. I think when I shot the 89, I hit probably 7 greens. I shot a 90 about 2 weeks ago and probably hit 7 greens that day as well.
  13. Well, the rules of golf would disagree with you. You actually would have scored a 41. I'm done in this thread.
  14. If that is a hole-in-one, than I get 18 every round. LOL Still a great shot to hit it in from a long way, Good Par.
  15. Congrats. I have been playing all my life and have never gotten one playing right handed. I couldnt putt left handed. I wouldnt consider taking a full swing. If/when I hit my first I will be smiling for probably a month.
  16. I use initials underneath the number and red baseball stitches on both sides of the alignment stamp.
  17. I just bought a 10.5 Rocketballz, but I could always use a free upgrade. I'll enter. BTW, phillymac has the best avatar I've seen so far.
  18. I just joined, are you happy now? I actually like the idea about paying the gross and net skins. Hopefully the rest of my group will as well.
