Oh sure.....they just talked. Come on man!!!!! She is jerking you around. This one is definitely not a keeper. I can only imagine what she is going to do 4 hrs away from you.

Tough to say a number it saves....you still have to hit the shots and make the putts. Your example of someone shooting low 80's on one course and not breaking 90 on another can just be due to course difficulty. Length, hazards, etc. vary greatly from course to course as you know.

Can you hear the hiss of your own ball?
steve8820 replied to Bristol's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I usually only care where the ball goes............not the sound it makes -
It is really hard to say. I've done a few lesson packages from a few PGA teaching pros in my area and they are all different. When you are just starting out, the basics (grip, set-up, etc) are important and you will get the same info for virtually any PGA pro. However, when you start diving in to aspects of the swing, they will diverge somewhat. Also their diagnosis of your problems will be different as well. IMO, you have to go see an instructor who uses video analysis. It is very important to see + feel the correct positions.

Equipment pricing realization
steve8820 replied to Livestrong's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
A couple of things...... One, be careful on where you buy your clubs online. Always buy from a legit retailer. You might end up with a fake otherwise. Two, you don't need to play a premium ball at this point. I am not saying go play something like a "rock-flite", but don't spend $4-5 per ball. Play something in between like a Titleist NXT, etc. They will spin less, you will be straighter off the tee, and you will still have some feel on/around the greens..... just my .02 cents -
Sending my Scotty down for the BOS treatment
steve8820 replied to Cesar's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Wow!!!!!...... Maybe when you get it back use a headcover -
So I have used the swing extender for a couple of nights now. I have to say that I don't know if it is worth the $30 IMO. Maybe I have shortened my swing enough with the use of TourTempo, but I just don't seem to notice the extender there during my swing. It also seems to shift around quite a bit on your arm. So, you will find yourself adjusting it after a few swings or so.

If you have decent mechanics, you will see a noticeable improvement in your ball striking right away. It helps you "get out of your own way" mentally and just react. I find that I tend to play a lot faster now and spend a fraction of the time I used to spend over the ball. Both good things......

Golf logix on blackberry?
steve8820 replied to kleraudio's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have a GPS on my iPhone that is $29, one time charge and you get free updates. GolfShot GPS. Works really well. Have tested it side by side with cart GPS systems. I don't see any reason to pay the $40 per year....... -
If you go the ebay route, be very careful of fakes. LOTS of fake Callaway products out there............LOTS.

How long did it take for the product to arrive? I ordered last Wednesday and have not received any notification that it has shipped........
-
......yeah like he says. Just pay the money to enter the scramble and then play by whatever format you want. Then just turn in 3 total scores for your team at the end of the day.........hahahaha

haha.... John Daly is a disaster. The only difference between John Daly and your local drunk is that he happens to be able to hit a golf ball. I love when I see people sticking up for him in here........comical

Just found out how bad my swing is!
steve8820 replied to kleraudio's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Go for the lessons with video monitoring. It is important to see the flaws in your swing...... Just don't get wrapped around the swing speed, distances, etc on the computer. They are not accurate...... -
Damn you!!!!!!!..... Just bought one as well. Couldn't pass up an inexpensive training aide with positive feedback........

I have to admit I tried and failed to watch the Solheim Cup over the weekend. I just could not get in to it and changed the channel after 15 mins or so. Of course, Gulbis, Creamer, and Wie had my attention, but even that got old after a while. Not sure what it is........

Looking into a Golf Membership - Have Some Questions
steve8820 replied to sioutdoors's topic in Golf Talk
I think it depends on a couple of factors. The first of course being cost of the yearly membership. Do the math on how much you play and how much it is for a single round at this club, if it is public. I have always found that yearly memberships in my area only make sense if I play more than twice a week, which I don't. You might find that you are basically prepaying for your golf for the year..... The second factor is quality of golf in your area. Is this course the only one well maintained in the area? If so, then a membership there might work. Playing on a cow pasture is not worth any $$$. -
So I see this Cleveland "Niblick" at the golf shop
steve8820 replied to c. lassiter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Hey isn't Niblick a German word for "huge vagina who cannot chip with a wedge"? -
Hmmm......I smell bullshiz
-
No, of course I don't feel sorry for him. He had his chance with a very sinkable putt, but didn't even get it in the same zip code..........
-
Yes, my response was off topic of your original question, but I was just so thrown off by your comments that I forgot the thread topic. I'm speaking of the comments about how they wouldn't shoot an outstanding number at your local muni without yardage books, people finding their balls, etc...... Just seemed like a severe underestimation on how good the pros actually are. Many times TV doesn't do it justice.
-
hahaha....Now this is a funny post. Obviously, written by someone who has not been to a Tour event and watched these guys in person. The slogan "these guys are good" is correct, but an understatement.... And... I can guarantee if you take a Tour player to your local sh$t, cow pasture, muni course that they would shred it. Do you really believe that a caddy and a yardage book is the difference between them and you. What a joke!!!!!!

Ok, after one night using Tour Tempo I am a believer. I purchased the TourTempo app for the iPhone, $9.99. Comes with the tones and a few instructional videos, very basic stuff. A little bit of background on my game...... Been playing for 2 years. Typical scores range from 80 to 86, sometimes higher. Oddly enough, my short game is above average and my tee to green game gets me in trouble. I used to go to the range a lot. I thought I was practicing smart, but ended up just beating balls and my scores plateaued. We had our first child 3 mos ago, so I no longer have time to stop off at the range on my way home. Bought a net, mat, and The PathPro for the garage. The PathPro has helped me out a LOT, but I could still have poor ballstriking evenings due to a bad tendency to get quick in my downswing. Using the TourTempo tones at 27/9 last night, I was having no doubt the best consistent contact I have ever had. Virtually every swing produced crisp contact. Certainly the best $9.99 I have ever spent on golf. Really freed up my mind and made the swing just reactionary. So now, every I swing I take in the garage is using the PathPro and TourTempo............
