Best New Driver in the $200 Range?
Polynikes replied to deepfat's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Ping G25 is a great driver and has just gone down in price! -
I really like the Titleist Velocity, as requested it flies off the driver with low spin.

Easy to use hybrids and 3-5 woods, tips please!
Polynikes replied to MacTS's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Ping K15 range of hybrids and woods are very forgiving and have offset to help counter that slice! -
If people think we wear silly outfits to play golf, cycling just kicked our ass!

Just love that feeling when you know you got all of it.

Think all golfers know exactly how this feels, it's the feeling that makes this game addictive! Love the photos, thanks for posting! -
I'll answer your questions the best I can... 1. What do you look for when looking for a driver? What’s most important to you? Brand and whether I think it'll be right for my game. 2. What is your price point when shopping for a new driver? I've paid £200 for a brand new one before. 3. Where would you go to purchase a new driver? My club pro shop or online. 4. Do you do any sort of research before purchasing? (i.e: looking up reviews, asking a friend, etc.) Yes, I read reviews online. 5. What would convince you to purchase more? A YouTube video, a print advertisement, seeing a sponsored player use the driver, or hearing about it from a friend/peer? Have to admit I sucked in by a bit of advertisement!! 6. Have you heard of the SLDR driver? Yes. 6a. Do you own an SLDR driver? No. If (NO) you do not own an SLDR driver… 1. Why did you choose not to purchase the SLDR driver? Had already purchased a Ping G25 driver just before the SLDR release. 2. Did you purchase a different driver? See above.

Yeah really good point, you may well be on to something with this as your experiences sound similar to shots I play. Thanks for your input.

Should of thought of this earlier, but the ball behaved quite normally on drives! Which is more evidence that I haven't discovered some magical golf ball that I could sell on eBay for a small fortune!

Gutted for you, I recently damaged ligaments in my wrist and had initially thought I'd broken it, and the thought of no golf was my first concern! I'd say the only thing to do is let it heal properly, and research the best way to recover the strength in it when the cast does come off.

Hi, thanks for reading and commenting on this thread. I'm sure you guys are spot on, this was all at my home course on holes I've played countless times, so I know the yardages weren't the problem. I have been having lessons and working hard on my swing recently, and each shot felt like I'd connected beautify so I'll put it down to finding my swing working at it's optimum. I'll have to monitor my new distances now so I can ensure I select the correct club. Thanks again for all your inputs.

I had a little look around the site to see if anything similar had ever been discussed and couldn't find anything, but apologise if it has. I was playing in my normal 4 ball on Saturday afternoon and at some point on the front 9 lost my ball, so pulled out another and went on with my business. I always use Titleist velocity's, but this one particular ball was a complete freak. On the 9th, 10th and 11th I hit approach shots over each green by quite considerably long distances, for example my 50 degree wedge which is usually 115 yards went about 135, my 9 iron which should be about 135 went uphill and 170 yards and then my 8 iron hit it well over the normal 150 to about 185 yards. It was a calm and mild day so the weather certainly didn't play any factor in this strange occurrence. So I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

I pledge to create a golfer in 2014 - and am on my way with 6 golfers so far this year. As a teacher, I persuaded my school to pay for a course of 20 lessons for 6 pupils who expressed an interest. A local PGA pro is working his magic on them and so far they're loving it. Words getting round the school now, so the numbers involved will be going up fast!

Galvin Green insula tops are fantastic, but a little on the expensive side. -
I wonder what he buys?!

2014 Ping Hoofer / 4 series available now
Polynikes replied to Entropy's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I bought the Ping 4 series about 6 months ago. Comfortable to carry as the straps are great, good pockets that just about hold all the wet weather kit when needed. I only carry 13 clubs which seems perfect for this bag, the times I've carried 14 it's been a little too tight!! If I'm honest, i'd wish i'd gone for the slighter bigger hoofer! -
Had never heard of one of these so had a little look for reviews on Amazon! Every one of them said this product does not work and is a piece of junk (or words to such affect), so I'd probably avoid buying one if I were you!

I see they're selling Ping G25 irons for £0.00, that's not a bad price!!!!

Slow play at Los Angeles munis...something needs to be done
Polynikes replied to SoundandFury's topic in Golf Talk
Wow I'm shocked by these stories of such extreme slow play, I don't think I'd play golf anymore if it took 6 hours to play a round and all the tees had such a wait! I play at the Royal Eastbourne in England and have never had a round longer that 4 1/2 hours and rarely have to wait longer than a few minutes for the group ahead to be out of range. I certainly feel lucky now after hearing other people's struggles! -
Depends if there's a group close behind or not! If not and we're not in a rush, I'd have no problem letting a mate sort out his mind a little after a bad shot!

The Nike vrs irons are doing a good job for me, and they'll be a little cheaper now that Nike have brought out the new coverts!

Hi everyone, just joined today after a few visits recently, this certainly seems like the site to be on for aspiring golfers! I started playing about 18 months ago and am absolutely hooked and loving the game, really can't get enough of playing, watching or reading about anything golf! I look forward to getting to know people on here and sharing my new found passion!
