My brother has the tps 6.0 and I have tried the 7.0. Both would be still on par with current irons for forgiveness. Would use either club without a second tought. The older TPS are a bit of an Ping Eye 2 copy. Not a bad thing as they are a reliable design that people still play today. You would likely want to upgrade in the future though.

Which of these iron sets is better for a beginner?
solarbear replied to golfingnooob's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
MD generally use good parts in their clubs and perform well above their price point. I might lean towards them. Their Superstong clubs would represent a worthwhile upgrade. -
New To Golf, First thing to do to upgrade my bag
solarbear replied to Jason Warneke's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
That set looks quite good. I'd keep it for a while following the driver, woods, hybrids and finally irons, putter replacement. Maybe one every year. -
update my rinky dink set or start over?
solarbear replied to blaylock6502's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
If you've already broken your driver the Adams seem like a good way to go. Gradually, you will replace your driver, woods, hybrids, irons and putter... often in that order. Adams GT irons are a nice basic design that will not be significantly upgraded by any other in the market. -
Fairway Wood advice ... for a true beginner
solarbear replied to Joel A Childs's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
A 5 wood is a pretty versatile club and well worth owning a good one. Even if you perfect the driver. I'd have a look at a Maltby Trouble Out from Golfworks. It looks like they have returned to the original design, which was amazing. Can order whatever shaft and grip you want and assembly is like $4. If you could find a Callaway Steelhead III somewhere, they are amazing. -
help me find a reasonably priced driver

Cobra is always a good bet if you don't know what you want S2, S3, SZ, Amp... all can be had on Ebay pretty cheap. The stiff flex that they normally use is fairly smooth to the point I have seen women swing them ok. -
Even easier if you blow them on with an air compressor. Super easy job then.

How far down the grip is "normal" hand position?
solarbear replied to tpcollins's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I see a lot of pros and good players grip down about an inch or more for normal shots, although my pro said golf clubs were designed to be gripped half to one full inch. I grip down till the club feels balanced. Whike it defies all logic, I believe shorter is flatter. -
Maybe it was damaged when it was installed/cut. Seems a bit odd they have a good rep.

Think WUtiger is spot on. Pick up a 3w, 5w, hybrid and soldier on... Or just 4w and hybrid and carry less clubs.

Golf set for elderly shorter player?
solarbear replied to Xfimpg's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
How much you want to spend? Could check out Hireko golf and custom order a set a couple inches short. Probably graphite. But yeah a teen ager set might do the trick. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Adams-IDEA-Teen-Boys-Golf-Set-Right-Hand-Set-with-Bag-58-68-Tall-/280953864463?pt=Golf_Clubs&hash;=item416a27c10f&_uhb=1 -
There is a much cheaper version called Pinhawk. Maybe worth giving a look if your interested in this. I think valuegolf carries them.

Sounds pretty confusing. Imagine the spot where your two hands meet. Try and feel this spot in both the back and the downswing. Swing this spot into the ball. I love this sensation.

Evolvr is definitely good value. I have no idea what to expect from tehm though.

Lol I've had the same thought myself. He claims he made it knowing nothing of web design and he's been too busy to fix it. I believe it. Its a total disaster. But, hey, you can read through all his ideas on Secret in the Dirt, watch his youtube videos, try out his ideas on the range. If like me you find it working for you, the 5 stage online lesson program starts to make sense.

What clubs first and new or used?
solarbear replied to Gatsby1923's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
If I was starting out would go to a chain store and get some idea of my measurements. Chances are they are standard. If I wasn't near standard I'd investigate why. Ie if I was really upright I'd try and change that. If I wasn't standard I'd visit Hireko and pick up some Acer XS or XF. If I was near standard I'd picknup some used Cobra Irons off ebay... ie FP's usually go for a hundred or so. -
I've been tempted by the Bradley Hughes online lesson package, but can't really afford it. Price is the only thing holding me back.
-
I liked how you started to lay the club off a bit. Check out the Bradley Hughes videos on youtube for some visualisation of the laying the club off. He explains it really well.
-
I'd ring Callaway and put in some sort of ticket so when more of the clubs break nthey will fix them. They might even offer to preemptively reshaft the whole set if you get lucky.
-
Seems a bit odd. Either a bad batch of glue or the previous owners left them in the car for long periods of time on hot days. I would not be surprised if asked Callaway would reglue the whole set just to be safe.

Wtf is that gizmo sticking out of you doing? If you came in at the ball flatter you'd find the consistency you seek.
