That's right, if they do that they should force everyone to play a non spinny two piece surlyn covered ball too.

Not only will I continue to anchor but I am now officially adding a foot wedge to the bag too. Anyone doesn't like it can get out of my group. My friends won't say diddly about it because I would quit inviting them if they say a single thing or even make a face about it. the usga rules just officially became irrelevant in my group.

It's strategic alright. That's why half the time they aim for the bunkers, because it is such a terrible place to be. lololololol

usa course rough is a joke. usa bunkers are a joke. they purposely make the courses easy then blame the equipment, what a joke! the only thing good about golf has been the advancement in equipment. Nicklaus and Palmer are dinosaurs and should just shut their pie holes before they kill what is left that the golfing public likes. Speaking at U.S. Open Media Day Friday, Mike Davis, executive director of the USGA, promised "more birdies made - trust me - at this U.S. Open than any we have seen in recent history." Great comment. The equipment isn't the problem, the courses encourage slovenly golf.

Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)
thanw replied to mvmac's topic in Rules of Golf
If they adopt this rule I won't quit playing or quit anchoring. I just won't watch pro golf anymore and won't even bother to read the usga rules of golf because it is all just one big joke and won't buy anymore new clubs either. Continue with the circle jerk I'm out. -
Your right hand / right arm totally dominate your swing. Practice that iron shot with just two fingers from your right hand on the grip maybe it will help.

TaylorMade Prepping to produce Non-Conforming Clubs
thanw replied to mvmac's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Glad they are thumbing their nose at the officious usga. I predicted one of the major manufacturers would do that and everyone was such a know it all saying no one would dare challenge the mighty usga for the hearts of the weekend warrior. Palmer and his no anchor belly putter rule, he was touting the ERC driver on national television. He should just shut up already. -

ever hear of ebay? that old equipment is being bought up by people who don't like the direction club makers and the usga are going. the new stuff is overpriced junk imo. sure there are people who spend all day on a golf forum bragging about how much $ they spent on their eighteenth new set of clubs in 2013 but those are the minority. In real life people are buying up the old equipment like it's going out of style because it is. The number of golfers in the U.S. has fallen by 13% in the past five years, according to National Golf Foundation statistics. The number of golf rounds played nationwide last year through November was down 3.5% from the previous year, according to the foundation... http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/economy/housing/story/2012-01-15/golf-communities-real-estate/52591988/1 wait until they ban the pro v1, that should really help manufacturers sales numbers. Is Vijay a Jerk or "Justified": Files Suit Against PGA Tour
thanw replied to Mr. Desmond's topic in Tour Talk
They should drug test everyone on tour. If they sanctioned him for admitting something to the press then that is just plain wrong. Hey Vijay, just tell them you lied and never used that chit. Prove it. Have Tiger piss in a cup before every match. If they won't do that then they are cheating too. -
Good grief that is a nice swing. I wouldn't tinker with that at all. If anything I suggest you move the ball at address to more off your left heel. It looks fairly centered in your stance. Believe in your swing would be my advice.

If Tiger Woods used a belly putter we would not be having this conversation. period. It's all about whose ox gets gored. -

Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)
thanw replied to mvmac's topic in Rules of Golf
Yeah, sure, that's why some guys are buying dozens of older wedges. "Hoarding wedges", look into it. None of my grooves comply. I just bought a long putter and will use it how I want. the usga is stupid. Read some of the stuff they write. omg. out. of. touch. Somebody is going to start making clubs the way the people who buy all the millions of clubs every year want them and tell the usga to get stuft. Then all the bigs can go crying to the officious gods on high about lost business. the old vr pro wedges are still popular. a used vr pro ii ain't worth much. -
Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)
thanw replied to mvmac's topic in Rules of Golf
The usga is rapidly losing touch with average golfers, course owners, and equipment manufacturers. Officious bullies imo. I don't really care what they say. I will buy whatever putter, wedge, driver I want and swing it however I want. Just ban whatever type equipment Tiger doesn't play and mess with everyone who isn't Tiger already so he can beat Jack's record. That's what they want. -
Public Course Golfers: Anyone else notice very quiet courses this year?
thanw replied to LeftyGomez's topic in Golf Talk
How about those AWACS touch and gos into that north wind eh? My ears are still ringing. -
my take: your legs flex too much and actually flex more as the shot progresses your back swing form is fairly good until the club head gets past that branch. in the space of the first second (0:01) things go good, not so good, bad. Your elbow takes a bend and that bend continues to get worse through the down swing and follow through. It's a good thing that your elbow keeps bending more though because your legs keep dipping you closer to the ground so you would hit the ground instead of the ball if you didn't compensate with your arms somehow. try to stabilize your base and keep that left arm straighter even if it means abbreviating your back swing. Pull down and through with your left for power use the right as just a guide. I wasn't even going to write anything on this video at first because I prefer to give just one tip on these things but I gave it a shot. Hope that helps.

Guys who ask for advice are as bad as the guys who offer unsolicited advice imo. "That guy" for me is the guy who joins my threesome and before we even tee off on #1 wants to play for money. Invariably it is either some (younger or older) hustler or else some dumb butt cheater whose favorite club is a foot wedge and who can't count past 5. I hate an obnoxious single.

Something tells me it will be a very long day for whoever gets behind that group.

Unkynd, I'll be right behind you. 60F and the wind was howling today (Saturday) and Westwood looked jam packed when I drove by so it it is a tale of weekends/weekdays I guess. Stay out of the trees and have a nice round at JC. -
I love your upper body form in particular during the back swing but I have no idea what is going on with your legs. Way too much going on down there I'm thinking. Knees bent all different ways, up, down, sideways. Tape some splints to that right leg, especially with the driver. (i don't claim to be a professional that's just the way I see it.)

I prefer that to fairways with a side hill slant that funnel the ball into the rough. Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything really. There are a few holes at various courses around here that I play as a par 5 that are actually par 4s. My scores are lower on those usually if I just accept that I will hit three seven irons rather than go par dbl dbl etc.
