  1. Is 2008 a year where Tiger will continue his fairly unbeatable form, or will this be the year when he starts to fade, or could this be the year when he become completely unbeatable.... Only time will tell. I recon he may start to fade, maybe a few other players will start to close down the gap. 1 major down and 2nd place for Tiger, can he win the rest?! or even 1 more this year...........
  2. As I'm a greenkeeper I've played a few rounds with great golfers eg. they shot 5 under. But the best was a pro golfer called James Heath, I only played about 6 holes with him but he was brilliant. I think hes on the tour at the moment.
  3. You could go with a different lofted hybrid, but if your short games excellent go with the wedge. It really fepends on what your game favours. Good luck.
  4. Everyone is different, but I usually use a sand wedge. I mean sometimes shot need more height depending on the reen speed so i would then use another wedge but I would generally go for the SW.
  5. If you could only take 5 clubs around your usual course what would they be and why? I would find it fairly hard to play to my handicap with just 5 clubs..... Also if you 're up for a challenge, go play your course with the 5 clubs you chose, come back here with you 're score. Best score wins a drink on me!
  6. The governing body of golf will never let say lazer beams and stuff become legal so i think that is off the cards.... I also don't think with the current rules about equipment in place we will get drivers that hit alot further. I hope golf stays at a similar level as it is now because otherwise i recon it might lose it's charm.
  7. New clubs definetly make a difference, considering your a new starter with golf though I would stick with the old clubs untill you are sure you love the game and you have got a handicap. Then you can buy a set that will last you as you decrease your handicap instead of getting a decent set now then either realising you r don't love golf as much as you thought you did or you get quite good and need a better set. Hope this helps.
  8. yeah I do what he does.
  9. I would disagree a little, Yeah the warbird hasn't got the best feel in the world but it's got surprisingly good feel around the green and from the tee it doesn't feel too bad... but your right, The HX Hots are awesome for the price.
  10. Then I recon we have found your problem. At the bottom there is a picture of where Trevor Immelman stands, look at his positioning. Just look at the position of his hands and try and replicate that rough position. I would also recommend starting with the club shaft at a forty-five degree angle and find out where the ball meets the club face. If the ball hits the heel of the club, you are too close to the ball, if it hits the toe of the club you are probably too far away. Another important thing is to find a way to key your distance so that you stand the same way every time. Some experts recommend grip your club with your top hand, with your club touching the ground behind the ball, and extending your fingers out to touch the same spot on your body each time as you take your stance. I also think the picture at the bottom with the two golfers could also help. You can practise just getting the position right in your living room, stand by a mirror or film yourself. How far you stand away from the ball is hugely important to your game, get this right and alot of your problems might be solved. Good luck.
  11. Ireland has some great courses so I would reccomend there but if you are willing to pay a large amount to go on the top Scottish courses it is also a top destinations! have fun :D
  12. In the last year I've dropped my handicap to 7 and it comes from consistantly hiting my irons within 10 - 15 yards of the hole and driving quite far i guess. I think holing those puts is the key to a lower score.
  13. One Tuesday last week. 4 iron into a par 5 green ( second shot )..... pitched 10 yards away from the hole and rolled within 2 feet. Short put for eagle, holed it. great shot!
  14. Goals - Putting - Basically hole more puts, simple as that. Wedges - Acheive more spin control General - I'm fairly fit, I work out twice a week in the gym but im going to try and go 3 or 4 times this year. I would like to get my handicap down to 4 by July.
  15. Boxers for me :D
  16. Such a tough question. One of my favourite songs is Writing to reach you by Travis....
  17. It's possible you are topping it after hitting the ground before hand and the club bouncing off the turf and just above the ball. Olot of golfers do this thinking they are not keeping their knees bent enough. This might be what you are doing. Also you might be standing too close to the ball or to far away. Both would cause a tendency to either stand up or simply not be able to hit without topping it. Good luck mate.
  18. Shot a 6 over today, hit my irons really well and my driver but my putter was iffy. I missed a few 6 footers and I didn't hole any puts of distance. Fairly happy and it was great weather.
  19. I don't know anyone directly who plays with them but as I work as a greenkeeper I hear alot of feedback and stuff. I think that the main direction of people's comments is that the are good for mid - high handicapers. Not quite forgiving enough for beginners but not the right for excellent players. Hope this helps mate.
  20. I usually play with Hx tour Callaways or itour but I decided to play with the HX hot and Warbird last month. They (especially the warbird) are budget balls as they are quite cheap so I wasn't expecting much... but I found them to be really good, obviously not quite the same as my usuall balls but they were really consistent and had good feel and distance. I would reccomend both to begginers and people wanting fairly cheap balls.
  21. Tiger played brilliantly both years os its hard to choose one of them. Mentally 2006 was an acheivment because of the emotional strain he went through. I'm going to have to say 2006, but only just....
  22. His playing is probably partly to do with having the chance to play at Augusta, one of the most beautiful and best courses in the world every year. I mean if you had the opportuunity you would play there...
  23. I recon he just needs to play consistently this year, maybe a couple of victories on tour and a top 10 in a major. He really needs to steady himself and use this season to sort of put himself among the best in the world. He certainly has the potential he just needs consistant performances.
  24. Yeah the guys at Ping are great and the demo days are always pretty good, I'm more of a Callaway fan clubswise but Ping are also excellent.
  25. Footjoy.com: Footjoy shoes are really good quality, and if price is an issue have a look on ebay, it's great for 1st and second hand shoes, you could pick yourself up a bargain.
