1. I am constantly working on my swing and my tempo. The speed has risen marginally, so the driver I was fitted with is still the perfect fit for my game...cant go wrong by visiting your local clubfitter... then just find one speced similar in your price range
2. ... its just clear coat..perfectly harmless.
3. Try to get to a launch monitor... I began with a stiff shafted 9.5 thinking the same way.. Im 29 and pretty strong its going to do the trick....not so much. Trackman revealed that my swing speed was only 77mph and my driver spin was in the 1500's... I was fitted with a regular flex and a 12*... spin is in the mid 2000's now, with better carry and better overall distance... Save the money and frustration... get fit
4. Word! But thats only because my swing is labeled "shit swing"....
5. The more expensive the ball, the faster I lose them.. but I have had great success with qstars (about 2 rounds per ball max). E5 last about 1 round. I will chalk it up to yellow being easier to find for my eye... unless it takes a drink
6. Its in really great shape right now. Greens are beautiful. I played a scramble there a few weeks ago. Thats funny. I was right around the corner from you. Sent you a pm.
7. I am near pinewood country club in slidell now, but lived in meraux as well as the city of st. Bernard until the great flood of 2005..
8. Welcome from another St. Bernardian.. transplanted on the northshore
9. Hmmm... I must need some serious work... trackman tells me that my ss is consitant at 77mph.. I have been working on my swing speed for the recent month, but at the age of 29, 5'10, 175lbs something just doesnt add up.. I find most fairways with my driver, as I am a very straight hitter, but when I get a hold of one its usually 225 with the average of 210ish
10. E5.. but after finding a qstar on the course I bought a dozen to put in play. Seemed to compress real well with irons and felt a little softer off the driver for me..
11. 2 gloves doesnt help my feel much, I prefer to take my shoes off and put them on my hands when im on the teebox. The spikes really bite into the grip on my driver... so all I have to worry about is the shaft flying out of the grip when I swing 100%...I usially just carry 14 extra drivers each round though.
12. I have really been practicing quite alot latley, and my goal for this season is to shoot mid to low 80's... With my current focus on improving my greens in regulation and better second shot attempts on par 5's. the long par 5's have been my personal thorn in the heel so to speak.
13. I picked up a couple dozen Bridgestone e5's. My wife picked up a new Taylormade R1 driver for me as an anniversary present. I took it our for a spin on Sunday shooting a my personal best on the front nine, but I had a few blow up holes on the back nine that didn't do me justice!
14. This video is a major help with slicers... it helps you keep the shoulders square thru the swing and keeps your mind off of" hitting" and helps you swing thru the ball and sweep it from the tee...
15. Played a course this weekend with terrible bunkers. High lips (which typically I like), but the sand played like a shot off of the cart path... felt like each sand shot would cause damage to either a club or me physically.
16. You wont really be cheating yourself of distance if it suits your swing. I play a 10.5* and because of my slower swing speed I actually gained significant distance with a 12*. I am a very low spin guy so the added loft gives me better carry which then yeilds distance. Get fit. I wish I would have a year ago when I bought my current driver.
17. If a ball doesnt work for you. Use something bigger like a 2x4. I bought a piece of 6x6 to give me the illusion that I was hitting against a wall. No one wants to hit thier club against a wall... the shanks will pass. Just practice the drill very frequently. Every time I practice I use the wood eventhough my shanks have been gone for several months. It reassures me that impact positions are where they need to be.
18. I speculate that it actually has less to do with the actual hand position, but more to do with how the shoulders relate to the the hands. In other words, the closer the hands are to your sternum the more square your shoulders will be to the target line. With all things equal you can manipulate your shoulders square with hands forward, however it is harder to achieve that position naturally. Try to hit a couple drives with your club and hands at your center point and see how it affects flight. You may be surprised how straight your drives become because your shoulder are staying square to the target line for a longer duration of time naturally. Listen to your instructor first and formost, but playing around with hand positioning will help you understand how your body reacts during the swing. The farther forward the hands *typically* the more open your shoulders will be when you are playing the ball forward.
19. A parole agent that sleeps in late and does karaoke on nights and weekends?
20. Lahinch in Ireland without a doubt was the most amazing experience for me as a golfer. I was able to walk to old course on a slow day by myself and just take in the natural beauty and the feeling of playing golf the way it was intended.
21. I just started using the long putter last year and it has made the game so much more enjoyable for me! I actually look forward to practicing my putting. I tried conventional putting for a few years when I first started playing, then moved to the belly putter on a whim, which felt really awkward, then tried the long putter. I will never give up my long stick! I will however, buy another conventional putter to practice with and hone my skill for local tourneys but will use the long putter for all recreational rounds.
