  1. Am I right in thinking it used to say lone players must make way to a match of any kind but was removed a few years ago? Maybe some people still think that's the case
  2. Is the problem the slow play due to skill level or the fact that they did not let you play through?
  3. DNF Walked off the course today after 8 holes Could not hit a single shot with anything in my bag I feel golf lessons have ruined any enjoyment I had in the game
  4. I think the best course of action is to never laugh at anything, Ever Better safe than sorry
  5. Who says that is happening? I assume he's asking advice before his own shot or after someone else has gone The time wasting is a different matter all together
  6. Everyone keeps bringing up either playing in Comps or playing for money, Both of which I agree with as there is something at stake The OP never mentioned either and eludes to the fact its a friendly game between work mates, That's why I don't see the big issue
  7. I agree 100% but reading the OP first post it would seem its just friends/work mates playing golf, if that is the case then is there really a issue with someone asking what club you have used or what club they would go with on a certain shot? The time wasting/shot shaving is another matter all together and would annoy anybody
  8. Why? Is his handicap effecting anybody else on the course? Does his handicap give him some sort of head start Myself and the two friends I play with are quite new to golf (18 months) and we ask advice from each other all through the round, What club to use, best place to aim etc, Should we throw away our clubs and never play another round of golf? You are playing for fun, your not in a comp and no money is involved, Why the big issue, Like I said earlier, If there is a problem speak to him like an adult instead of crying about it on a forum
  9. Yer that makes sense I guess what I am saying is I have no idea how to figure mine out
  10. Why not act like an adult and speak to the man Explain were he is going wrong and ask him to refrain from doing it again, If he doesn't then insist that he finds other people to play golf with I actually don't see the problem with the "Advice" thing, Unless you are playing for money
  11. Is there any real point in keeping a handicap unless you are playing in comps
  12. Shot 94 today which I am happy with Have been taking lessons and my irons have come on a great deal, I am taking a nice divot on most shots and they are going much further with a better contact Down side is I can not hit a Driver/3/5 wood and 3 hybrid without topping it/doffing it along the floor, I used to hit these clubs fine, Very frustrating
  13. Yes the Pro I am getting lessons off said the same, He wants to see a thin divot after the ball (Easier said than done) I went the range today and could not hit anything well, I left and had numb fingers and a sore thumb on my right hand from club vibration, It was near on impossible to know if I had carried out a good shot, I came home frustrated grabbed my 8 iron and went onto the field behind my house, I hit 20-30 good shots out of say 50 taking a nice divot on quite a few, I think I will be giving the driving range a miss from now on
  14. I understand I can not win the prize but I am just entering for fun if that's ok? Kaymer -9 Stenson -7 McIlory -7 Might go and watch this seeing as its in my home city
  15. I am a quite a new player (Prob 18 months) and have started to get lessons, One of the things I have been told to practise is shifting most of my weight to my left leg on the down swing so that I take a divot after the ball How is it possible to know you have hit a good shot (Divot) at a driving range, We have no ranges in the UK that offer the use of grass?
  16. I play once a week (Sat morning) and shot anywhere from 92 to 115 Some weekends I can hit some really nice clean shots, Other weekends I am hacking around the course shanking everything in sight Still love it though
  17. Went round in 93, Two 8's and a 6 on a par 3 really let me down Just wondering is scoring between 93-98 ok for someone who has been playing seriously for 18 months or should I be getting lower scores?
  18. These arrived yesterday replacing my Taylormade Burner OS irons All's I can say is wow Its just near on impossible to not get the ball in the air, You know when the ball has hit the heal/toe but it still goes high and far The clubs are very light and very good to look at for GI irons, Everything felt right, The sound of impact was great and every part of the club blow the taylormades out of the water I have been playing poorly the last two to three months scoring around 110-115, Today I finished with a 96,My iron shots just felt so controlled Best £400 I have spent
  19. Unless you are playing in a comp the only person you are cheating is yourself Whats the point in saying you have shot 80 when you know its more like a 98, Its something I have never understood I play in a 4 ball every Sat/Sun and one of the players is always cheating, He seems to find every ball no matter how deep the rough (He carrys a ball in his pocket at all times), If he has had a bad hole lets say 10-11 strokes he asks myself and the other 2 our score then adds one stroke to the worst one, He is forever lagging at the back so nobody sees him scuffing shots and the worst one for me is watching him kick the ball if its behind a tree or at a bad angle Funny thing is he comes last every week
  20. I started playing golf seriously around Feb this year and was shooting 115 to 125 every week, I hacked around the course losing 10-12 balls a round Had my first of 3 lessons around two months ago and am now getting into the 90s nearly every week, This weekend I shot a 89 Lessons have helped me a great deal in understanding what I am doing wrong, Without them I would have never known what to fix and how to fix it
  21. 98 today Two holes destroyed my score, Got a 10 and a 9, One on the 1st and then on the 16th Both times because I went into a bunker and hacked away 5-6 times until I got out
  22. Second hand Ping G10 4 wood 14 Taylormade Burner balls Bionic golf club Taylormade Burner iron head covers
  23. I do not know what my handicap is because if I am honest I have no idea at all on how to work it out, I have looked on various sites and it baffles me so I have never bothered Also I do not think I would be any lower than 36 max
  24. Broke into the 80s today, Just Shot an 89, Missed a couple of birdie putt's too Happy as I have only been playing seriously for around 6 months
  25. Maybe we should all stay away from golf course's until we are under a 10 handicap, That way we will not get in the way of these PGA pro golfers out there
