Gap wedges are very, very useful. That's why I don't have a 56/60 degree wedges combination, but one 58 degrees wedge (which is very useful). I think that in your combination, you're definitely missing a gap wedge! You have an 11 degree gap there! Fil it up with a wedge of 50-52 degrees! Makes life a lot easier. But then, since you have to many clubs in the bag, replace your 5-wood and 3-iron with one 3 hybrid, if your budget still allows you to, and if not: make sure it will in the future and untill then leave one club out. That's what I'd do.

Which fairwaywoods do you use?
maschoemaker replied to hypergolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm not using any fairwaywoods currently. I'm looking for a 3-wood. My 3-hybrid equals a 5-wood and a 3-iron (hybrid easier from the fairway and 3-iron easier for the tee, I guess). I don't really know yet which one and I want to get fitted in the US, when I'm there for holiday in two weeks (live in the Netherlands, where prices are outrageous). -
I've got an HDTV. But since we live in the Netherlands there aren't a lot of HD broadcasters... Just Discovery and NGC. But now temporarely: The European Cup (football), Tour de France and the Olympics in HD! And soon: Eurosport HD ;) So it'll come, it just takes time.

Currently I'm looking for a new 3 Wood. That means going to the local store and trying a demo. Now I'm really wondering: how come most demo's are draw clubs, especially those of the Callaway FT-series? What's up with the draw? They hit great but I can't know how the neutral plays if there isn't one avaible to try? I've also looked in other shops and how come most are draws as well. Why is it virtually impossible to find (especially Callaway) neutral demo clubs?

I'd get me one if they weren't so expensive. I'd want one, but I'm it's only a phone. Currently I have a seperate iPod Video 60GB and a seperate very simple 3-button (call, text and on/off, more I don't need!) Nokia 6310 telephone. In other words: I'll only get when I find a good deal or when one of those I already have break down. Then I'd need the 3G since I live in Europe.

Field Hockey: nothing better dan a quick dummy or likewise to pass your opponent, and hit the ball right into the nets like it's a drive Drums: really loving the beat and the quick snare roll techniques

Actually I'm wondering: what kinds of exercises are there to improve your length? I really feel like I lost some distance since I don't have any PE at school anymore. Field hockey and golf itself just don't cover that up in strength.

Anyone Playing Callaway Heavenwood Hybrids?
maschoemaker replied to TinCupTampa's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Nope... Just hitting straight with it (same 3H, steel shaft). Sometimes I hook it, but that's me. Very few to no slices at all! -
17 years old, turning 18 next month. (july 20th 1990) Have been playing for about 3 years now.

Chip in from 35 yards! Eventually parring the hole after some unlucky lies and waiting about 10 very long minutes for the flight in front of us to leave the green Last week: Nearly a 50 yard pitch in from the deep rough on our 460 yards longest par 4. The ball kissed the hole...

My goals: - Play consistently in mid-80, not the current high-80's/lower-90's. - Drop index from 16.6 to around 12-13 (now at 14.8) - Better consistency in the short game and the drives (that's were I lose it)

I always like bright colors on the golf course. Why? Because you can wear them there! (Typically dutch thing here)

Preferbly around 9:30 AM. Than I'm fittest

About 240 yards on average. Maybe 270 when I'm having a really good day

Tired of People Hating on the 3-iron
maschoemaker replied to iacas's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I also have a 3 iron in the bag, but I really use it rarely. I'm not good enough with it yet, still need to practice a lot. Now I only use it when there is a gale force wind in the face, so the ball has to go low in order to go far. -
i just realized how hard my irons are to hit
maschoemaker replied to JYB's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just got the AP2. As the same with the MP-57 (which both are excellent clubs), it's not that hard to hit. You don;t have to wait until 2009 because technology won't advance thát fast! The AP2 just got released. -
5 wood or hybrid? Which are you using?
maschoemaker replied to JYB's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have tried both 20* hybrid (Callaway Heavenwood 3 hybrid with steel shaft) as well as a 5-wood (various). I came to the conclusion that I get the same distance with both clubs. Only the 5-wood is easier to hit from the tee and the hybrid is easier to hit from the rough or in bunkers when you have a clean lie. So I went with the hybrid because I like being able to get out of the rough with some distance. -
Titleist vs. Mizuno irons
maschoemaker replied to shsgolfer#1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've tried both the Mizuno's as well as the Titleists. They really felt very, very similar. Titleist had a better fitting program than Mizuno. I couldn't be fit for the mizuno's as for the titleist . That's why I went for the Titleist. Both are really great and I don't regret buying it. -
Best golf ball....UMM???
maschoemaker replied to thedub's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I'm a member of two local courses. One golf course is probably designed to loose golf balls... I use whatever there is in my bag. (really, the fairways are only 20-25 yard wide, the rough is sometimes 2 feet tall and even in the semi-rough balls are unfindable) At the other course it's much harder to loose a ball, and the greens are a lot better. So I can use more expensive golf balls. Sometimes ProV1, but usually I still loose one or two balls per round, so I still prefer to use a ball less expensive but still very good (like Titleist NXT). -
Titleist vs. Mizuno irons
maschoemaker replied to shsgolfer#1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Currently I find myself also looking for a new set. I also ended up comparing Titleist with Mizuno. I am doubting between the Titleist AP2 and the Mizuno MP57. I now have played with both irons. While I'm still not sure, I tend to go towards the Mizuno. The Titleist irons are great either but the Mizuno's, they feel slightly better, their distance as well as their direction is slightly more constant and a miss hit isn't directly punished as badly as the Titleist. Though both are very easy to hit. Though I do have to tell you that the Mizuno's had a slightly lighter shaft (Nippon NS 1150GH R) than the Titleist (Dynamic Gold S300), but that should not make a really really big difference. -
Currently I'm still using my old Silver Scot 845s (Tommy Armour). But now they're getting too old and I want to replace them. I'm doubting between the Titleist AP2 irons and the Mizuno MP-57. I tend to go for the Mizuno because I seem to have more control with them. For me as well as their direction as there distance is more constant then the AP2.

I've got a Taylormade R7 460 and I really love it. If you hit it good it's a 'stripe'. Any other driver I tried had a slightly different direction, little right or little left. This one went straight for me and far. No regrets: just really great drives. But when I don't have my day: i just slice it way out of bounce sometimes (but that's me...)

I'm using a 20* Callaway Heavenwood 3H steel shaft. It just hits easy, gives you some control and goes little further than any other hybrids I've compared it with (Mizuno latest something, TM burner, Ping G10)
