  1. Driver - 190 1h - 145 2h - 125 3-PW - 899.00 48*, 52*, 60* - 300 Putter - 150 Bag - 100 My wife never seeing this post - priceless
  2. Michael Vernon also wrote "The Greatest Player Who Ever Lived" and "The Greatest Course That Ever Was". Both fun reads. The Eddie Camminetti series by Troon McAllister is entertaining and "Match Made in Heaven" by Bob Mitchell will make you think a little.
  3. Use the 1 iron. Any so called "envoronmentalist" who doesn't understand that a golf course is a better alternative to one more strip mall or subdivision should have his fimo-bead necklace stripped off and his favorite hacky-sac destroyed. Great rant.
  4. I think that I've tried every premium tour level ball on the market over the last year and I couldn't tell one from the other without labels. I know that I shot the same scores with all of them. I would recommend buying the least expensive ball in the catagory that fits your game the best.
  5. Fly fishing is my other money pit. I'm almost as bad about buying fly rods as I am putters. Unfortunantly it is not my other "time pit". Two kids and a new course right down the road...who's got time to fish?
  6. Driver 8.5* 1h 14* 2h 17* 3-PW 52* GW 60* LW I love this set up. All players should add hybrids to there bag, IMO. They have made a hugh difference in my long game. I think that I'm going to order a 48* wedge to see if I can add a little more versatility to my short game. Do you think that my wife will mind......?
  7. Since this was titled "etiqutte question", I hope that you and your buddy made sure that it couldn't have been another golfer's ball. If the ball was in the toolies and not just the rough then it's yours. If I find a ball in the rough and there is even a remote possibility that it could be someones on another hole I leave it. I know that I hit the ball two fairways over at times.
  8. I don't know if it has been mentioned or not, but Great Lakes Brewing Co.'s Dortmunder Gold is the best lager I've ever had. If I have a taste for pale ale I'll go with Sierra Navada.
  9. Here is another vote for cheaper, more often. But definetly checkout the internet specials. There is a $75 course that I play for under $20 regularly using LMG.
  10. Sounds like a great expierience. I'm planning a trip out to Bandon next summer and I'm already way too excited about it.
  11. Any course you play should have a course handicap table in the Pro Shop.
  12. I agree. My wife told me I could buy a new driver for my birthday. I went out and hit a bunch of the new models. i really liked the Nike but I wasn't adding any yardage with it. I just couldn't justify spending the money without any improved results. It sounds like I can get a few more years of use out my old R580 before I need to worry about it losing its "pop". But, taking this discussion a step further, will a graphite shaft lose any of its characteristics over time? Will the flex change from use? Thanks for the replies. Jeff
  13. I used to say that I would never buy Callaway equip. I thought of them as hackers clubs. I then had two kids and went form playing three times a week to once or twice a month. I quickly traded the Titelist 990's in for the X-Tours. My index has actually dropped since I switched. Never say never! Jeff
  14. A friend of mine told me that he read somewhere that a titanium driver will loose its "snap" after a while. This is a smrt guy ( mechanical engineer) and I trust him but I have never heard this before, so I thought that I would ask a bunch of total strangers instead of doing any actual research on the subject. Has anyone else heard of this? Jeff
  15. I'm still using the old TM R580XD. I hit it longer and straighter than any other driver I've ever hit. Of course, I haven't hit any of the new drivers because I know that I would fall in love and then have to explain to my wife why I need to spend $400 on a new driver.
