Supposedly a contract is in the works to bring the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs to the Black. It has bounced around courses in the NY Metro area since leaving Westchester CC where it will not return to. Westchester is getting the Senior Players Championship this year to complete their contract. They were supposed to host the Barclay's one more time but the club members and the PGA Tour weren't really interested. http://golf.lohudblogs.com/2011/01/10/faxon-anxious-to-come-back-to-wcc/

I saw an interview with her on Golf Channel. She said it was strange hitting hybrids on par 3's and hit more 4 and 5 irons then she normally would have to. She did outdrive one of her playing partners on the 18th hole on Tuesday though.

They haven't made the cut yet. She tees off at 11:51 today.

Brittany Lincicome fresh off her 3rd place finish (1 under 71) against 12 guys in a Moonlight Tour event will tee it up this week on the Hooters Tour (no jokes needed). Apparently she is just bored and wants to play some competitive golf. It's a three round event 1/11-13 at Deer Island Golf Club in Tavares, FL. She averaged 276 off the tee last year. 8:06 am 1 Lincicome, Brittany - Seminole, FL Sucher, Zack - Mobile, AL Whitby , Jay - Wyoming, DE Results can be seen here http://ngawinter.tourgolfscores.com//gscode/tlist.cfm ?

What's really telling is Golf Channel gets more viewers then MLB Network and NBA TV, and I'm sure D* has no intention of dropping them.

If your talking Whitney Farms, I don't think that green will be doing any more growing until April.

If your course was closed what were you doing on the putting green?

With Skycaddie, you have to subscribe to a plan to download courses that they map. Plenty of information about that available on their website. You don't need a plan if you map courses yourself. Some other brands of GPS units don't require a plan. The use of distance measuring devices in tournament play is only allowed if the local rule is adopted by the committee.

I don't think she should be granted additional sponsor exemptions. I am in favor of allowing her to join the tour even though she is under 18 but she should have to get there under the same rules as everyone else.

I think he was just trying to prove Ben Wright was wrong.

I can't wait for Tiger's first encounter with the PGA Tour's new cell phone rule.

Of all the courses I've played this year I've seen four different methods for indicating pin placements. 1. Color coded flags 2. Zones - greens are divided into 3 to 6 zones and you are told the pin number for that day. You refer to a diagram of the green on the cart or scorecard for the pin placement on each green. 3. Pin sheet - gives you the distance the pin is from the middle of the green. 4. GPS - tells you the distance to the pin with a shot of the green showing the exact location.

They must have had a tough summer. When I played there earlier this year the greens were the best I've played on in a while. Only some areas of the rough were thin. A marshal found my ball when I hit it right on 7.

New York weather in November
RemyM replied to 65withatriple's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
November is still fine to play in the NYC area. Daytime average temps are in the 50's but since night time temps can be in the 30's frost is very likely in the morning so most places delay play until after 9:00 am. -
Having played there I don't think it's crazy expensive, in fact they lowered their price $20 this year. I spend that much most Sundays during the season playing top daily fee courses in my area. They used to host the LPGA Championship there that's why they have the great short game area. It was added when they got the tournament, the range was always there. You could call and see if they'll let you use it. There is a course near me with a great facility that charges $30 for 4 hours if you're not playing.

I saw on Golf Central last night that next year's TV coverage of the first two rounds of the Masters will air from 3:00 - 7:30 ET on ESPN. That's a one hour earlier start then in past years.
-
NBC was showing the Notre Dame game at 3:30 so only the early window was available for golf. They obviously wanted to show the leaders finish their round. You should know by now that TV controls all sports.

Many events have a Pro-Am pairing party on Tuesday night where they find out who their pro is.

I also forgot to mention Wintonbury Hills, a great municipal course in Bloomfield, CT that Pete Dye did in 2005 for a fee of $1. Golfweek rated it the #1 Municipal Course in New England and #11 in the country. http://www.wintonburyhills.com/index.php

Bulle Rock is a Pete Dye course that opened in 1998 and it is fantastic and fair. The LPGA Championship was played there for 5 years. http://www.bullerockgolf.com/bullero...p?s_id=1788586 Pound Ridge opened in 2008 and is difficult, and a few holes are very tight, but a great course. http://www.poundridgegolf.com/

I looked him up on GHIN.com. It says he is a +3.0 but hasn't posted a score in 2 years. Impressive round, nothing higher then a 4 on any hole.
-
If the course has no rating or slope then the score can't be posted for handicap purposes.
