I'm keeping that to myself Looking back my post seemed more argumentative towards fourputt than I intended. I really was just looking to give more info to anyone who read it as to what the device actually does since a lot of the things people have heard about it involve mainly yardages. For me I like having all my stats presented to me on one page. The device records your location and gamegolf can use that info for a number of things, only some of which are implemented now, they are working on new things too. They just added the dispersion thing in last week showing how often you miss left or right or long/short

If your looking for a lesson in the city, Jesse Struebing has a spot inside MIT. He helped me out a lot even though I have only been to him twice I have definitely cut some strokes off my HC because of him

It's not in the same category as a GPS, its not meant to help you with your round on the course its to break the round down after. And club distance is only one thing it tracks. I have on and could not be happier with it. Knowing my fairways, GIR, putts per round, dispersion on approach shots and more without having to take more then half a second between shots to tap my club to my side. Yes you can do all this with a notebook but really who wouldnt want everything wrapped up in one easy to use beltclip. You can also do without any GPS by finding yardage markers and counting your steps, just cause its possible doesnt mean its the most efficient way

My original new golf buddy got a new job so he is out. My friend Jay joined my for a range session a month or so ago and he has been enjoying it. He also ended up getting a job though so he can't put as much time in as he wanted but we are going back to the range tomorrow and we are going to get on a course before June is over.

I have gone to almost every indoor golf facility around me since about 50% of my time being interested in golf has been while there is snow on the ground. There is not enough space on this forum for me to go over all of the problems these places have. Most of which are brought on by themselves. Small upkeep like correctly patching holes in the hitting net if not replacing. Switching tees regularly(the one closest to me has the adjustable orange tee that goes into the rubber insert in mat) The bar scene, only one of the places I have gone has a full bar, others are BYOB. The one with a bar is losing out on huge revenue by not sending someone around to see if people want another drink. My buddy, his brother and I went the other day and as soon as we got to the place they each got a beer, they finished and were empty for 5-10 minutes before my friend went up to get another round for them. Unfortunately since we were playing kind of slow we had to hurry a bit and he never bothered walking over to the bar for another round. When we left they went to another bar to get drinks, I couldn't believe it. My advice to you is don't do it alone, each time I have gone to one of these places I feel like there owner/manager is doing all the work and just isn't able to see the full picture and make as big of an impact as possible. My friend and I have toyed with the idea of trying to open one of these and I think we would make a good team since we look at things differently, that is key when there is a high risk of going under. And lastly, don't hire a bunch of high school kids. They really couldn't care less if your customers are having a good time. They won't care that your not maximizing profits. Don't underestimate the fact that these are the people your rely on to get your customers to come back.

Jamo, I was going to try that fore kicks place in marlborogh next week, do you like it? Is it big enough to get a good idea of ball flight?

I actually just started to do this last week. So my pledge is to keep it up. I took him to a golf simulator since we have snow banks about 4 feet high here still. He shot like 90 something through 9 holes but he had fun. He was just using the rental clubs which will make this even more expensive but I searched craigslist and picked up a few clubs here and there some free some cheap and built a whole set up for him to use going forward. I hope to keep him into it. This is a great thread

This makes me want to play at more courses to get a chance to play a round with someone famous. That round with Dennis Leary someone mentioned must have been a blast. I feel like no one famous plays around Boston much, they must go South.

I liked far corners, I normally play Wenham CC since its less than 5 minutes away from my work. The only other courses I have played more than once or so was Black Swan in Georgetown and Gannon in Lynn which is only about 5 minutes away from home for me. I will have to try some of these other ones out when the weather warms up.

Shortest par 3 I have played was 90 yards, longest was 246. I don't know if there is a universal standard but probably something like if you have a wedge off the tee box then its a short par 3, anything over an Iron off tee box its long. For par 4 there can be a huge range there but if you can hit the green off the tee or at least have a short chip on would have to be considered short, as for long par 4's they get up close to 500..which is hard to hit in 2 for a lot of people

I once had a simulator tell me my 8 iron went 230 yards...i like to pretend they are very accurate

I first started with aiming left, but then I realized it would only get worse and worse. So I figured if it gets worse by aiming left, aim more right. Aim to the right side of the fairway...it actually helped a lot. Your mind kind of fixes some of the things going wrong, i quickly developed a draw from doing this. There is definitely more I need to work on to perfect it since I occasionally hit a hook or accidentally hit it too straight which misses right. But never try and aim left on a slice...try using some reverse psychology and aim even further into it

I was on vacation up in Niagra Falls a couple months ago, I decided to wake up early and head over to a close by John Daly course. It was a par 5, I hit a pretty good drive off the tee, hit my second shot up the fairway and chipped on to the green with about 10 ft left. I had only been playing for about 3-4 months at that point but I was pretty confident in my putting, such a good feeling seeing it go in. I ended up shooting pretty terrible the rest of the round but I still have that ball.

I haven't been to the one in Natick, Only the one in Middleton. Luckily there is also a couple heated ranges as well pretty close to me. The simulators are fun but can be a bit inaccurate at times. I played Agusta the other day on one and had a 235 yard 7 iron....i WISH Its nice to keep swinging during the colder weather.

So I picked up a fairly cheapo putting matt for practice at home. However it is one of those types that has an elevated cup for no other reason that I see than to have the ball roll back towards you after it goes in to the hole. My question is, will this have a negative effect on my practicing. I feel as though in the long run it may hurt my judgement of the speed in real life situations

Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. Guiseppe, I'm also a righty and it always looks way left to me. Even if I see a line going mabe 6 inches to the right of them ball I stand over it and looks like I'm aiming left. The hardest part is I can't fully get my head out of it and always seem to miss the sweet spot on my putter because of it looking off. So I have a lot of bad misses. I did buy a cheap putting mat and I like the idea of using some alignment sticks to straighten it up. Thanks for the input everyone

I have tried to start using a straight line drawn on my golf ball during putting to help keep me on the line i pick out. However as much as I read it from behind the ball and set the line towards it, when I stand over the ball to go ahead and putt it looks off. Is my mind playing tricks on me? Anyone else have issues with this?

Thanks very much for the response. I have not done much with my right hand grip but I change my left from time to time. So I will give that a try. I honestly never knew my backswing went so far until this video was taken a few days ago so I will definitely have to try and limit my backswing a bit, which I can hopefully tie in with a bit more wrist hinge.
