Does seem mildly surprising I suppose. This is what jumped out at me: 82 Charles Barkley -23 -32 -26 -81 -81 OUCH!

My boss did the same thing by packing everything in the cover bag, but that was before all of this extra fee nonsense that cropped up. I'll probably do that and see how it goes. I'm not too hot on shipping my clubs over ahead. Thanks for your input, guys!

Found it myself. Maybe this will help someone else. United International Baggage Rules Not a good sign really. 62 linear in/ 158 linear cm (length + width + height) That makes this product way over the limit: http://www.golfsmith.com/products/BB00T6 Anyone hit by any hassles on this?

With clubs of course. I'm flying United to England in August. They have instituted these asinine bag fees along with American (anyone see the beauty there? American=fees; how appropriate). The only policy I can find on their web site is for domestic flights or to and from Canada. Has anyone traveled United internationally since this has been enacted or know what the deal is with bringing a travel bag of clubs across the pond?

Well, that settles it then. joshtpa, you are just going to have to drop that opinion.

For you, jcrew, I'll quote myself:

I can't remember the exact sentence, but I do remember it was right after DJ Trahan hit an approach shot that he was visibly upset about. Flipped his club at his bag and made his caddy flinch. Then the ball lands within 15 ft. Faldo and the others couldn't believe he was upset and Faldo let it slip out. Edit: Something like, "He shouldn't worry about that shit" or "You shouldn't be bothered by shit." Damn, I'm going to hell...

For you Big Break watchers I couldn't help laugh out loud when the young girl (name escapes me) would say, "Oh sugar!" She's living on the edge, that one.

Definitely thought about it. Even took a look at Golfsmith. Couldn't find a single one. All 15-15.5 deg. 3 woods or 19 deg. 5 woods. I guess it would have to be the internet. It would be nice to at least hit one off the indoor mats.

What planet/country you from Stacy? It is the middle of the summer. Kids are out. Sorry, if you couldn't tell but tongue was firmly planted in cheek . As the late, great George Carlin said, "F*** the children. 'He didn't just say F*** the children, did he?' Yes I did! F*** the children!"

New study suggests that it may be more of a physical issue than previously thought. http://www.discoverychannel.ca/shows...=9244&sid;=9215 "Although performance anxiety may cause the yips in many golfers, muscle and nervous system deterioration caused by prolonged overuse may be at the root of the problem for other players," says Smith. "This may explain why some get relief and play successfully by changing their grip or by switching to a longer putter."

They aren't driving your Porsche. They are hitting a ball with a golf club.

Anyone catch Nick Faldo drop the S-bomb on the Congressional telecast today. I was on my laptop half watching and heard it. "Huh?" I grabbed the Tivo controller and confirmed I heard it right. None of the other commentators acknowledged it. He later apologized using "a word he shouldn't have". Nobody commented on that either. All I have to say is, WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?!?!?!

Hey guys: I'd love it if this thread becomes a good discussion of Central Texas course conditions. On that theme, has anyone played Jimmy Clay or Roy Kizer in the last 6 weeks. I really like Kizer, but the conditions about 4 months ago were so bad (dead greens) that I haven't gone near it since. Just checking to see if they have improved. Thanks!

I used this site. http://www.golfclubdemo.com/ Worked out great. And they have Mizunos. Didn't buy the clubs though....
-
Sorry for this long setup: Right now I'm using some large faced, cavity back irons and I like them. Since I bought them and started playing hardcore (avg. twice a week), I've dropped my handicap from 17 to 11. Besides the amount of playing, I also took 10 individual lessons over a year ago that I think was the real reason I dropped to 11. Now it seems the general consensus is that I would be outgrowing my current irons and should start using something in the "game improvement" class. My question to you all knowledgeable lot is: do irons that give more feedback really make you a better golfer? I demo'd some Mizuno MX-25's for two rounds. I thought they would be a good step to see what more feedback was like. I was not blown away. Ok, so I felt mishits more. The actual quality of the shots seemed pretty much the same however. Ironically, I didn't like how they felt! With this information, I admit I don't hit the sweet spot a lot. So what do I do with that feedback? It would seem to me more lessons would be the answer. But more lessons should be the answer anyway if you want to improve as a golfer. I'm not at a stage yet that I feel workability is desirable. I desire to hit it straight consistently! Anyway, thanks for any opinions you have on this. PS: BTW, I've seen that huge thread debating "muscle back v. cavity back". I was looking for the more specific answer to question above.

Old, rusty wedges. I don't get it.
Hays33d replied to Hays33d's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
From what I've read here, those that like them give "looks" and "feel" as reasons to use them. I can understand those things. But performance would seem to be very important also. I find it hard to believe the old wedge outperforms the newest line of wedges when it comes to hitting out of the rough and stopping the ball on the green. Nobody has said they get the grooves sharpened, which leads me to believe they are dull. That seems to me that you are essentially playing with dated wedges and aren't taking advantage of the grooves (until they are outlawed). With the new wedges now days, it would seem a no brainer. But as with a lot of things, and golf is no different, there will always be people who value style over substance (off topic: reminds me of a guy I played with last week with 30 year old iron blades and a wooden shaft putter and he shot a 110 struggling all day AND he was frustrated while saying, "I'm a traditionalist." I wanted to shake him and say, "wake up and smell the technology!") -
Now I'm not trying to disrespect anyone's "tradition" and weepy feelings over favorite clubs, but this weird obsession some players have with old, rusty wedges is just beyond me. These same players have the latest in drivers and irons. Even 2 ball Odyssey putters and play with ProV1s. But they play these old wedges that look like they've been in a garage since 1962. Doesn't the grooves get warn on these things? Is everyone who uses these wedges getting the grooves sharpened every year? And if not, isn't that going to an unnecessary disadvantage hitting out of the rough? Honestly, it would seem to be to be very limiting to have something that didn't have sharp grooves.

So one response to vandalism using a Nazi symbol is to maim and torture a person with a religious symbol and another is to use a slur for a group of people that the Nazi's persecuted. Irony is pretty ironic....

Agreed. Besides being inaccurate, she is duuuuuulllllll. It appears that someone over at the LPGA is doing here a 'favor' for her contribution to the game, but they are just hurting themselves instead. Definitely a step back in promoting their image of "These girls rock." There has got to be some washed up, former pro that has a personality and some insight into the game that is not over 60 years old that they can tap.
-
Ha...I didn't consider that. Yeah....a pro better shoot better than 84 or they are going to get ripped by the writers, not to mention in the locker room.
-
The reason they call officials so often? Being DQ'd for signing a wrong score card. This may be straying off topic a bit, but this rule is way too harsh. If you are fighting to stay in the top 125 and a DQ blows all your earnings for the week, you'd call over a rules official too.

Can't remember which magazine, but I wish they'd leave out the "Groaners" section (basically bad jokes that someone would say in your group). All it does is remind me of the guy who can't shut up for 30 seconds all day and hits you with stupid jokes on every tee box. "haha.....good one."
