  1. They're pretty good but their is only one place near me that sells them in diet- and I never drink regular drinks, so it's kind of annoying only being able to get them at a golf course 40 minutes away.
  2. I completely agree with the notion that rust doesn't increase spin- it makes perfect sense if you think about it. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...3Doff%26sa%3DN I found this though, and I'm a bit confused. It's from golf.com so I would like to think it's from a reputable source, but the argument does go against logic. Can anyone explain why the test found these results?
  3. Yeah the freak is a good ball . I forgot to mention in my last post- about a month ago the local sports authority had a sale on these golf balls. I think it was something like 5 dollars a dozen (they were sold in the two ball trial packs). I ended up buying 4 or 5 dozen for under 30 dollars.
  4. I actually did take a chunk out of a freak about a month ago with my cg14. I haven't really done it to too many balls, so when it happened to that I was really surprised just because distance balls really don't have the same tendency to shred as do premium balls (based on what I've read, I normally don't keep a ball long enough to do that much damage to it )
  5. I used those a while ago- I think it was close to a year. I had gotten a golf ball box filled with tees, ball markers, etc. from a friend. I remember seeing this tee and thinking it looked unique so I'd try it. It worked fine, didn't break or anything, but as for added distance- I highly doubt it does anything. My swing (any almost everyone else's IMO) is no where near perfect enough to be able to measure a discernible distance change with any golf tee. And if I do remember correctly, it did kind of like pop open when I hit it. Try it I guess, but I'll stick with my epoch tees that I have.
  6. I'm really liking mine now. I have the Odyssey Sabertooth. The insert is really soft (something that helps a lot since I tend to hit the ball harder). Also it's weighted pretty well- I'm able to make a pretty smooth stroke with it. However, if you were using a more traditional blade, I'm not sure how easy the transition would be to something so radical looking. If you can get over the look, which personally I really like, it's a great putter.
  7. It's definitely felt cooler to me. I spent the last week and a half in hilton head where it was in the mid-high 90's. When I got back here it was mid 60's-low 70's.
  8. Don't waste your money. The only advantage to them is that you are able to consistently tee your ball up at a certain, predetermined height. If that height works for you great, but if it doesn't they're pointless. IMO get zero friction or epoch tees. They last forever. I've only seen one break- and that was after something like 72 holes. Well worth the money; they're similar in price to brush tees although you get something like 50 compared to 2.
  9. trageserk I probably won't get the game for a couple of weeks and my live account isn't active right now (I have to buy another one of those stupid cards).
  10. http://www.golfgalaxy.com/galaxy/pro...3SJPEJN9L984XD I just ordered a pair of these the other night. I don't think that that picture really does them justice though- and for 80 dollars its a pretty good deal.
  11. Got mine today. I'll try them probably tomorrow.
  12. Thanks for all the replies/suggestions everyone. I ended up playing the Ocean Course and the Arthur Hills Course (I stayed in Sea Pines). The Ocean Course was my favorite of the two- it was in great condition and had some really nice views. The 15th hole (I think it was a par 3) had a really great view of the ocean and also the owner of Home Depot's House is right on the hole. Pretty challenging, yet definitely fun. The Arthur Hill's Course however was a bit different. My view of it is definitely biased as both the fairways and greens had been aerated, so it was in no where near the same condition as the Ocean Course. It still had some EXTREMELY difficult holes (at least compared to what I'm used to). From what I could tell it was a pretty nice course, but the ocean course was my favorite. I almost got to play Harbour Town. We were going to go possible on Wednesday, but there were torrential downpours that entire day- it would have been impossible to play. From what I saw of the course (I went bike riding around the Sea pines plantation) it was in amazing condition and was actually empty- I only saw one person on it, and he was a resident who lived on the course and was practicing his putting. Next time I go I'm definitely playing it.
  13. There are definitely balls that are more conducive to ball mark wear. Try writing with a sharpie on any "straight" or "slice-eliminating" ball- it's almost impossible to get a line on it, even when it's perfectly dry/brand new.
  14. A dozen Top-Flite Gamers- I loved the D2's so I figured these are worth a shot. A white Callaway at- I dropped my old white taylormade r7 one in ketchup A line 'em up w/sharpie markie
  15. The first time I went out playing about a year ago, to my playing partner's surprise, I picked up the club with a relatively good idea as to how it was to be held (it happened to be the interlocking grip). I didn't know how I knew it, but it just felt really familiar. Turns out probably 10 years (I was maybe 5-6) prior to my first round, I had gone to a golf camp that must've taught that grip. Kind of weird that I had completely forgotten that I went to the camp, but the knowledge of that grip style stayed with me ten years later.
  16. I'm reading this book, How to Break 100, and it's got this pretty cool idea on how to gauge speed. You basically just pretend you are trying to 'bowl' the golf ball to the hole with the putter. The logic is that if you were asked to roll a golf ball (or bowling ball for that matter) to a target x feet away, you'd have a fairly good idea as to the amount of force needed to do so, as well as the amount to compensate for any degree of slope (both uphill and downhill). By placing the putter in your hand and pretending to copy that bowling move, it actually gives me a decent idea as to how much pace to put on the putt. It may not work for everyone, but it is definitely helping my touch.
  17. They're more then fine. The course that I play a lot is really small maintenance staff wise and its really cheap to play, so a lot of the time the fairway is like the rough of a better maintained course. From my experience, the SUMO2 is fine out of the short-medium rough, but once you get into the real deep stuff, I'd stick to a five iron (or whatever club you use for that matter) to punch it out. Performance wise the club is perfect. I love it off the tee. I'm hitting it 230+ consistently and straight so there's a much bigger reward (being in the fairway) with a lot less of the risk associated with the driver. From the fairway its great, it makes par 5's at around 480-500 yards reachable in maybe two and if not I'm left with a real short pitch to the green.
  18. A Golf Pride New Decade Multicompound Grip (Black/Yellow) to go on my SUMO 3 Hybrid. I hated the stock grip on it.
  19. Today at a local golf store I was messing around with two new putters. One was from yes and had this huge cylinder on top of it, I have no clue what it was called or anything, but it was a really solid putter, but retailed at $280. The other was a cube no wider then three inches and was called I think the "stubby". That thing was almost impossible to use and was in the discount bin for a pretty obvious reason.
  20. Get used to chipping/pitching with at least one wedge. My 64 is my go to on shots inside 40 yards because I've spent hours with it in my backyard trying to hit golf balls into a home depot bucket- I transformed what used to be my weakest point into one of the strongest aspects of my game. Also this thread http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthr...800#post162800 is one of the best I've seen detailing practice methods to improve short game consistency and skill. Good luck.
  21. I like my saber tooth a lot. Try and hit them back to back and see which you sink more putts with, which you're more confident with at address, and which weighting you like better. A lot of people are turned off by the saber tooth's look, but if you can get over it it's a hell of a putter.
  22. I had mine a few months before
  23. Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys.
  24. I use it and I love it. I originally wanted a 2 ball, but I got the wrong one for my birthday. I ended up liking the sabertooth a lot more though. Kind of an interesting thing I saw, I track my stats on oobgolf.com and with the Saber tooth, my average putts per hole dropped .7 since the new putter was added to my bag.
  25. I'm heading down in a few weeks to Hilton Head (Sea Pines Plantation) and was wondering if anyone knows of any good courses to play? I know there's Harbour Town, but it's pretty expensive and I'm not sure if I can get a tee time. Any suggestions for courses? Thanks.
