  1. I've seen too much of Tommy Boy the last 4 years to believe in him that much. Although he has surprised me this year, last year too as a back up to Golson. The defence it beaten up too. With almost everything I'm a glass is half full guy. With our beloved Irish football, I've been a glass is half empty guy. Too many disappointing seasons. I hope last year was the start of something big for ND and not just a one off.
  2. As a long time Irish fan it pains me to write this, Stanford 27 ND 20. Our second rate Tommy Boy will cave under the pressure once again and throw up 2 critical picks. As this season goes on, I think losing to Stanford by 7 would be a minor victory. They're going to bring everything they can at ND this year after last year and the Irish goal line stand to win. I can still see the picture in my head, Te'o stuffing the Stanford RB at the line and running down field with his arms in the air! A great moment in Irish football history! The problem was he was running to find some girl in the stands...........................who didn't exist. Us Irish fans just have to laugh at that now.....................joining the rest of the sports world.
  3. The net gain or loss from the income statement is the operating cash flow on the statement of cash flows. On the balance sheet it's not an asset until the bill is paid so it goes into receivables. I think we're both saying similar things just in a different way.
  4. It goes into accounts receivable until the bill is payed. Then it goes into operating cash flow.
  5. No, it's not counted as earnings until the bill is paid. The last 3 years they've averaged $4 million in bad debt write offs and they still have $6 million set aside as a provision for bad debts.
  6. Injuries are going to kill the defence apparently. By the time Stanford rolls around to close out the season, Brian Kelly will be playing middle linebacker.
  7. I looked it up when I saw that infographic I posted. The Oxford online dictionary does that. It's a word but not a word recognizable in the English language. I notice that irregardless isn't underlined by my browser as a spelling mistake...............the same as infographic is.
  8. Sounds like the Irish before Kelly.
  9. That's because ND lives and dies with Tommy Boy and he was knocked out at the start of the 3rd quarter. Hendrix has been in the system for 4 years, taking snaps with the first team in practice for 2 of those years and I'm sure that night against USC he couldn't tell you his name. I also forgot about BYU in week 11. I had high hopes for 9-3 since I don't think ND can keep up with Stanford this year. ..............take 8-4 and get Golson back next year.
  10. That score looks good to me. :D Hopefully what this year is showing us ND fans, Brian Kelly is or has developed a system in South Bend. Four key defensive players lost to the NFL and after a couple of weeks of growing pains, this D came together. They just need to avoid the growing pains next year in the early weeks. Losing the starting QB for stupidity and relying on a second rate QB (prior to this year a 2nd rate anyway), he puts up great numbers by anyone's book. Five TD's yesterday is something I never thought Tommy Boy had in him, even playing the Irish prep squad. No depth at QB this year as shown last week. I never thought I'd say this but Tommy Rees is the key to the offence.
  11. I'm a huge Irish fan but I've learned, the last couple of years especially, to keep quiet. :) The run last year was fantastic but the title game unfolded like I knew it would. Really, I just wanted them to keep it close and not get embarrassed. Golson played great for a freshman, too bad he's a moron when it comes to exams. Suspended a semester for cheating, idiot. I still think Bama would destroy them if they played again this year. I knew Oklahoma would beat em too. Michigan made the Irish look like high schoolers, that loss hurt. I'd rather they lost to So Cal than Michigan. I just hope they can keep it respectable with Stanford, 9-3 looks great to me.
  12. Not so much a spelling or grammar issue but the spoken ones are just as annoying.
  13. Another angle on the cut versus draw thinking. In reading up on Hogan, one of the reasons he wanted to get away from drawing the ball was the snap hook. He felt the draw could very easily go wildly out of control but the fade was much easier to control and didn't fear the slice. I'm just not sure if he was only referring to himself or the swing in general.
  14. Freddy Couples hands down. So fluid and easy.
  15. I can personally attest to that. As a junior I only ever played my home course. I was usually low 80's and every few rounds would go sub 80. The one or two times a year I would go to another course with my Grandpa I was lost. I could rarely break 90.
  16. As to your point above about how much in his book was truthful etc. He did come off as too nice a guy and he played it up like he was somewhat submissive to Tiger. I guess it's all in how you frame it. I can also see how he was in a way, building an empire. He made frequent references to the Haney School running on all cylinders and not needing him day to day. It was only your post that made me think about the cost and he was making money off it while not being there (expensive).
  17. A club pro playing with someone barely able to break 90. I'm not sure if the pro's intent was to teach my Uncle a lesson from the start or not, but yes 3' was good for this guy playing someone he'd have to give a stroke per hole to if they were playing for something.
  18. Oh Haney comes right out in the book and says that. He said that being Tiger's coach would be great for his career and his business. Haney also says in the book that Tiger dismisses most of what he said, only rarely would he either work with it or ask later. Tiger doesn't trust anyone but himself, especially with his golf game.
  19. Count me in the camp who read Haney's book. He mentioned a couple of times in the book that Tiger filters out any advice he doesn't find relevant. If Tiger doesn't see it as an issue then he won't change it. I think Hank said it's close to 95% that Tiger dismisses. As for not drawing the ball, I think it was mentioned above, Haney took the left side of the course right out of play for Tiger. When he misses (missed) big, it was left if the form of a monsterous hook. Most big misses (hence the title of his book) were unplayable in the left rough/trees. Butch wanted him to hit the ball 330 yards every time and draw it, Haney took that away and wanted him 310 in the fairway and Foley is in between them, learn to control the draw but the cut is the go-to shot.
  20. My Uncle told me of the time he played with the club pro when he was younger. They played a friendly of course since my Uncle was a 20 hcp at best. On the first the pro offered to give my Uncle everything within 3' just to keep it interesting. On the 18th my Uncle lagged to about 3' and waited for the pro to tell him to pick it up. Of course, he didn't. After my Uncle missed that putt, the pro played in. When he shook the pro's hand the pro told him, "don't every let anybody give you anything on the course". My Uncle took every stroke seriously after that.
  21. This is my first tee post, no jitters. :) I have a Nike hybrid that never found the course with me. I should never have bought it in the first place but a sale at GolfTown got the better of me and I just bought it off the rack without regard to the loft or fit. I hit this thing way too high and I hit my 4 iron just as well. I used to hit a 1 iron at my old home course, same thing, it was my go to club to hit the fairway on tight 4's and some 5's. My home 10th was the primary reason, 260 yards to a hill. 3 wood flies the hill (the hole is downhill) and the bottom was always wet, always. You could get caught on the down slope also. The whole course was full of mid length par 4s where even a 3 wood could have been too much on some of the holes and a 3 iron leaves too long an approach. I tried a 2 iron that matched my set but never got the feel for it. A new one may find its way in my bag sooner rather than later. The only problem I had with the 1 iron was putting that extra bit of oomph into the shot. It really needed a nice, easy swing. That little bit extra had me push it or fade it, or both on a bad day.
