  1. Anyone have an opinion on the matter? I have already put the set of Taylormade Tour Preferred Musclebacks up for sale, so I need to make a decision quickly. Thanks
  2. I have the superquad, and I love it. It is a very nice hitting club. I have not messed with the weights though. I just leave them in the neutral position.
  3. I started playing a year ago and bought a set of Taylormade RAC OS 2 irons. I got down to around a 12 handicap, so I bought a set of TM RAC TP Musclebacks. I played them from December to April and my handicap went up to around 22, so I boxed them up and put them away. I started playing my old OS 2's and have gotten it back down to a 12 now. My problem is that with the offset of these clubs, I can NOT make them play a fade. I can draw the ball all day, but that is it. Also, I did notice that it is much harder to get spin on the ball with the OS 2 irons. I do like the look of the musclebacks at address (thin top line, etc), but I was not very consistent with them. Some days, they were great, other days I wanted to dump them into the water hazard. I am looking at the r7 TP irons, and the regular r7 irons. I do want a club that I can work the ball with, but I don't want a set with sweet spots the size of the head of a pin. I also would like to avoid giving up distance if at all possible. I hit my current PW 130 yds, and would really like to keep it that way. Which of the two sets (r7 and r7 TP) would be better for me? Thanks, cvlngineer
  4. 78 (+8) at my home course.
  5. Definitely concentrate on hitting the greens in regulation. Been there and made that mistake before.
  6. I prefer Golf Digest. It seems to be a more "together" magazine.
  7. I agree, Tiger is the best golfer to ever pick up a club. He is, to golf, what Jordan was to basketball, no doubt about it. It just irritates me when the press goes up to other golfers and say, "so, joe schmoe, you had a heck of a round today, you shot 26 under par, but...how about that Tiger Woods....." He is a bit like Jeff Gordon, the best at what he does, but over covered to the point that it becomes aggravating. Just my 2 cents worth.
  8. Congrats! Sounds like a heck of a day!
  9. The marshall at the course I play regularly is a great guy, and does an awesome job.
  10. My average drive is around 275.
  11. 349 yds on a downhill par 5 318 yds on a flat par 4
  12. Thanks for the info! That is a great idea, but I am using a stats/hcp program that I bought to keep track of everything. cvlngineer
  13. I keep several different stats that I enter into a stats/handicap program that I use, such as Fairways Hit, Greens in Regulation, Drive Length, Penalty Strokes, Putts, etc. My questions are: 1. For drive length, do most of you count all driving holes (par 4's and 5's) or just the ones that you hit driver on. I do all driving holes, whether I use a 6 iron, 3 wood, driver, or whatever. 2. How do you measure your drive length? I usually just subtract the distance I have left to the hole from the yardage for the hole on the score card. I know this is not perfectly accurate, due to placement of tee boxes, etc. Other than using a rangefinder / gps, is there a more "official" way of measuring? Thanks, cvlngineer
  14. That is fantastic! Congratulations! I wish I could do that, but I have only been playing for a year. In the last few weeks I have been shooting in the low 80's with a couple of upper 70's, but shooting even par or below seems unattainable.
  15. Yesterday, I shot 81. So my weekend went 85 80 80 81. I'm getting there!
  16. Yesterday, first round in the morning, I shot 85. Second round in the afternoon, shot 80. Today I shot 80 again, I am a little aggravated with the score because I had 38 friggin putts, 5 more than I have been averaging the last few weeks. I kept lipping out.
  17. Cottonwood is a fantastic course. I played at Stonetree in Killeen today and the greens are HORRIBLE. They are just now transitioning from winter to summer and are bare sand with patches of grass. In a few weeks it should be nice again though.
  18. I mostly play at Sammons. But I also like Stonetree in Killeen and Cottonwood Creek in Waco. I played at Greenbrier last summer and its not too bad. That was the first time I ever broke 100. I've never played at Wildflower. It looks nice, but I don't know anyone with a membership.
  19. That is great! If you want to make a BIG improvement, work on chipping and putting. That is the easiest and fastest way to shave strokes.
  20. Just keep playing, whatever tees you play from. It will look like you are making no progress, but then all of a sudden, within a couple of weeks depending on how often you play, you will make a drastic improvement. Last July, I always shot 115 to 120, but I went out 1 day and shot a 95. Since that day, I have only failed to break 100 7 times. I don't know if it is a mental barrier or what, but once you do it, it seems like it becomes easier. Just my 2 cents
  21. I have been playing for a year, and it is the most addicting game that I have ever experienced. The others have hit the nail on the head. Every time I go out, I think that this will be the day.... a few times it has been and those days are priceless. There are no words to express the feeling you have when everything is working and you can hit the ball with the shape and distance that you picture in your mind. What a game!
  22. I would lose the 4 iron, and keep the wedges. I play with 3, 52, 56 and 60 degree, and I would be lost without them.
  23. I played in a 9-hole 4 man scramble. We didn't do so well, shot 3 under, winners were 7 under. But.....On the last hole, a par 4, from 50 yards out, I drained my pitch shot for eagle and we won a $180 skin! That was about the only contribution I made to the team today though.
  24. I'm from the Temple-Belton area
  25. Yep, there are a few on my home course that range from 280 to 330.
