  1. agree it was amazing shot. now it will be penalty shoot competition.
  2. what a nailbiter brazil-chile match anyone could win the game still...
  3. That's because I made total swing change since then! Therefore, my new swing is not on video (as of yet). I WILL TRY TO GET confirmed yardages for you sceptics, with a laser rangefinder after some time during this season. It costs like 250e though, but hopefully it will be useful at the golf course too. I will say though, that I used yardages according to the range staff when I asked about the backfence distance to the clubhouse door (for the driver distance). So, I can only hope that I was really hitting it up there, at the same yardage!!! So, if the rangefinder shows shorter distances, well that's embarrassing for sure! But for this reason, I always try to get the clubhouse door hitting mat, at the range, so I can compare distances better from the same location. Yardages did seem to improve at least to my eye, with all my irons, and wedges, when I was at the golfing range. I was hitting my best golf shots ever, this week, as far as distance was concerned. My hcp is about 30 (american hcp). I don't play too often yet this season. I'm still somewhat recovering from a muscle strain. off topic but whatever, it's up to the mods anyhow
  4. To be honest, I had a bit of an epiphany regarding the golf swing. I was myself, trying out the so-called Mike Austin- swing style at the range. I was hitting very good iron shots with that swing style. Color me impressed, because it was only my second time I was trying out this new swing style ever. The gist of this swing seems to be the early release of the club at the beginning of the downswing (what Nicklaus described about his own release from the top move) What prevents it from being a legitimate casting move, is the violent weightshift to forward leg, which allows the hands to stay fast, through, to the impact zone. Hard to gauge exact carry distances , but my 9-iron distance improved for sure, at least about 10-20 yards with this new swing. I was hitting 9-iron total distance 150+ yards. My normal yardage for the golf course used to be, 9-iron 130 yards. That's what I play with at the golf course for better or worse! I also hit some mad distance with my 5-iron, total distance 200+ yard. I could hardly believe the distances I was getting. Like an instant boost 5mph to clubhead speed. Now, admittedly the rolls are good at the range because it's artificial turf, but I was legitimately excited about those results. Driver was also more consistent it seemed. I was getting 260ish carry distance quite readily with the new swing (rolls were impacting the back fence). There was also a couple legit 270 carry distance drives. (impact back fence in the air)
  5. GOOD JOB CHILE !!! chile vs brazil 1-1 situation there after first half.
  6. hard to admit failure, eh? hard to admit getting beaten in the distance with your shots? especially by an older gentleman? For the record I've seen with my own eyes on the golf course, some good quality golf shots being made with the strangest of golf swings (with driver though, not pitching wedge.) Presumably, it just has to do with creating good acceleration with the clubhead. That is, getting good clubhead speed at impact, with shorter range of motion(length of the backswing essentially). You must have good acceleration of the clubhead in that case? Whether it is an optimal swing or not, hell, who knows really... but if they're playing with it, I suppose it's fine by them?
  7. Is the game gonna start in the next 22 minutes or so? GER vs USA soccer match I gotta make a quick stop at the grocery store for some snacks and beverage ;-)
  8. - Less than average putting, maybe? Some holes it's threeputt, but if I get into good position on the green (closer to flag) then I sometimes make twoputts. - Less than average wedge shots. I never quite understood how people are able to pitch the ball reliably with a pitching wedge etc... High altitude pitch with small roll and steep descent angle. I need to learn this kind of shot with a pitching wedge ! Please keep in mind that I never really gotten any formal golf teaching except maybe 10 years ago, when I had a beginner's golf camp where they taught us kids about basics of golf. - But I did take two golf lessons so far this summer. My instructor actually taught me, to play with three swings essentially. He said that I gotta hit wedge shots (pitch and lob) with stack&tilt; swing, without any weightshifting. Stack weight mostly on forward leg he said ?!?! (about 60% forward leg and 40% rear leg) - Then I play irons with normal golf swing. And for driver swing I try to either bomb it at max power, or go slightly below at about 85% power. - Slightly less than average chipping, I feel. Getting better aiming, and better feel for the rolling speed, will be beneficial, I think. You can always improve accuracy closer to the pin, assuming you had a decent lie in the first place, I think. I always chip shot with my 8-iron, because that's what my instructor suggested for a chipping club. - Duffs and low-altitude push-slice (shank?) with irons (oh dear !!!) - Driver straight slices / excessive fades. It happens occasionally, but when I get the driver in play, I have good scoring opportunities. In theory, a straight drive should go further, than a fade, though? -I was also thinking about maybe trying a genuinely strong grip on the driver. Has anybody done this kind of thing in their own golf game, play normal shots with neutral grip, but sometimes play with strong grip driver shot off the tee?
  9. So basically guys... dont pick somebody else's first choice, at the place of your second or third choice. You can pick the same first choice and in that case, probably the closest score determines winner. If correct score AND correct person are first choice with two or more people who wins then? Do you pick random winner to break the tie? (Becuz everybody's first choices are reviewed at the same time, then everybody's second choices are reviewed at the same time etc...) second choice is unable to beat first choice if correct winner is achieved at first choice review?
  10. Yea he had a tough time with a couple balance mistakes. But he made genuinely one good onehanded save. I think goalie played average. The team should have played for time, slightly better overall. If you make short passes out of reach of enemy, that means they must keep playing with that same ball, right, as long as that ball is on field. Once it goes off field, only then they can throw the spare ball from outside the field, right? No long and high clearances but long passes/low clearances, out of reach
  11. What did you think about the last portugal goal from the perspective of goalkeeper? There were two choices in my opinion... A) defender tackle portuguese attacker red card plus penalty shot B) goalkeeper jump-punch the high pass ball of ronaldo
  12. I think he was doing it wrong also. I mean he could have slidetackled the ball away from the goal zone? he tried to reach for it with his foot and leg extended when standing... it just didn't work. It lead directly to the goal which was bad, but do you guys have any suggestions what he should have done instead correctly?
  13. well ya... nobody said it was gonna be easy playing at Fifa world cup... at some point or later, the tough matches will come in front of you...
  14. Well... The good thing about the game... - USA makes two elite class goals (Jermaine with powerful curvekick and Dempsey with his abs!) elite class goal = something that Messi or some other good player would make, and we would all think it to be masterpiece of skill. On the bad side though... - Bradley could clearly not rise to THIS level of excellence in his own position in midfield, this much is clear. Clearly Bradley was not the USA MvP of the game. - USA looked leaderless and lacking focus about what to do in the second period, especially the latter parts. - It's like, you gotta play for the time guys ... We saw Klinsmann gesturing to defend properly. It was only 5 minutes away, the win... - playing for time, is kind of a bitch- move. But you gotta ask yourself, do you want to secure the win, or do you just want to entertain the crowd or whatever? - then US is going for some kind of counterattack in Portugal's end, it just feels too risky of a move... (especially given the weather conditions and team USA leg fitness levels at the end)
  15. Well, at the end of the day it was also bad luck that bradley didn't score in that situation. Bradley looked really aimless throughout the whole game, I think there should have been better plays being built up by the US team, throughout the whole game. If bradley is the best player in US team, good luck guys... Because bradley was a non-entity throughout the game (except his one scoring opportunity close to the goal) US goalie played a good game though... He save US team's butt in the one-handed save earlier in the game. Obviously the final goal of Portugal was basically chanceless for goalie to save. Nani's early goal, US goalie made questionable decision to predict the low shoot ball, even when Nana still had the ball and was waiting for goalie's reaction essentially. It is still debateble whether goalie could have succeeded in that situation, but he should not have fallen on his backside trying to do that save. If you do things properly, with class, at least you know you have given it your all... About the ending situation. I still don't like the way that bradley lost the ball in the final minutes and he was JOGGING not RUNNING. He didn't give 100% effort, it was more like 95% effort. and that 5% chance just happened in the last minute equalizer goal.
  16. YES BENCH THAT BALD GUY (bradley). #he sucks #he cannot build plays #he cannot score from inside 6 feet vs single defender Put some good midfielder out there instead. # USA got robbed of their win. this just makes me sad, where is the booze...
  17. Mother of God... This game was for America to win... And still they could not just simply eke out the win. Certainly America deserved to win but it was not to be, it seemed. Bradley (the bald guy) should have scored earlier to make that goal when he was alone vs the defender close to the net. I mean srsly, even I could have scored that football goal... The guy had one defender against him, goalie was just out of play in that situation... One defender and his legs and head... and Bradley just shoots at the defender's knee... #balltotheknee #cannotscorefrominside6feet
  18. Tiger was to golf like Michael Schumacher was to formula 1 racing... Though by now, it's really time for Tiger to rise and shine, and grab those extra major wins that he needs (to match or exceed Nicklaus's record). IN WHAT WAY was US Open a "snoozefest"? (implying that us open was boring to watch) You only say that because a European golfer wins the American title with much better golf than any Americans played that day... hard to swallow but it was to be...
  19. actually more common result seems regular slice, straight and slicing. second most common is straight pull shots also... makes it hard to diagnoze eh?
  20. I do have this kind of swing path, sad to admit. It happened constantly last time I was put on the flightscope radar monitor. It happened with driver for certain...It was like three weeks ago though. Should I take legit trackman lesson with instructor in future? I will remember to take a photo of results with my cellphone. Is there any "home remedy" to get more in-to-out, or in-to-in swingpath? Home remedy in this case equates to a drill that I can work with at range or home with a practicing mat and practice balls. I got a practice mat at home so this is good progress! I can do golf drills outside at the backyard now. The drill should show to you with feedback, if you have out-to-in path or not. I heard that some people put obstacle like a clubcover, into a certain spot to see if they are hitting out-to-in? At my last golf lessons two weeks ago, I told the instructor that I had out-to-in path with driver. But he didn't exactly give me any pointers about what to do about it...
  21. yea that's actually my experience as well. I was at the range last week hitting some drives and iron shots. These couple talkative fellows came along cracking jokes and having a good time. We talked about our handicaps and the two guys couldn't believe how I had such high handicap (about 29-30 hcp american style) compared to my driving distance (I was really killing the driver hat day it seemed) I gave them IMHO, an honest assessment of my golf game at the moment: -threeputt more often than twoputt -slightly too many topped shots / duffed shots at fairway -less than solid wedge shots near the green. Overshooting or badly undershooting. -still occasional slices with driver, slice put you in the rough, which causes problems, and rough is penal where I play. Then that guy talked about his own golf game. He says that they both average about 35-40 on front9 holes! Then he goes on to talk about all the mulligans they take each round, and gimme putts! Then he even said that they always play OBshots like normal water hazard drops - without distance penalty together with the penalty stroke.
  22. what seems to be the problem with this? filling a profile for a golf instructor is about the same as describing symptoms by speaking... Surely you always describe your problem, and your symptoms to your own doctor? Why not describe yout swing feelings and problems to your golf instructor IN most cases, the doctor will attempt to assuade your feelings about your problem and also diagnoze and fix the problem. It's called communication between patient and doctor. Doctor's in the military use profiles all the time etc... (presumably?)
  23. AMERICA, Crush the Portuguese! I'm rooting for you Yankees!
  24. nikon coolshot vs bushnell comparable model? nikon should be rainproof? Does the laser work well in the rain btw? Maybe not torrent downpour but light rain?
