Well, as long as we can not get it out of that bunker linke Tiger just did, I guess we need to hush and take a bow

Hahaha, learning curve. Respect and media is out. It is what I see way bevond the pond here. TW has a long way to go to play decent, perhaps, but that is not my point. It is idiot the way he is being written about, life is hard as a professional atlete, critics, you have to deal with. But it is so tasteless right now.

I find the media treatment Tiger Woods currently is receiving after his performance a disgrase and totally out of proportion. I get the feeling some sort of personal war is being settled. He is not playing well, we all can see that. I read an article in golfdigest, multiple repeat of the word 'done'. Uncalled for. What happened to the US media and their respect for their storting heroes? Does Woods needs to be 65? High trees do catch a lot of wind, certainly in Scotland, but this not ok. I wonder what the reason behind it all is. Just my 2 cents. I would love to see him perform well, I enjoy DJ, I hope he finally wins.

In essence, he needs more (play)time to incorporate a few things? Lif is hard for a golf pro enduring a swing change

Well, at the end, the critics can say what they want. Until now, for me, it frees my mind standing over a put. I just have to focus on the put itself, not thinking about a break, trusting my feel. and that is great news for me.

I've been Playing Golf for: 6 years My current handicap index or average score is: hcp 15.3, but I guess on avarage I play around 15/16 My typical ball flight is: left to right with the driver, pretty straight with the iron The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: pushslice with the driver Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMjQrrnDfaQ&feature;=youtu.be It was shot spontaniously on the DR of the local golfclub just before a round. Very happy the way my game is evolving. Still room for improvement, straightening my left leg to soon. Thus (in my view) blocking a good lateral hip shift. In general during a round I try to forget and just play and enjoy. But always keeping in mind a connected straight left arm. I would like possitive feedback. I play a fade more natural. Do not need to think about it. My driver is, I guess, my main problem. Last Sunday, I played on a beautifull course. First 9, I was 5 above. My driver was striping. No hesitation to hit it, which resulted in pull fade's, all fairway. Committed to the shot. Back 9, 11 above, with more wind, I hit with less comitment. Which results in push balls with a higher ball flight, ball going eventually to the right. As soon as I trust my approach, the ball starts piercing again. I have no difficulty with launching the ball high. I noticed I have gained distance becasue I swing more agressivly through the ball. Going back to my last round, distance with the driver was (measured with gps) 250 yards (shortest) to 285-290 yards (longest, total driving distance). Back 9 distance shrunk to 230 - 250 yards, picking up distance again on hole 18, when I was fully committed. I have a 430 cc Mizuno driver, fubuki stiff shaft. Please excuse the typo's.

Played yesterday, used aimpoint to my full advantage. Did have a discussion that it took a lot of time and slowed play. Which I find nonsens. I stand behind the ball, close my eyes for one second, not even 2. Walk along, feel, just a sec and walk one. Ik do not even go behind the cup to feel if it is a downhiller. I do that whilst measuring. Pick my point and go. My argument is that by looking at the cup, walk around it, takes far more time than the aimpoint system. People are hard to convince.

Page 211: 'once you've chosen your shot your course of action nothing matters except hitting the shot solidly'. Yesterday I played a par 5, a hole with a right dogleg. To the corner, it is about 200 - 220 yards, then around 220 - 235 to the green. I know I can hit my driving iron solidly of the tee and reach the corner. You have to go far enough, otherwise a small section of trees come into play. Sadly I hit my iron not so great. A low 'stinger' in reality a bad shot which turned out not so bad because the ball kept rolling. I didn't reach the corner for a clear view of the fairway ahead. At first the trees 'snookered (snooker is a biljart game, very popular in the UK), but after taking a good look, I noticed a path through the trees. Think of a W. Two big trees with a smaller one in the middle. Thinking that with my 7 iron, I could clear the lower tree, reach the fairway, leaving me probably an 8 or even a 9 iron to the green. Only thing: I just need to clear that lower tree in the middle. Fully confident that I had taken the right option, I ripped my 7, followed by a super 8 for a fine foot birdie, which I missed by an inch, easy par. Just read that section again, and it proved so right to me.

Rory McIlroy Ruptures Tendon, Out of British Open + Longer?
taxgolf replied to acetoolguy's topic in Tour Talk
He can have his life and live the full of it. But you are a professional player or you are not. I think it's careless. I have no idea about his sponsor agreements. But he'll get a load of it and it is probably build around big tournaments. I wouldn't be that happy. It is not about not having a life. But on the other hand. If he won't wins it this year, he will probably wins it next year. -
Rory McIlroy Ruptures Tendon, Out of British Open + Longer?
taxgolf replied to acetoolguy's topic in Tour Talk
Why a professional player just before one of the biggest tournaments is so careless to injure himself, makes me speachless. -
Difficult question. When I picked up the game, I could be euforic when I hit a good shot, and get mad when I hit a bad one. I played with a nice women and she pointed it out to me. She didn't like it. So I quickly learned to controll it. I also tend to get a bit nervous, when my playing partners are chitchatting and (in my view) are losing pace with the group in front. Or the group behind us has to waite a bit to long (again in my view). You can take youre time, but we have to walk with pace. I might be a bit to harsh on that one. I never, never, give advice about how to put, to swing etc. I am not a swing guru/teacher whatever. But sometimes I think I am a mohikan who keeps his mouth shut. But I do get so much unaniem advice or see it around me, and most of it, you can Throw in the garbage can. I do give a compliment when somebody hits a good shot. But not all the time. No reason to be over polite. Same with a bad shot. Most of the time I keep still, because the player already knows he hit a bad one. No need to confirm that. A bit sloppy, but I am not a rule guy. I think I know the big picture and the more common rules, so if asked, I sometimes have no answer. The rules are meant to be fair, so I try not to give myself any slack. I modestly think I am a nice partner to play with. Like to play happy golf, and if someone wants to play from a better lie, go ahead, it doesn't bother me. Do not like the submarine in an official tournament. But who does? I had one bad experience with someone who couldn't keep up with my score, and started cheating. He was loudmouthing and got under my skin. Which irritated me even more. I have bad eyes and wear contact lenses. Unfortunately, I can not see all the balls, a white ball in the sun or clouded sky. I always warn my fellow players up front so they know. The last thing, somehow I find the ball from my fellow players better than my own, which bothers me sometimes.

Probably a certainty that he won't make the cut. Costly trip.

I recently incorporated an acceleration from the top of my backswing. Trying to hit harder. At first I needed to find my balance. To me, it seems after impact my body is turned through the swing, some kind of centrifugical force. In the begining it felt unnatural, a bit affraid to hit it harder, now that I have adepted more and more quickly. I played my best round ever last Saturday, a round of 85. I notice crisp contact, better and more disctance control, more disctance. I gained extra yardage with every club. But I am astonished by the crisp balcontact. And of course, I do sometimes have a mis hit. Goes with the hcp.

Ben Hogan Irons to Return in 2015
taxgolf replied to Hollister's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
A typical iron. My first question. What makes the old Ben Hogan iron so special? I sometimes get the feeling the only reason those irons are suprior it is because mr. Hogan's name was on it. What made them special? The building proces? The way that they were forged? The type of metal they used? Secondly. I like to see those irons in a shop. I am not sure about the quality. If it comes to forged irons, my suggestion would be to buy a Japanese forged iron. Nothing comes close. -
I entered an aimpoint expres clinic. 2 Horus in the drizzil. I was a bit sceptical, but it blew me away. The clinic was very well presented, easy to understand. I am sure it will shave some scores of the chart!

How to Hit a Driver (Hit it Further and Stop Slicing!)
taxgolf replied to mvmac's topic in Swing Thoughts
Last week I played with a pro and he wanted me to make a practise swing as hard as I could. I was afraid that I would loose mij balance, would be out of control etc. The funny thing happened when I swung the club, I really came forward as in lineair, all my weight on my left side. I pulled myself to the left. My practise swing was as hard as I could, but my real swing was just a bit slower, but still much faster than before. Yet I was in control, much to my surprise. I could really swing harder than I thought. More important, my bal contact was better, the sound was never what I heard before and I gained distance! I picked op extra yardage. Really a lot als much as 15 yards with the driver. And with the higher louter clubs, I hit spin! Ball flight improved. I apparently talked myself into beleving that a slow, safe swing would help to get control, but actually it would keep me stuck on my right Side. I remember seeing a clip from DL3 that his practise swing is as hard as he could. I was afraid to swing it harder, but I have less fear! Building up speed. Played 11 holes, easy to the backswing, even a little pause like Matsuyama and then all systems go. Walked to every green, droppen a ball at 55 yards, and try to make a 3/4 swing with a SW, but full force. It felt sensationeel. Because on those short shots, you do not want to decellerate. I hope it makes sense. I will play 9 saturday and I will try again. -
How to Hit a Driver (Hit it Further and Stop Slicing!)
taxgolf replied to mvmac's topic in Swing Thoughts
Not sure how it will translate, but the saying 'one bird in the sky doesn't make summer is here'. I have have played a couple of rounds recentely. Basically what I try to do, when hitting the driver, is the following: 1. I tee the ball a tiny bit higher 2. pick my target line; 3. aim my clubface a tiny bit right of the target line; 4. try to put the ball more forward in my stance, left toe instead of left heel; 5. pre set my hip a bit to the left; 6. breathe in and breathe out and GO The funny thing of it all, is that I do not slice my driver anymore. It might be the one or two pulls, but thats it. I noticed it after analyzing my rounds. But what does happen, is that I sometimes hook the bal massively. Ball starts left of the target line and curves away. A few shots started ever so slightly right or maybe on the target line, but started hooking. So I have traded my slice for the hook. But that seems an easier fix than a slice. Am I correct by stating that a slice is a clubface problem and a hook a path problem (or is it the other way around?). One item that might effect a hook is my driver. I have a Mizuno driver with movable weights. I have preset it now in a draw bias mode. I think I will reset it in a more neutral way. -
Always listen to good advice. Bought a compressor Other question, should I use it to get the old grips off, or use a knife. I heard that using a compressor might blow up the grips and could possibly harm you. I always used a special knife.

Uhm, no it does not. I think you should get your info straight. Ah well.

I do not know the exact page in the LSW book, but is was written somewhere. It totally opened my eyes and I am using it time after time. But there are a lot of stuburn golfers out there...

I started reading Lowest Score Wins for the 2nd time. The beauty of the book is that if you read the info over/again, it makes so much sense. Today I entered a discussion about practise in relation to lowering your score . I'll give the short version. I said focus should be on practising with the driver/iron . Other guy said, focus should be on putting. Might be a false argument, but I asked him if he had the chance of playing against a pro, what would he choose: a putting contest or a driving/iron contest? Without thinking the answer was a putting contest. And then he realised what he said, the look on his face was priceless.

Might be a stupid question. I bought de pure grips, but without the gun. I was planning to punt them the conventional way. Avoid of using double sided tape? Better not use the conventional method?

I find it very educatiional to see Wagner take the same routine every time he has to hit. Practise swing, breathe all out to relax and fire away! Take note to myself!
