I must say there is something to be said about taking what you get and grinding it out to get a decent score. It was one of the more frustrating yet absolutely enjoyable rounds I've had in a long time.

I normally tee off 5:58 Sunday mornings. Breakfast, poop, warm shower and stretching are all very important for me before my round. I LOVE early morning tee times. Nature at its best!

Callaway FT5, 45" Aldila DVS shaft 65g, D2 weight. Dont mean to highjack your thread but do you guys think D2 is light? I just got this driver and my miss with it are duck hooks. I never had this problem with my Cobra driver. Obviously, I know its more my swing but do you think the D2 weight adds to this miss?

Mountain Branch. Its definitely a tougher course than I'm use to LOL I normally play Mt. Pleasant and Ruggles. I actually tried leaving it in the bag but my 2 AND 3 hybrids were doing the same thing. So my thinking the whole day was I might as well be 50 yards further with my duck hook LOL! I just struggled with anything longer than my 6 iron today. I think I could have scored better taking 7 iron off the tee all day long...if I cant figure my driver out I might do that next week.

Last night I was so excited to play this morning I couldnt sleep a wink. We had a 9 am tee time at one of the tougher courses in our area. Tight tree lines and tall fescue, trouble EVERYWHERE! Ended up getting 7 pars on the round...and ended up shooting a 98 I parred every par 3 on the course but what got me in trouble was my big stick. It was duck hooks all day long with it. So disappointing to throw away what could have been a good round. Anyone have a round like this?

Walter Hagen T3 Club Set review!
Flipmode replied to JSwiney10's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I must admit when I first started golfing I thought I was hitting the ball over 300 but my rangefinder quickly put me in my place LOL. In fact I was about 40-50 yards off of 300! I hope my post doesnt discourage you from posting in these forums. There is a lot to learn from here and I hope you take advantage of the knowledge of the golfers here. I think the reason people are doubting the 350 is because 1. You were at a driving range that probably uses "dead" balls 2. You were using an old crappy house driver that Bubba Watson would have trouble hitting 300 with 3. A pro struggles hitting 350 so for an amateur to do it would be pretty tough. I certainly dont think your "lying" but perhaps a little misinformed. I will say this though...if you are hitting it 350 I'd love to play in a best ball tourney with you! -
Walter Hagen T3 Club Set review!

Im not saying you dont hit the ball far but for an amatuer to hit it 350 is a little hard to achieve. I think the markings might be a little off. Im pretty sure a good amount of LONG drive competitors would love to hit it 350 consistently. I hope you dont take this the wrong way but if your hitting it 350 you need to enter either some long drive contests or work on your short game and get on the PGA tour lol. -
Bought some Ping Eye 2 Copper Irons
Flipmode replied to redsox98's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My cousin who doesnt play golf has a basically new set of Eye2 Becu's. I've been trying to get him to sell it to me since I hooked him up with my old set of Callaway x16's for $150. For some reason he has 2 sets of club and doesnt play golf but he still wont sell them. I'm gonna keep chipping away to see if he'll sell them to me. -
Does anyone have a list of the ones that are closing? I really hope its not the one in Towson.

I bought an FT5 with Aldila DVS shaft for $47 from a guy on another site. GREAT driver. 3 people out of my regular foursome use the FT5. Great distance, forgiving and medium trajectory. It actually kicked the TM burner and Cobra LD out of my bag. I'll be using this driver for a long long time.

Thoughts Callaway FT-5 draw 10.5
Flipmode replied to Hoytman1018's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I had the 07 Burner and the Cobra LD, I can honestly say the FT5 draw is my favorite out of the 3. Maybe not as forgiving but definitely longer. I have the Aldila DVS shaft on it which was exactly what I was looking for. For $60 you cant lose and you can always resell it if you dont like it. Im sticking with this driver for at least the next couple years. I really dont think you'll be disappointed and if you dont like it I'd be willing to trade you my Cobra LD so I can have a backup. What kind of shaft did you end up getting with it? -
I bag the 3,4, and 5 Taylormade burner hybrids. If I had more time than once a week to practice or play I would consider putting the 5i back in but I just dont have the time to practice. It's crazy how you can just step up to the ball with a hybrid and know that if you put at least a half decent swing on it it will turn out to be a good shot. Im starting to come to the realization that I only have time to be a weekend warrior and that mid 80's low 90's might be as good as I get so why make the game harder than it has to be. My advice would be to use the 5h and when you have the extra time to practice...practice the short game

My neighbor keeps trying to get me to play there but I drove by there one day after work because traffice was so bad I took a detour. I told myself I would NEVER play that course LOL! I normally play Mt. Pleasant but have heard a couple stories about people getting robbed on the 14th and 15th hole. I play at 6 sunday mornings so (knock on wood) the idiots are still sleeping. But yes Clifton park is scary haha

I was a grounds keeper when I was in high school (16) at Baltimore Country Club that paid $12 an hour. Not a bad gig for a summer job while in high school but Im glad I didnt make a career out of it. Of course I was an idiot and didnt golf back then so I didnt get to take advantage of the free golf...if I only knew back then what I know now. LOL You better believe when I retire in 25 years that I'll be the first one to sign up for that job again. To sum it up, its a great job...if you dont need $$$

Callaway Driver Cracked. Am I screwed?
Flipmode replied to l2djae's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I dont think your screwed at all. I broke the shaft on my Callaway x16 7 iron last year and callaway replaced it for free. Just give them a call and they will work with you. Great customer service and they really stand behind their product. -
Little off topic here but Big Perm do you shoot pool as well? Your username and avatar are exactly like someone on azbilliards.

DOH!!! hahahah LOL!!! Thanks for clearing that up Iacas. I hope I didn't look too funny with it around my waist. I might actually keep it around my waist though since I really didnt mind it being there while I was swinging. I seriously can't stop laughing right now.
-
I have a Bushnell rangefinder 1500 with a case that straps around your waist. Just want to get your opinions on what you think when you see people with it on. It kind of looks like a fanny pack on your back. LOL! It is pretty convenient though.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority in this but I was more impressed and saw more potential in DeLaHoya's game than Jerry Rice's. Especially when he stuck that pitch and rolled it back on the 18th hole under pressure. That being said, I'd take Jerry's game any day. LOL!
-
I never did it with my Taylormades, Callaways or Nikes but because of what people were saying about AP1's I use them now. It really doesnt bother me that I have to take them off and put them back on after every shot.
-
I really love playing Rocky Point on the weekdays but on the weekends its a 6 hour round of golf. Mt. Pleasant is on of my favorites but I'm a little partial to the place since its the first place I broke 90 a couple years ago. Just look for the guy with the singing Duke headcover and thats me. I see we play pretty much the same equipment. I play all Taylormade Burner woods and hybrids, everything else is Titleist.

I gotta say I love it watching head to head golf with a lot of $ on the line for charity. For me its actually quite refreshing to see non-professionals play each other head to head. Definitely gives the audience something they can relate to.
-
I normally play Mt. Pleasant, Furnace Bay, or Rocky Point but when money is a little tight I go to the military bases and I live in White Marsh. Since you work for the government Im sure you can get on the bases as well. There are some GREAT deals on the military bases!

Yeah this course is really starting to get overcrowded with people who have no clue about etiquette. Last year on this same course we were following a group who wouldnt replace the pin. Every hole we would have to walk up to the hole, replace the pin and then walk back to our ball to hit it. Finally after 5 holes we called the clubhouse. The kid behind the counter told us just to aim at the middle of the green since we probably wouldnt be holing any shots out anyway. So why do we keep coming back...simple, $13 to walk EVERYDAY and all you can play!!! LOL. Also, for the price it really is a good course. Champ, I tried looking up Walden GC but I guess their website is down. Unfortunately, even if I was able to join, Crofton is too far.
