Grip More in the fingers, left hand knuckles closer to parallell with shaft. Feels like a big change. Setup Shifting weight more forward to the balls of the feet and more bent over. Trying to get the hips closer to the ball so the middle of the hips is more over the ankles. Haven’t quite found the balance yet in the swing, but there are probably moving parts reponsible for that as well. Still a very mixed bag of shots, but generally an improvement. More shots around straight, a few that might have been small push-draws. Still some bananas going right. Clubface is varying a lot at impact, perhaps partly because of the grip change, but the flip isn’t helping either. Here’s an image to show the difference in torso angle at setup (yellow), shaft angle at setup (red) and shaft angle on the way down (green).

Day 4 - Hot and windy. Hit some balls on the range to see what my trajectory was like, then a quick six holes. Some practice on the net later.

I trust the body to regulate the need itself. On hot days I don’t drink a whole lot during the day if I’m out, partly so I don’t have to go to the toilet all the time, but then I drink more when I get home. Milk and juice for breakfast, water for all other meals. A few glasses of wine in the weekends.

Day 2 - More grip and setup. Tried a few swing thoughts since the grip and setup stuff is complete once I start the backswing.

I like a course that plays tough for a major, but this is what matters. Back and forth, multiple players in contention and drama on Sunday.

Was that a low spinner from Viktor on 4 at Valhalla? From the first cut, I worries it would fly past the flag, then it stops dead.

Day 1 - First chipping and pitching. Focus on a better grip, the fundamentals and taking the club back on plane, not outside. Feels good. Then some full swings. Focus on improving the setup. Weight more forward, more bent over, and same grip stuff.

Does Anyone Own a Melin Cap?
Zeph replied to snapfade's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
How are they waterproof, breathable and handle sweat like a champ all at once? -
That’s a pre Sunday leaderboard I can like.

Why are they showing almost every shot by Theegala? Burmester also gets a lot of TV time. Then suddenly someone at +2 or -1 missing a putt. At least throw in a shot now and then from the others in the top 20.

Looks like a two-day tournament by Tiger. Scheffler shooting 66 after a trip to jail. He spent the time there to warm up. It’s wild how Xander hasn’t won since the Genesis in 2022.
-
Damn. Will he have to DQ? I wonder if that would have happened if it was Tiger. Edit: He’s apparently released from custody.
-
I’m glad he went to LIV. Nothing about him or his return makes me want to see him play golf.
-
His name is Scott. Doesn’t he want the “ie” anymore? His father is named Scott and his caddie is Tee Scott. Using Scottie seems useful.
-
Why not hole the approach on the first hole? Scottie means business.
-
Are there any alternatives to the kind of grips from PURE? I still got them on mine and it’s too bad they are out of business, I really love the grips. Perhaps I should buy some before they are out of stock.

The good part first. Short game has improved a lot. Not that it took much to improve, and there’s still work to do, but I feel more confident. It’s fun to practice. “Soft hands” has become an important element when working on chipping and pitching. When I set up for a chip with ball in the middle, leaning forward, loading the club a little in the transition, the hands doing too much is almost the only thing that can go wrong. For the pitch I want the hands even less involved, but it feels like a softer grip and being less handsy helps on chipping as well. Now, full swing. I now remember what it was like playing with a slice. “Slice” to me is like “Voldemort” to the wizards. It’s absolutely abysmal. I can take a fat or thin shot, but a slice is the worst. Getting my path sorted out is sorely needed. I have signed up for Evolvr again and trust they will help me get there. I see a lot of issues I’ve worked on before. I’ll take it a step at the time in whatever order they recommend. Backswing is too long, rotating the shoulders too much, not getting enough weight forward, not extending through the downswing, pulling, slicing. I’m very happy to be able to use Golf Evolution for this work.

What makes it worse is how vocal Rahm was about LIV not being for him in the beginning. He talked about legacy, how special the PGAT is, how money doesn’t interest him and three round shotgun start is not a tournament, bla bla bla. Now that he’s gone to the dark side, just tell the truth, you did it for the money. He wasn’t honest then and doesn’t come across as honest today. Just shut up, play with your buddies in the Legion XIII team and collect your paycheck. 👎

Shoes: Ecco Biom H4, waterproof. Haven’t played in them yet, but feels very good. Replaced my old (10-15 years?) TRUEs that were leaking. Pants: Under Armour Drive 5 Pocket Pant. Love the stretch in waist/legs and the low weight. Bought 34 length, should’ve had 32.

Best of the year so far. Shot at 77 (par 69, short course), which is exactly my handicap. Long game is inconsistent, but it was a good day. Short game and putting helped get there. The universe even helped line up the putt for my first birdie of the year.

Wins the week before and files for divorce the same week. I’m not putting money on Rory.
