  1. What are you people talking about? Let me translate "if you think i am too young to know if a course is good or not good, then that means Butch is too old to coach". Which means....butch is obviously NOT too old to coach, it was a compliment for crying our loud....
  2. iacas, Agreed, he is already #3 in PGA tour wins, #2 in majors. He also has 38 Euro tour wins, 2 on the Japan tour, 1 on the Asian tour, and 16 WGC events. AT WORST, he will be #2 in PGA tour wins, and remain #2 in majors, and still have more "other" wins than most PGA guys will have top 10's. Why does everyone need to take a thread and derail it into a pissing contest over who knows more about what. It's OPINION. Do you think Tiger is going in the wrong direction? Do you think he should have stayed with a previous coach? Do you think he will be better with this coach? It's not a Bubba bashing thread, or a Tiger bashing thread, get over yourselves.
  3. Can anyone recommend one that they actually have in their garage, and maybe post a picture or two? Looking at a page full of tiny picture where nobody has actually written a review isn't going to help anyone out.
  4. Now that would be fun to see
  5. Really sad news, we lost a great one. This is an excellently done Seve mix you will all enjoy. RIP Seve For some other great mixes, and also bare TV footage of some Seve rounds, check out this link. http://www.youtube.com/user/HynoDesigns (Not my channel, but this guy does a great job)
  6. That's the point of this thread/forum in some respects. It's a place for me to armchair quarterback people who are 1 million times better at me than something That said, I agree it would be better to use option 2 in your book. But, as a selfish golf watcher who loved to see unbelievable golf and moments, I am hoping we get option C, 2 majors a year for the next 5 or so...
  7. I think you mis-understood my intention. Yes, he made that charge with his new swing, but he has made 100's of those charges with his old swing, and his even older swing. I think that's Bubba's point. Stop changing swigs, all it causes is a long gap in winning. He can win with any swing given his talent and ability.
  8. I have no doubts he will win some more majors. Again I reference the back 9 at the Masters this year. When he get's hot, he plays like nobody else in the world can. You never see other guys pull of that 30 yard fade uphill around/under a tree to 10 feet in competition. That's what I think Bibba is saying, when he plays shots like that, he HAS to revert back to feel, nobody practices the mechanics for a shot like that. That's something you aquire by trial and error, no? Or how about that 40 yard running hook onto the par at the masters, no mechanical repeatability can teach that shot, you either have that or your don't talent wise. He needs to lpay more like Bubba, it's the easy shots where the normal mechanical swing comes that get him in trouble if you ask me.
  9. http://www.thegolfchannel.com/tour-insider/notes-bubba-woods-wrong-42788/?hj=xfs Basically, Bubba says Tiger is mental, and he just needs to go out and play some golf. I agree, I have been saying for years, 'where is the Tiger who used to grip and rip and try to just flat out dominate'. I think he is too caught up in the perfect swing, longenvity, etc., needs to find a common ground. Best nine he played this year was the back 9 on Friday at the Masters, he played that 9 like he would have 6 years ago. SEE: second shot on 18.
  10. What did I miss?? What did Foley hold back? Does Ohair claim to NOT be SNT?
  11. Sounds to me like you need to SLOW DOWN that swing. You may not be realizing it, but you must be swinging hard to "bang a 4H 210", and earlier you said you were trying to hit your 6I 175. That seems far to me with a beginner. You said at the range you couldn't get a 5I past 120. I bet if you choked up 2 inches, and swing at 50% it would go well past 120. Start with that and work on tempo. You are probably really attacking it on the way down, missing the sweet spot as you know since you are shanking or topping them.
  12. Hey Erik, What's controlling the speed of the swing in this shot, i.e. the distance you are hitting it? Obviously opening/closing the clubface will affect trajectory and distance given the same swing. But, I am trying to hit it by essentially letting gravity drop the clubhead as was described, so of course this isn't going to get you anywhere near 70 yards? Are you varying backwing distance much across a span of 10-70 yards, or mostly increasing the distance by using the hands to help the club accellerate a little faster than gravity would do on it's own?
  13. No offense, but this thread is making me laugh. I would be willing to bet that with a feedback rating of over 250K on eBay, that they are legit. You are going deeper and deeper into the conspiracy theory and almost trying to convince yourself they are fake. Take them to golf galaxy, line them up next to a set and compare, I have yet to see a fake that I could not tell when compared with the real thing. Good luck and I hope they are real for your sake. Sincerely, Chris W. (or just someone who knows a Chris W. works at Callaway)
  14. Yikes, currently playing to a 12.2, ANCP is 20.4. My bad rounds are just that, BAD!
  15. Really liking this thread also! How is the anticap calculated? Are you simply calculating the HDCP using 10 thrown out rounds instead of the ten best?
  16. Thread Follow Up: So after working all winter through faux swings indoors and mental swings, I was able to get rid of my fade this year and turn it into a draw type swing. After a couple rounds it started to turn for the worse, into a pull draw. Of course I tried to correct this by swing MORE in to out, and the problem did not get better. After reading this thread and digesting last week, I instead made a minor tweak and opened my clubface a few degrees at address, and DID NOT try to swing more in to out. After these adjustments, I went out hit some great shots this weekend. I think understanding this thread can help everyone in self-diagnosing their problems. Target Line (feet) + Divot direction (swing path) + ball starting path (clubface) can pretty much tell you everything. If you have "too much" curve, then you need to swing less across the TL, and more down it, pull/push, usually a clubface issue, etc.
  17. Just getting into this thread. Can you explain the "releasing the club" statement a little? I think you are saying hitting a push draw is easy to control as you don't really release the club at all, you basically keep the face in the same angle, just swingt in to out by varying degrees to control the draw that way?
  18. Not necessarily. Read the recent thread on ball flight rules, and using your divot direction, check to see how out to in you are and adjust the face angle/swing oath accordingly.
  19. Is the ball starting right of the target line and hooking? Or is it a pull hook?
  20. One more question, and perhaps this is a new thread. But if I aim my target line where I want it to start, and grip the club with clubface pointing well left where I want it to end, it DOES work for me. So if those laws are incorrect, why does it work?! Mind taking over and adjusting for what it sees?
  21. Please see the post above where I included a chart. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/thread/45342/confusing-ball-flight-information-followup/72#post_595709 . It's not about odds - it's a ratio. I'm really starting to enjoy this thread. So with that chart, if I am correct in reading it, the face angle being 1* off of swing path on a PW will cause a shot that is 5 times as far off target as that same 1* difference shot with a driver, is that the correct way to read it? EDIT: What I wrote above is not correct, and what Zeph posted with Sergio rally cleared it up. So essentially to have a target line that point straight at the flag, you need to REALLY swing in to out, with minimal club face closure to get a PW back to the flag. And with a low lofted club, this is not the case, these ratios make more sense now. Thanks all.
  22. It may be anywhere from just short of being "across" to actually crossing and ending up left (assuming you're a righty) of the target, depending on the club used. I gave some numbers above. "Back to the target line but not across it" is about 1:1.5 with the driver, but much more with a PW... First off thanks for replying to most of my questions. This statement above left me a little confused, not sure what the ratios you are describing mean? Are you saying in the situation I described, you would have 1:1.5 odds of the ball making it back to the line with a driver, but much LESS chance with a PW? Guess what I am asking is, all angles the same, TL, Clubhead, and swing path, which will go across the line more, less loft or more loft, and why?
  23. Good! Part II - I suppose math comes into play here. I am facing a target in ideal conditions, no wind, lie angle etc. So my target line we will call 90 degrees. So I line up parallel to this line, and I hit a shot with a swing path at 100 degrees (10* in to out of the target line), and my club face is closed a bit, say 5* from the path line (making the club face at 95*). Will this type of swing/club face combo bring the ball back across the target line by the time it lands? I am not looking for this exactly scenario only, I am trying to figure out how to align my self if I want to hit a baby "fall left" draw. If this particular scenario did bring it back across the line, I would have 2 options, I could repeat this exact swing, only turn my TL 5* right to start, OR, I could simply only have the club closed 2* more than the swing path line, instead of 5. I would think in this case option 2 would be the better choice, but for most people probably harder to actually do.
  24. Ok so after reading most of the thread, I just want to know, using this as the basis, what should a person actally be trying to do?I would assume if you want to play a draw, the best possible draw to play would be to swing in to out at a certain angle from the target line, but close the clubface to roughly half of that angle back to the target line, and just the opposite for a fade. Reason I ask is, there must be some point at which the swing path angle - target angle becomes so large, that you must compensate too much using the face, and so you are effectively using a large % of the clubhead speed (power) and wasting it, so you end up hitting it not as far as you could if you could simply direct 100% of your power down the target line and have a square face.
  25. Is this high speed video on youtube someplace? I am not debating the topic, just interested to see the video.
