I like your chances too, I am a 13 and played a 2 man scramble by myself and I shot like 5 over. So with 4 shots I think I would have easily been another 4 strokes better? So with your skill you should be able to go low.

Mizuno MP-68s From Ebay: Authentic or Knock-offs?
SpacklersEdge replied to bplewis24's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I tried to say this earlier in the thread which apparently a lot of people aren't seeing, SHIPPING COUNTERFEIT CLUBS IS ILLEGAL. So why would lewis send them back? I had this same ordeal go down and PayPal specifically told me not to send them back. The reason he got the refund in this case is because it is actually PayPal that gives the refund, not the seller. Of course the seller would wantthem back in order to get the refund... I LOVE the idea about trying to bend one of them 3*, that would be great. I just bought some clubs from someone on eBay, when they shipped they got send out from Huntsville, PM if you want the seller details. -
Calling all instructors and swing doctors.... Don't get me wrong, I can hit the ball fine, I can score well, I don't hit fat all the time, and I don't thin it over the green. Since I started playing, I have an an over the top move. Obviously I have worked on many parts of my swing, I am now much more balanced and my OTP move is almost gone. My divots aren't pointing way left anymore etc. HOWEVER, I still have a problem with it. The reall issue is that it only really shows itself on long clubs, particularly the Driver and 3w. I just came from the range, and I hit 10 balls with a 5w, at leat half went dead straight and were about 225 carry (using rangefinder), the others had a small leak to the right, and lost 10-15 yards. Then I hit 3w, I hit 8 of them to the right, fading, andf none were farther than 225. The other two I hit dead straight, but they started about 10-15 degrees left, a dead pull. Then 10 with driver, same as the 3w but farther right on the fades. What I can't get a "feel" for is what is the first move from the top? For me it seem I start with my hands, which in turn causes my shoulders to start first, from there, there is nothing you can do to keep from coming OTP. I just don't know what the first move should feel like!! Another thing that may help diagnose, when I hit these long clubs, many times I find my self off balance, with my weight falling toward the tee after I swing through, ending up on my left toe falling forward a little. I have no problems like this with 8i etc. Is my swing with these longer clubs too low, not steep enough? What do you guys think NOTE: I don't think I have ever hit a legit draw with a driver in my life. Meaning I have hit balls that draw, but they always start left. I can't for the life of me swing OUT and start it right of target and bring it back.

Possible to "move' grips to another set?
SpacklersEdge replied to SpacklersEdge's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't agree with time to replace after 6 months. Also the grips are new decade muti's, I DID put them on myself also. They aren't exactly cheap grips, which is why they last way past 6 months. I used air to remove my old ones when I put these on, but some of them were really on good and ended up getting bubbles blown in them, so I was looking for a way to avoid that. -
Ah I see. Where can I see the scores? Two day total?

Why would tou hit a driver of the tee box ....
SpacklersEdge replied to Gerald's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I purposely put myself in the penalty box the last 3 rounds. I have not been striking the ball well lately, so I played without my D or 3W the lat 3 rounds. I actually shot my two lowest rounds of the year the last two. Not only did I stay in the fairway more (playing everything from 5w to 5 iron, last round I hit 12 of 14 fairways), but i found it made me really concentrate on hitting it solid and pure since I knew I needed to get every last yard with a shorter club. Not by swinging harder, but by hitting better. -
Iacas said it ended Saturday night, so what was his total?

I'm sure most people have heard the story or read the article about it, but if I recall correctly Bubba himself has said he has A.D.D., although he has never been diagnosed since he doesn't go to the doctor. Long story short he has trouble in tourneys because he gets so impatient and bored. In this article it said he played a practice round once with Tiger and played every shot of the entire day with a 4-wood just because it kept his attention, and I think he shot like 78? He has some really great shot-making skills. EDIT: He played with his wife and shot 77 with a 4-wood, putts included from 7,000+ yards. http://www.golfdigest.com/magazine/2009-08/bubbawatson

Trackman Data: PGA Tour vs. LPGA (With 2017 Data!
SpacklersEdge replied to iacas's topic in Tour Talk
Awesome thread here, really interesting to see the launch angle of a wedge is only 24 degrees. They must really be hitting those things back in their stance? That's like a low bullet with a ton of spin, so it comes out low and quickly the angle of ascent climbs, and by the time it lands it is coming down steep.- 108 replies

Shafts - Project X vs. Project X Flighted
SpacklersEdge replied to BC24's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
One last question from me. For someone coming from standard Stiff shafts that are on most common clubs you buy at the store off the shelf, to a set of clubs with Project X shafts, what could I expect to see in the way of results? Lower ball flight? More accuracy? Generally anything you have experienced. -
Difference in Mizuno Irons?
SpacklersEdge replied to SpacklersEdge's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I saw a lot of recommendations for the 57's. I am now down to the 57's and 52's. Anyone played both and could give some opinions on what they liked/disliked about each, or what their general thoughts are? -
Shafts - Project X vs. Project X Flighted
SpacklersEdge replied to BC24's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
So project X is just Project X Project X Flighted has various kick points to help elevate the longer clubs. What are Project X Rifles?? -
Shafts - Project X vs. Project X Flighted
SpacklersEdge replied to BC24's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
So the Non-flighted version does what, hits a lower ball flight on all clubs? Does this then produce more spin to help stop the shot since it is not as high? -
Distances on shorter clubs.
SpacklersEdge replied to SpacklersEdge's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Thanks for all the replies guys. The reason I am not satisfied with playing those distances is because I can tell that I am not making solid contact. It could be I am making contact too far up the face, which is deadening the ball? It doesn't have that same "jump" off the face like it does with a 7 or 8 iron. So essentially after reading all the replies and thinking about it more, I am saying "yes, I am not making good contact with these shorter clubs", so now I just want to figure out why. I think ball position is one factor, and as someone replied I think I might be hitting down on them too much, resulting in a strike high on the face. Would it be beneficial to hit gap wedges off a higher tee than you normally should in order to force myself to flatten out the swing plane on those clubs and see what happens? -
Distances on shorter clubs.
SpacklersEdge replied to SpacklersEdge's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Why? I need to understand why that is to grasp it. If anything, too far forward and it will come off too high and end up short in my opinion, farther back would promote a lower launch angle and thus a farther shot right? Regardless I am playing PW-LW with the ball in the center of my feet. -
Wow awesome lesson, I would love to get something like that with a take home video to watch over and over.

I would like to other peoples answers on full swing and pitch alignment. To add to the conversation, I stand behind the ball, and pick a target about 1 foot in front of the ball on the line I want, then I approach the ball from the side, placing the club down behind the ball with my right hand and my right foot forward. I assure the grooves are perpendicular to my 1 foot target, then I move my feet into position so that the grooves and shaft are parallel to the line created between my toes, assuring my feet are exactly parallel to the 1 foot target line. Is this correct in peoples opinions? PUTTING: First off, I think you are correct in assuming 36 putts is too much for a 10 or lower HDCP. To give some numbers, in my last 20 rounds, I am averaging 32.4 putts per round, and I am playing to a 13.1 right now. I have had rounds in these 20 with as low as 27 or 28 putts. So, I actually think my putting is good so I feel okay giving some pointers here. First off, even if your alignment is somewhat off, getting the correct speed should allow you to 2 putt almost every hole. Even if you are a tad off one way or another, if the speed is correct you should finish withing a 3 or 4 foot circle. With putting I do the EXACT same thing as my full swing. I pick a point 1 foot in front, line up the club face, place my feet and I actually visualize the putt moving over my point, being careful not to look up too soon. I actually hold my head down to see where the ball goes in relation to my aiming spot, if it rolls right over it and I miss, I either mis-read or got the speed wrong. Hope that helps. One last note, I am a firm believer that putting setup is unique to you. For example, I put ball WAY forward, otherwise I sometimes pull. I also like to have my weight forward as well. Do whatever you have to to hit it over your aiming point is my advice, and repetition is key.

I have been re-tooling my swing lately, and I am VERY happy with how I have been hitting the ball. I am hitting the ball more crisply than I ever have. I have really worked on a 1-2 tempo thought and I am trying to swing "hard", simply maintain the same tempo on every swing. I just played tonight, as an example I hit driver on only two holes, both were 260 or a tad more by the end. Nothing special. I play with TM RAC irons, my distances are (in the air) 185 with the 4 iron, 10 yard increments on down, ending with 125 on the wedge. It seems my wedge is not travelling 125 all the time though. Furthermore, my wedges (cleveland CG-12) are going as follows. 52* - 100, 56* - maybe 90, and 60* maybe 75? It would seem I should be able to hit the shorter clubs farther. I aim for 155 on the 7i, and 165 bon the 6i, but I have routinely hit hots over the past week or so than are normal swings and fly and extra 5-10 yards over that, but that NEVER happens with the 9i and down. I should be hitting the PW maybe 130+, and on down to the 60 degree 90 or so based on the loft differences? Any thoughts? NOTE: I have noticed I catch the shorter clubs more toward the toe on occasion, but even when I don't the issue exists if this helps?!

Mizuno MP-58 with Project X 5.5 shafts. Clubs are overall 9.9/10, only 6 iron has ever been hit. What would you guys think is a good price for these? I think I could get them for $550.

Mizuno MP-68s From Ebay: Authentic or Knock-offs?
SpacklersEdge replied to bplewis24's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
FALSE!! I actually got a driver off of eBaythat turned out to be a fake. I submitted a PayPal dispute, and immediately PayPal contacted me and told me not to ship the item back since it was illegal to ship counterfeit goods, and I could get in trouble. I ended up getting 100% of my money + shipping cost refunded back from PayPal, and keeping the club. Then I basically emailed the guy and said tough shit, don't sell fake stuff. I still have the club today. -
I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and guess that one reason the inconsistent grass affects you so much is because it tends to catch your club, causing you to chunk it. You have to remember to accelerate into the ball when chipping. just because you are trying not to hit it hard, doesn't mean you don't accelerate. Practice on the grass, learn to take a shorter backswing and then "pop" the ball.
