  1. 1. Walk up to ball, set bag down. Realize bag is too close to the ball/swing path, and move the bag. 2. Grab a club. Look up at yardage markers, realize that I grabbed 1 club too much or too little. Go grab correct (?) club. 3. Stand behind the ball. Look like I'm picking a target, but really just repeating "don'tbladeitdon'tbladeitdon'tbladeit" (irons) or "don'ttopitdon'ttopitdon'ttopitdon'ttopit" (woods) to myself. 4. Oops, I've been standing here a while. Better take a half-assed practice swing. 5. Line up to ball, face square to the general direction of the pin, feet together. Enter stance. 6. Step back, take a practice swing. 7. Oops, that was way fat. Gotta go clean off the club. 8. Back at the ball. One more practice swing. Ooh, that was good! Wasted it! 9. Get up to ball. 10. Pick up bag, walk 25 yards to location of topped 3-wood, and start over. Oh, wait. That was every member of the foursome I was stuck behind tonight.
  2. I bought my driver used from Hireko's closeout page. The only thing I needed to do was put a new grip on it - but they did list the club as "fair" condition so thats not even a gripe. I love the club and would do business with them again. I'm actually thinking of buying a set of irons from them this fall for next season.
  3. A few weeks ago, I stopped in at dick's on a whim and hit all the hybrids they had in stock in the 18/19* range. I wasn't suprised that the one I liked the best was the Adams, but I was surprised to see how much I liked the Acuity hybrid-this being my first go with a hybrid (and not sure how much I needed the club in my bag), I decided that a $25 experiment made a lot more sense than a $60 experiment. I've played around 72 holes with it since, and I couldn't be happier. It tends to balloon a little bit if I have a fluffy lie and catch it high on the face, and sometimes the Uni-Flex feels a bit soft, but its straight, and the 18* is a perfect fit between my 3 iron and 3 wood.
  4. Worst golf balls, ever. Worse than cold range balls on a 30 degree morning. I bought a dozen a few years ago at a Big 5 when I was living in az. I'm afraid of snakes, so anything off the grass got left and I went through balls fast. I ended up giving them to the kids on my hockey team to practice their stickhandling with, and they worked better for that than golf.
  5. Gamer. Best value in golf, even if they never go on sale like the other rock-flites.
  6. I'm starting to see this show up in my game as I improve-last few years, my bad shots would put me in jail, a hazard, or OB. Now I've gotten to the point where my bad shots are jerking it 10 yards left of where I wanted to be, missing the green from 150 out. A thin or fat iron still goes the right direction, just losing distance. My bad drives are putting me in the rough instead of the woods, and my bad putts are leaving me with 2 footers coming back instead of 5 footers. And its helped me cut my handicap in half from August of last year until now.
  7. Driver- ~265 3 W ~ 230 3i -205 4 - 195 5 - 185 6 - 170 7 - 160 8 - 150 9 - 135 PW - 120 52* 110 54 * 100 58 * 85 All of which are at least a club shorter after moving from AZ to MN
  8. Point taken. I guess I didn't even pay attention to the whole "demand" category anyway.
  9. Also, the ProV was the only one to get gold in that price point. They awarded gold in two other price points. They also point out that the Top Flight Gamer has the most performance for price of any ball.
  10. After playing bags of recycled balls all last year, I've switched to Top Flight Gamers at the end of last season/beginning of this season. For $20 a dozen, it feels enough like a Nike One Black or ProV for me. Its long enough off the tee, and its soft enough that it'll stop within a few feet if I hit a clean 8 iron.
  11. Luckily, I'm a teacher, so my summer schedule allows me to play most days of the week. I don't go out every day, but usually get 3 to 4 rounds of 18 in most weeks from May-August. Thanks to cheap memberships and lots of free time, I play a lot of golf. My handicap is no where near where it should be, but considering that I started last year at a +30 after taking 10 years off from golf, its coming down fast. My goal its to get near 10 this year, which should be doable with some time on the practice green.
  12. I bought three of these off Amazon for 3.99-4.99 a piece. Since its still in the 30s here, I haven't used them yet, but they seem to be pretty solid. No fancy swoosh or logos, but they'll do the job for walking 18 when its 85 and humid.
  13. 99 today. In 35-40 degree temps with 15-20 mph winds. First swing of the season was a nice low draw that went 260. Local range isn't open yet, so I was pretty happy to see that after 5 months off. Hit 8/14 fairways, with only one missing by more than 10 yards. Lots of 6s and 7s thanks to a lot of 3 putts on greens of questionable quality. One nice deuce on a 25 foot chip in, and a few solid pars thanks to putting myself close from 100 out. Didn't score well at all, but with the courses just opening this week, and 5 inches of snow coming the next few days, I'll take it to hold me over for a few more weeks until the courses open for good.
  14. I picked up a used 14* Sonartec SS 03 and I love it. I'd recommend Sonartec to anyone.
  15. I bought an Ogio vaporlite last year to replace a 10 year old Hoofer, and I love it. Its light, the legs work, and the water bottle holder is the most useful thing I've ever bought for golf.
  16. Thanks for the input. I kind of thought my stance at address was narrow, and I think I'm over correcting a former bad habit of having a very wide stance (to the point I wasn't rotating at all). What I'm hearing, and what I've gotten after staring at these videos for hours, is that a lot of the issues seem to be tied to the over-rotation.
  17. Hi all- Been reading for a few weeks now, first real post. I've recently started playing a lot of golf again after a playing sparsely for a few years. Overall, I'm happy where my game is going, but I've seem to hit a wall in terms of scoring, and its due to consistency issues. With my driver, I can't hit a repeatable shot. My common miss lately is a power hook left, and I think its because I'm getting my hips open early-I can usually catch and fix this before it ruins 4 holes in a row for me. More troublesome is a high fade (not really a slice, but it ends up about 30 yards off center) that comes out of nowhere. This is trouble, because I usually draw the ball a little and tend to play down the right side of holes because of this. So when I bust out the fade, I end up way way right and in jail, or worse, in the woods. I have uploaded videos of my swing (iron and wood) from both angles, and any feedback (negative or positive) would be appreciated. Hopefully some day I'll get to the point where I can return the favor. 18. 1. Hit driver consistently-if its a fade, draw, whatever. I know I can hit it 300, but I'll be happy with 250 if I can put it where i want it. 2. Improve around the green-any chip inside 30 is a crap shoot at this point. 3. More two putts-Too often I'm misreading speed and leaving myself with 7 foot par putts. 4. Get handicap to 10. I'd like to be shooting low 80s by the end of the summer.
  19. I love the epoch tees-I bought a small bag in jan. and I think I still have 35 left after about 30 rounds. I've only broken two that I know of, I usually just lose them.
  20. If I'm swinging right, its a 3 iron. Otherwise I'll play 5 iron then wedge if I'm having a crap round.
