practice swing and actual swing are so far apart
Liam84 replied to golf-mad's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Certainly different but one thing I noticed is you don't "set up" in what you call your good practice swing, you kind of stay in motion, don't start things off by having the club rest behind the ball. I would give that a try when hitting, see if by not "stopping" prior too the shot might let you make a fuller turn. -
I use a push cart every round I walk, the difference in fatigue vs carrying is really noticeable. I am 30 yo and play soccer competitively, I guess you could say I'm in "above average fitness shape" and carrying still takes a lot out of me phisically. The benefits of the added rest from pushing and not carrying my bag, both during and after the round are inmense. I use a SM Micro Cart and consider it one of the best golf purchases I ever made.

Ok, here are a couple more recent, and certainly worse, swings. I can't seem to find any FO ones, I'll try to get one the next time I hit the range. I'm counting on you to improve so please shoot me your opinions, tips, advice, insults, whatever (actually I think no insults would be better! ) Thanks

Thanks for the help, that's a great tip! Sorry for the crappy vids, I think I have some better quality ones where I.m hitting it much worse, I'll try to post those and see if I get any more tips. Once again thanks for the advice

I volunteered at Congressional last year, you couldn't take your phone/camera/or any other electronic device for that matter inside the gates ON TOURNAMENT DAYS, they were allowed though on practice days. There were tents set up at each entrance where you were able to "check" your forbidden devices in a bag they provided and retrieve them upon your exit, I did exactly that on the first day and had absolutely no problem. The following days though, I just left everything in my car. Nonetheless I saw some folks walking around with their phones during tournament days, don't know how they managed to get them in or if it was easy or not, never really tried myself.

I was wondering if you could be so kind as to explain how and why wedge technique can improve by using the correct wedges, or at least show us what unproper wedge technique looks like. After reading your article I am absolutely certain that my wedges fit me horribly, which is quite logical given the fact that the "fitting" process consisted of trying out a friend's gap wedge, but cannot quite grasp what "flaws" or compensations they might generate in my wedge game. I understand the thread is about the wedges and not technique but given that they seem to have an impact on it I might help to know with a little more detail what you are talking about. Thanks

Great Golf Instruction Tips, Videos and Articles
Liam84 replied to mvmac's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
This thread is absolutely fantastic!! There are, however, some "private" videos I can't watch. is there any way to acces them?? -
Thanks again for your replys, your description of my swing flaws are great! They are the exact issues I struggle with. I will be working on all the things you mentioned in my next practice session. I am in fact one of Einar´s students but I haven´t been able to take lessons as often as I would like. He sure is a great teacher and a better guy, I´ll tell him about your kind words next time I see him.

Thanks so much for your answer. I do tend to hit many pushes due to the "stuck" I get sometimes. My biggest concern these days was my left arm which tends to bend too quickly after impact. I`m having a tough time keeping my arms extended through the impact zone and I think your annalysis gives a pretty good explanation as to why it is so. I do have a question though, in trying to get my backswing more in line with my shoulder plane, should I conciously look for more steep arms going back or is that a consequence of some other part I`m not doing right? Thanks again for taking the time to look at my swing and giving me some help.

Hi guys, been a member from quite a while and finally decided to post my swing, not really my best ones but they´re the ones I have recorded. i haven´t been able to play as much as I would like these past few months, but plan to start doing it more regularly now that the summer is coming (well, at least for me ). Please feel free to share any thoughts, tips, corrections, comments, jokes, whatever really, they´ll be greatly appreciated.

Tom Wishon on being fit for clubs
Liam84 replied to glock35ipsc's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've read this thread carefully and understand the benefits of being fitted correctly. My problem is I live in a place where it's absolutely impossible to get fitted properly. The options available are limited to a static fitting in most cases, and there's not really the possibility of trying many heads/shafts combinations either in irons or woods at the places that promise a "real fitting" experience. Next month I'm travelling to the US to attend the US Open at Congressional and wanted to really take advantage of this opportunity and get fitted in the best possible way. What do you recommend as far as places to do it and the approach in general to the whole process? -
I can's see the video, says it's private! =(

Pro golfers are, statistically speaking, Risk Averse. In an article in Slate magazine some time ago the author pointed at a stat that showed that pros putt way better for par than they do for birdie. Also to the point, the article mentioned a system called "Shot Value" which basically measures how many strokes would it take a scratch golfer to hole out from any given location on a course based on statistics. That way you could be standing at the tee of a par 4 and now that it actually is a 4.6 hole. the real beauty of the "shot value" system is that by adding the different values each of your strokes had you could actually see yourself picking up or giving up strokes to the course much more accurately.

Shaft Suggestions (Fitting Data included)
Liam84 replied to Liam84's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Before anything else, thanks for the help! The problem with the VS Proto is that I don't own one , I got fitted with a friend's driver since mine broke I would preffer a mid ball flight and probably a mid-low torque shaft. Would a Matrix Ozik x-con 6 suit my swing? -
I am looking to change my driver and I need help deciding on which shaft to choose. I was fitted recently but the results where not quite clear. Here are my stats with an Aldila Vs Proto: Clubhead Speed - 98 Ball Speed - 142 Launch Angle - 13.9 Ball Spin - 2478 Swing Tempo - Fast What shaft would you recommend?

Tiger and Phil paired toghether for the final round??

Has anyone tried this driver?? Any opinions on the Habanero shaft??
