When you know your golf equipment is old...
Lefty2380 replied to Indian Sensation's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
old isnt necessarly bad though...if you hit them well there is no need to change equipment...i have taylor made 360 irons...those are what, 6 or 7 years old? it all depends on how you hit them -
space travel has already been invented...or so ive seen...i guess maybe the whole idea of a space shuttle was a big hoax...hmm i know what you meant though...and so i want to leave with the knowledge that i changed someones life for the better...and it'd be even better if it was someone i didnt know very well...

hahaahaha and i cannnnnnnnnnnt wait! but if you read it all, you'll see that it wasnt my fault, right?

shot a commanding 67 at my home course to take home some cash and some pro shop credit (came in 1st gross in a tourney) had 3 birds on the front to shoot 3 under and had 2 birds and 2 bogs on the back... Didnt take out the driver once and i still had an eagle putt on a par 5...

alright jeepthrills just for you... We kinda got ourselves in a bit of a mess because i pushed him and he fell onto a display rack and broke a brand new TaylorMade Dual Hybrid...and he wanted me to pay for it but the pro said if he (the bad guy of the story) didnt pay for it he would bring him up on charges of harassing an employee (or some official legalality of the sort) so he paid for the club and i had to go in front of the comitte and explain to them why i pushed a member and whatnot...it was total bullshit because people saw waht happened, including the pro...but nothing came of it, and i didnt get in any trouble and so the job continues until college this fall....

im a hugeeee equipment junkie...my dad and i have a workshop in our back shed and we spend a lot of time together making custom clubs and whatnot, just to mess around with different combonations...its a large workshop and i wont tell the secret as to how we get our stuff (no, we dont pull a heist on golfsmith) but Im beginning to hit a lot of what we make in my spare time...Its a worthwile hobby to me...for now i hit market clus though...

I've worked at a private course for 3 years now and we've only had one incident remotely close to this from what i recall... ...it was my first year there and i was working during the opening round of the annual Invitational, which is the biggest tournament up there. It was sometime in the afternoon and we were setting up for the round, putting the bags on the carts and whatnot, and since its a private course the members are able to store their bags there. so a guy comes in and asks if i can get his clubs...naturally, being the amazing employee that i am, i say sure and go look for them. they arnt in the bag storage so i tell him he must have them or they are already on a cart so i help him look and they arnt. i ask him if he has them and he says no and starts to look himself. then as he cant find them, he starts a ruckus and is telling the pro, my boss, that i stole them or took them so he couldnt play. meanwhile im in the background thinking this guy has lost it. he then starts telling me i need to get him new ones ASAP and starts yelling at me to get his clubs, the joke's over, etc. then he put his hand on my collar and i push him off of me (thats a whole different story) but i, as stated above, being professional, asked him for the keys to his car. he tells me they arn't in there and so i said lets go see, its at least worth a look... can anyone guess the ending to this one? SHOCKER, they're in the trunk. but it doesnt stop there. guess who was accused of putting them there? SHOCKER it was ME! haha it was insane, but *******s will pollute this place we call home forever so you learn to deal with it...i figured maybe the guy was going through something, it wasnt old age because he was 45 at most. i think he just didnt like the idea of being responsable for being a dumbass haha

wow, its good ot see this type fo response for less than a day's long post... i went with short game because you cant go wrong with it...if you can put the ball within 6 -10 feet every time (hence the title Perfect Short Game) you will score better than any player who can drive the ball 300+ yards 95% of the time, if not 100% golf is indeed a game of percentages. I have a home-made yardage book that is filled with stuff like what to hit from where, where to land the ball, where to go for it vs. where not to, stuff like that. I went out for a week straight and placed 30 balls in each relative area and hit away in groups of ten and did an average of the percentages. over 75%, its a definite go...50%-75% depends on the situation and under 50%, dont risk the game... its a lot of work but i dropped 3 strokes off the handicap within a month, now i carry it with me each time i play (so everyday). If you have the time, give it a try, it helps a TON with both managment and recovery... nobody thinks cheating is important? ---mike---

I propose this question out of curiosity...I want to see what people think the most important part of the Golf game is...if i didnt include an option that you may find more important, please let us know in here obviously it takes all of these aspects to be a great golfer, but I guess i can ask the question this way for all you you post-modernists out there... if you could PERFECT one part of your game, what would it be? there...no avoiding that one!

you think 22 is a late age?? i mean im only 17 but still...my dad picked up golf in his late 20s and hes a 12 last i checked... I think you can imporve your game at any age, and it more depends on what part you want to improve when...Example: young players focus more on distance and shot control where as when your older, you should probably focus on a tuned up short game from 150 in, it's the most important part of the game. As my dad tells me all the time when i choose to hit driver on a risky hole..."a 300 yard drive means the same as a two inch missed putt on the score card" P.S.- I pll out the big stick anyways

Cleveland makes a great product...i work with a former employee of Cleveland and he's quite the guy...a good hookup for products...makes my wedge selection quite a bit easier!!!
-
a good drill i used when facing that problem was to place a tee in the ground (at normal teeing height) about a foot behind the ball. When you take the club back, make sure to clip the tee. if you reall want to be productive, place a tee at the same height a half a foot to a foot in front of the ball and slightly inside the ball's position and try to clip both tees...it will help to keep your swing on plane...

I have played the G2 and G5 both, and of them i find that they do not add much to your game so much as help an inconsistant ball striker hain a little more confidence...the head of the club is awkward at setup to me, but i guess thats just all on prefrence...overall its a nice club but im more of a fan of callaway or TaylorMade... as for the irons, check out www.edwinwattsgolf.com or www.golfgalaxy.com they both have a great selection and good prices! (im not a sales rep hahaha) ---Mike---

The DT So/Lo is a great buy, its one of my favorites for practice...they are true to their flight and have some of thre best feel money can buy. as for the best ball for you, i would probably suggest Callaway HX Red or Blue...they are $19.99 at my pro shop and they are EXCELLENT all-round balls...the HX Hot are great balls too but they cut really easily...maybe not for you but to me the ball will last a few holes at most...

and we're just saying Hi back! welcome to the forum...
-
ahh, alright, makes a bit more sense now

do you carry too many clubs allin? sorry, i just looked at whats in your bag and maybe i counted wrong but....oh well nevermind anyways tiger played very well this weekend and he deserves this one...my prediction was right though, if phil didnt keep his head cool he'd be out of it after friday...
-
haha sorry, it was just a suggestion...i looked over the course...very nice, but you're right (not that i doubted you ) its narrow and accuracy seems to play quite the important factor in the game....
-
jesus, might i suggest killing whoever thought of a 17-yard wide fairway? thats rediculous! just lay up or drive through it I'd say...i mean its a beast of a drive but theres always hope for wind...and a visit from the holy trinity anyways im glad i dont have to deal with 17 yard wide fairways...what are the greens, 5 feet in diameter?? haha sounds like a good time to me let them consider this "Lake view Country Club: Where the Fairways are tighter than a ten year old!"
-
hahaha that was a good one...one of ym pet peeves is when a person makes a statement and then everyone pounces on the oppertunity to pick and nip at everything wrong with it...
-
17 yards wide through to the green?? now THATS rediculous...the course i mentioned above has a few areas where you would need air traffic control to land the ball near it because its so narrow, but not throughout the entire hole...either way it sounds like a nice course...i was going to go to Drexel U. but i decided against that...I do like philly though, however its got nothing on my boston!

The course i play for College has a 153 slope from the black tees (a staggering 147 from the blues that we play) and it plays more than 2 full strokes over par...It has a towering 612 yard par 5 that slopes and has a narrow fairway just to make you feel worse about an already...erm..."Eventful" first few holes... Its a beautiful course, check it out at http://www.sterlinggolf.com/ ...its The Shattuck Country Club...BEAUTIFUL place, i highly recommend it to anyone with a chance to play it... Anyways i shot pretty badly my first (and currently only) time playing it...made a lot of clutch puts that would have led to bogey or worse had i missed... The course is very much "old school" i guess you could say. its not based on length...i pulled out my driver once, the rest of the time i hit 4 or 5 iron and still could manage to reach in regulation...once i play it more i'll learn some better course managment and hopefully my scores will improve...Im going to be a Freshamn by the way so it should be a good solid 4 years at a most beautiful course...
-
haha thats because i know better...give it a few years and maybe...but for now im content with the situation of things anyways i agree with the whole hints thing but i just think you were a little hard on the guy...
