Here are my distances: driver-198 yds; 3 wood-174; 6 iron-132. I average 13/14 fairways, and 13 greens in regulation Sand saves=70_%; putts=average of 30 per round. If you want proof, then I challenge you to a match at the Monster at the Concord Hotel at Kiamesha Lake this Spring!

It amazes me that SOME OF YOU do NOT know what is on this Discussion Board. Go to Golf Courses and Architecture, and click on "Your Home Course". IMAGINE THAT-TWO POSTS BY ME ABOUT HERON CREEK. And YOU asked me what my home course is? And if you GOOGLE their name, their website pops right up! Apparently, SOME of you do NOT understand how to navigate on this website. Would you like me to TEACH YOU?

By the way, I think it is neat, and funny that you CHANGED the heading on this thread to PEZGOLF TRUTH SQUAD. I LIKE IT!

The name of the course is Heron Creek and the address is 151 Kirkland Ave. in Clinton, NY 13323. It is a 9 hole course, measuring 3,247 yards from the white tees and 3,120 yards from the senior tees. In the summer, it is a par 36 layout. In the fall, around October 1, we, the Seniors, play it as a par 38 since we cannot reach the two long 4's in 2, even hitting a perfect drive and a perfect 3 wood! The course is in a wetlands area (hence the name "Creek") and you get NO ROLL on tee shots. It is a tight course that requires excellent ball control. The greens are small targets and slant a great deal so a shot hit into the middle of the green may run off, making a chip shot necessary for the next play. The greens are fairly quick and very difficult to read. 30 putts is outstanding and very rare. 36 putts is the norm. I have numerous photos of the course and I will ask my daughter to help me post them on YouTube. Also, I have nice videos of my swing and we will post them as well. Since I did write analyses of the swings of Wayne Levi and Patty Sheehan, with their permission and approval, I am interested in what you have to say about my swing!

I will NOT mention my magazine again.

The point of this thread is similar to the one where I agreed with Tiger's criticism of SOME journalists. He said that some writers did not go out on the course to see for themselves what was happening. In my opinion, journalists cannot accurately criticize a player's failure to win unless they have "walked a mile in his or her shoes", I have seen this reflected in articles about a player "choking" or not yet winning a Major. It is one thing to write that a player missed a putt and another to say that he or she "choked". An example of this is Tom Watson's chip shot on the last hole of the 2009 Open Championship. SOME journalists were quick to question his choice of club or execution of the shot. Tom, however, took consolation in Jack Nicklaus' statement that he had made the right choice. Who was "right"-the critics or Jack?

Not true. How could ANYONE make that up. Remember this: TRUTH is STRANGER than fiction! I play from the Senior tees since I am 67!

Yes From me. I just need your mailing address, please

I never heard of PXG. I use Tour Blazer irons that are 30+ years old . I am a scratch player. There is NO WAY that new clubs are going to help me lower my scores! In fact, I would probably lose valuable time " breaking in" new clubs. I am 67 years old, for Vardon's sake! I will use my Tour Blazers until the day I die!

In order to write an article in my magazine, "The Golf News", you must have a handicap of 5 or less, have won 5 or more scratch tournaments (I.e. non-handicap), and play a 18 hole round with me and come within 5 shots of my score. Please note the MAGIC NUMBER is always "5"! And my handicap index is 1.3! Too many "journalists" do NOT have direct experience! They will not "make the cut" with me!

The Wall Street Journal got it right in its editorial on Monday, entitled "Who Lost the Saudis?" The WSJ quotes the Shiite former PM of Iraq, Nouri-al-Maliki saying the Saudi execution of the Shiite cleric Nemer al-Nemer "will topple the Saudi regine as the crime of executing the martyr al-Sadr did to Saddam Hussein". My comparison is 1979 when the Shah of Iran was thrown off the Peacock throne. The result? The Ayatollah Khoumeini! America- WATCH OUT!

Where Is Your Next Golf Trip Going to Be?
PEZGolf replied to Smidd4's topic in Destinations and Travel
My goals are to return to Hilton Head and to go to Ponte Vedra along with a visit to the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine. As I have posted on other threads, I was fortunate enough to go to the Sea Pines Plantation in 1989 and 1992, but we were not able to play Harbour Town. As to St. Augustine, I agree with the Black Knight-"For the LOVE OF GOLF, YOU must go"-to the Hall of Fame! -
Good post. I agree with you 100%!

I agree-it is a very good post. I actually like BOTH Jimmy and Rich. I think the latter did a GREAT job as the moderator on TGC's Special on Tiger. I am creating a separate thread on that show ("so much to do; do little time!"-from the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland).

You are right about Monty, but I am glad to see what he has done on that "other" Tour- he is a REAL CHAMPION on the CHAMPIONS TOUR!!
-
Tongue in cheek, eh? I would LOVE to have Jack's record!

Speaking of retirement, I am glad that I am only semi-retired. I work 30 hours a week as the bookkeeper at a Hannaford's grocery store and 30+ hours running my own golf business. I still find time yo play golf 5 times a week, usually 9 hole rounds!

My dream is to play golf in Hawaii. I am envious of you!

In 2006, my son and I went to the practice round of the Women's US Open at the Newport CC. It was great to see Annika, Laura Diaz, Juli, Michelle Wie (as David Leadbetter walked with her) and some young and upcoming stars! It was extremely windy. We also talked with Dottie Pepper, as she was making the rounds in preparation to be the on-course reporter for the tournament. I told her that Joe the Pro Merendo at the Amsterdam Municipal Course sends his greetings. She said,"You tell Joe to get down to see me this winter!" Joe has a picture of Dottie with her dog, Shank, in his pro shop at the muni. Dottie believes in doing it right, and tours the course to see the conditions, including which way the wind is blowing. The wind is a huge factor on that course. Dottie and Joe go "way back", and I remember going to a scramble fund raiser at the muni when Dottie was married to Doug Mochrie. The tournament's purpose was to raise money for Doug's father, I believe.

Sea Island, GA and Hilton Head, SC Golf advice
PEZGolf replied to kpaulhus's topic in Destinations and Travel
When we went to Harbour Town in 1989, we stayed in condos at Sea Pines, and you are right, it is the way to go. God, I wished we had bought a condo on the Ocean that was selling for $90,000. It is probably worth $600,000+ now. I wish that I had not posted that. I am going to my room to cry, and then to my favorite 19th hole to have a few drinks to forgetaboutit! -
I believe the best announcers are those who played professional golf at the highest level, and can give us insights, based on their experiences. That is why I posted about David Duval, Roger Maltbie, Brandel Chamblee, Judy Rankin, Dottie Pepper, and Frank Nobilo. It goes without saying that the same applies to the Shark, Johnny Miller, jDavid Feherty, and Nick Faldo. It does NOT apply to Kelly Tilghman, Jim Nantz, Mike Tirico, and others.

Congratulations! Nice going! Some of my fondest memories in golf are when I played with my Dad or when we played with my late brother, Steve. Both of them are now playing the best courses in Heaven, and it will be a HUGE CELEBRATION when we are reunited. Enjoy every moment with your Dad. You received the BEST Christmas ever! Congratulations again!
