I agree it was tough to see Els' hip turn with the black pants, but the analysis was good! Exciting action going on today. Matsuyama and Scott are both playing great. Bubba is all over the place.

The club did touch the ball, but as there was no movement, there was no penalty. Jack said he had probably done the same thing 10,000 times in his career and only been penalized "once or twice ."

I haven't gotten a chance to video anymore swings. I'm waiting on the upcoming wedding to get a camera! I'm still struggling with contact, but not as bad. The vast majority of my misses are thin and off the toe. Looking through my video and at other swings I'm noticing that I tend to push the butt of the club back and the start of my swing. My arms seem to get really far away from my body, and I think that this is a factor in my swaying motion. Next time at the range I'm going to try and feel my left arm closer to my chest at takeaway, and see if that helps.

Bubba'd swing really had Jack perplexed today on the commentary. Pulling for someone from the second to last pairing tomorrow, Matsuyama or Scott.

I play on an even shorter course sometimes. It's fun for me to hit a lot of different clubs from the tee, and I feel like I get good practice throughout my bag when I do so. There's no harm in giving moving back a shot, but if you want to keep up the pace and play with your group from the whites, try hitting a variety of irons off the tee. Focus on leaving yourself specific distances into the green by choosing the proper iron from the tee.

Really great looking set!

I'll definitely be following this discussion. I cannot stand to hit my 3 wood off the deck, and I've been thinking that there is really no reason for me to carry it anymore. 4 wood plus some sort of hybrid (replacing my 3-iron?) sounds like a good option.

I think y'all are taking this awfully seriously. It's clear that pros are significantly better than even the best amateurs, and I believe that's all OP was trying to convey. It's not about "hero worship," we're all adults here. We play a very difficult sport, and that there are people who can excel at the level that pros do at this game is astonishing to me. It is something worthy of admiration, because of the dedication and composure it requires to play at that level.

Went to the range last night and worked on keeping my vision very centered over the ball on my turn, and it was very successful. I was striking the ball very consistently throughout the bag. I'll get some video next week. Found that my range has a very nice putting green and worked on that for a while as well, also with good results.

I saw this on Reddit yesterday. As cool as the other side of the pillow.

This lateral move was my problem when I was playing years ago as well. Is this mostly going to be something I fix through feels alone, or are there any good drills to work on? Sometimes I feel like I get zero weight shift to my right foot when I make a centered turn, and I think this is why I'm moving so much.

I've been Playing Golf for: I played for around 6 years during junior high and high school. I took around ten years off and have just picked the game back up about 3 weeks ago. My current handicap index or average score is: I'm shooting in the +20-25 range currently My typical ball flight is: Draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Ball striking is not very consistent. I top/thin some tee shots and can hit my longer irons pretty fat. Videos: Sorry for the poor quality

Topping or blading any sort of shot is very embarrassing for me. I flat out topped a tee shot just today after I played through a foursome. They were standing about 15 yards away on the previous green

+12 48 Still really struggling off the tee, but I think I identified some of my problems today, so that's a good thing. Pitching and putting were also pretty good today.
-
Shot 93 on my first 18 since coming back to the game today. Played the up tees, 6000 yards, 70.1/134. Couldn't get off the tee to save life, I was thinning everything. Still had a good time.

Tough day at the range today. I couldn't really feel my swing properly with anything past the 7 iron, so I spent most of the time trying to take smooth, focused swings with the 9. I need to get on camera somehow.
-
I see. I also think leaving the weight back is the biggest problem in the swing posted, I just thought that perhaps it was symptomatic of the vertical movement.
-
From that angle it looks as though you are raising up a bit at the top of your backswing, which is causing you to dive down a bit in the backswing and prevents a good forward weight shift.

I talked them to $50 from $60, I think it's still a good deal. The faces were in really good shape, and I don't mind the bag chatter. -

Also, found these in an antique store today (lol). Was very close to picking them up for a mere $50. I may go back and get them tomorrow. -

Definitely the Titleist 975's. Those were the posh drivers to have back when I was playing in high school. Old Ping Anser putters. The owner of the golf course I worked at in high school had an incredible collection of them. -
Sounds fun. When I was younger I frequently played with a guy that played a few events on the Nationwide tour. He was kind of an a**hole, but man it was fun to watch him play, especially on tough courses.

I think a lot of the issues you addressed concerning cost and hours have been resolved in a lot of areas (certainly in my area). As Lihu mentioned, twilight hours are great for getting kids on the course, and for giving us a chance to play cheaper. There are a few municipal executive courses in my area which give me the chance to work on my short game for basically nothing ($11 for 18 holes walking, $18 riding). I have access to a lighted range with very reasonable prices. I think a lot of it just depends on where you live, but golf has never been cheap, and never will be. I was very fortunate growing up, as I worked at a nice little 9 hole course/lighted range as a cart boy. I got free golf and range access and deep discounts on gear.
