1. I hit 200 blls when I go practice ... its the most cost efficient too for me $15 ... under the lights ... I practice with a purpose. I do have to wear headphones with my tunes loud ... especially when the guy next to me is teaching his girlfriend or buddy ... that way I stay in my thoughts are practice zone ...
2. Here is mine https://twitter.com/isukgolf
3. Cement Bunkers with sand that is harder than a Walmart parking lot ... if you are not going to maintain them, then remove them. And courses with houses within yards of the fairway ... I hate nailing a house!
4. I would watch a the Majors ... but would lose interest I am afraid ... for me golf is going out with my buds, enjoying the banter, and a round of golf. I am also afraid that watching golf would add to the depression of not being able to play with my friends and enjoy the game I love so much ...
5. My rule is ... and I don't always adhere to it ... is not follow a bad with a worse shot ... I shank it in the woods ... instead of trying a hero shot, sometimes I am better off just chipping back out on the fairway... however, most of my blow up holes are spent being mad at the last shot, and not thinking/playing the shot I am on ... easier said than done, but forget the last even happened ... think about the shot your abut to make and think positive
6. Enjoy reading the different points of view ... I have to agree with the "its a user" issue ... you can't fix stupid ... I find that I am faster, as I get the yard almost before the cart stops and certainly before my golf partners hit ... before laser and GPS's everyone drove around looking for a sprinkler head I also only use my laser when the cart is not equipped with a GPS I just need to know the approximate distance with my handicap ... especially since I have no perception of distance; however, I have played with some people that I swear have a built in laser ...
7. As suggested, take your driver to Golf Smith or some place similar, and hit it side by side with a new driver ... its the only way for you to make the most informed decision for yourself. I have done the same after reading reviews on a club ... I go do a comparison ... I am usually very surprised. Good luck!
8. I enjoyed the series immensely. (I have watched it twice) He has definitely left indelible mark on the game of golf ... and publicly was a giving/caring person. I think he has taken more than one modern arrogant golfer behind the woodshed, for a lesson on who really pays his check ... the public (on the private side of things, I could not help but feel he was controlling, and indiscretions were swept under the carpet ... just my own view.)
9. I thought I lived in a chicken coup I used to chicken wing so much ... but have found the towel under the arm trick seems to help in practice. I think the term or thought is "stay connected" Didn't realize I did it so much until I look at photos of my swing ...
10. Happy core = happy back ... I am an I/T guy, so sitting all day is what I do ... got a workstation that allows me to stand, and that helped me a lot! So now I can alternate between sitting and standing. I would highly recommend it.
11. I do think that it would be to benefit of golf, to have some recreational rules. I too play by my own set of rules, while they are very close the "pro" rules they do encourage fast play ... Face it, I think we all agree there are some really silly rules in golf. I also have found at the recreational weekend golfer that claims to "play by the rules" will the first person in the group to break them ...
12. Manage a couple data centers in the Phx, Az area ...
13. While certainly not new a sand trap, I am new to the forums. I live in the Phx, Az area, but a native Texan. I embrace recreational golf and the fact that I suk, but enjoy the game and the time on the course with my golf buddies. I am a big proponent for relaxed recreational rules that speed play and enjoyment for recreational golfers, while maintaining the integrity of the game. I believe there is a happy medium. This looks like one sand trap that I belong in here ... If you read this far down, then thank you.
