  1. It's rare, but if there's a kidney-shaped green, you may not be able to putt at the flag since your ball would have to cross the fringe/rough. That seems rare enough to me that you want the software to assume it's a mistake - as long as you can correct it later.
  2. Huh - seems like the Motion is the only shoe in the new lineup that "checks all the boxes" for why I've bought True shoes exclusively for the past few years. As far as I can tell, the Game Changer Hybrid doesn't have zero-drop. I just bought a pair of True Tours (2014), but it's a little unnerving that they will only have one option moving forward for those that want the wide toebox, zero-drop, and spikeless. I'm curious whether they could do a spiked shoe that has zero-drop...would that work? Surprised they didn't try it since it's one of the things that has set them apart from the beginning.
  3. I played deliberately, without mental mistakes or frustration, and it helped.
  4. Amen to that. OT: What the courses in this area need is a 24-hour period without frigging rain...it has been horrible here. They had to cancel the annual July 4th regatta because the rivers were too high. I think at one point it rained for 15 days STRAIGHT.
  5. I couldn't believe it - I called my "cartmate" over to see it. I wish I had a Game Golf...that would have been a funny graphic.
  6. You misunderstood "muddy area" - this was literally a flat (dried) puddle of mud about 3 feet square, and in the rough. The carts didn't have the seed bottles, but I kind of wish they did just for how ridiculous it would have looked to fill it in.
  7. I played (sadly) my first round of the year on Sunday, at Quicksilver GC near Pittsburgh, PA. It was a "public shotgun" start, so I finished with holes #18 and #1. The two holes run parallel to one another, in opposite directions. On #18, I pushed my drive to the right, and ended up in a muddy area next to the cart path. Hit a nice iron to advance the ball up the fairway, leaving a big ol' muddy divot. Next hole, playing #1, I pushed my drive to the right... and it came to rest in my own divot from the earlier shot (I was able to take relief this time since my stance would have been on the path). It was definitely one of the weirder things I've seen; I figured I'd start a thread where everyone could share any similar stories.
  8. That was my favorite part of the Bubba Watson video, too...the cameraman was probably well positioned for the "average drive", and it just sailed over his head.
  9. When playing an actual round, I wear the glove only with the driver or fairway wood - on par 3's, or after my drive, it comes off. On the range, I'll typically wear the glove the whole time.
  10. There is a course near me (Turtle Creek - Limerick, PA) that has a version of this: they ask you to cross the rough only at 90 degrees, and not to ever park your cart in the rough. Interestingly, this course's owners have operated a turf (sod) farm since before the course even existed, so I'm guessing they know their stuff.
  11. I've had three (sadly, more than once). One of the times was in three different "hazards" - lost ball into the woods right off the tee, second tee shot into a creek, third shot into the same creek further up (this was the 18th at Paxon Hollow in Media, PA).
  12. When it's done well, I think I shoot about the same (that's what I voted for). I may leave a putt or two way short early, but long putts are easier to leave close. Also, I don't really get much spin on my wedges in the short game, so it helps quite a bit that pitches/chips don't roll out as much.
  13. Looks like TST's contextual advertising thinks he was just using the wrong brand of chainsaw.
  14. I am on my second pair of True shoes. I had a pair of the Phx and fell in love with them...when I wore them out, I bought the Proto. Couldn't be happier. I tried on a few of the minimalist offerings from other companies, and I think they may have matched the "zero-drop" sole, but none had the same room in the toebox. I don't think I'll ever own a different brand of golf shoes.
  15. Did anyone else see this thread title and think "That would result in a pull-draw, right?"
  16. A couple trailers from E3: EA Sports PGA Tour Golf 2015: The Golf Club: I think it will be great to finally have a real competitor to EA Sports. I'm particularly interested in the course-design feature - looks very cool.
  17. View of the 18th from the bar/restaurant deck at Paxton Hollow Golf Club, in Media, PA (just NW of Philadelphia):
  18. I can save myself some time - from 15', I'm going to be within a foot (long/short) with all 5, but there's no way all 5 are going to be within 1-2 inches. So, there's the answer...I guess I have just noticed that it's much WORSE on uphill/downhill putts. It sounds from your post that you go more by feel, rather than "setting" a target a certain distance short/long. So maybe my approach isn't the issue, just my poor control overall. I think I'm good there - I do sort of a metronome thing, and (I shoot for, at least) a symmetrical backswing/follow through. So...practice, practice, practice it is.
  19. My distance control is very poor on uphill and downhill putts - it is tough for me to "adjust" my speed, and I end up leaving uphill putts very short and blowing downhill putts past the hole. I don't think the problem is related to green reading - I am pretty good at determining left/right break, and I can generally tell how uphill/downhill a putt is. I just can't get the speed right off the putter. I think it may be a poor choice of technique: I think about how hard I would hit a flat putt, and then take a bit off or add a bit (ie, "I'll hit in 10% harder). That's probably a poor approach, right? I realized - after a particularly bad round on hilly greens today - that it might be better to putt to a shorter (for downhill putts) or longer (for uphill) target instead...basically, imagine a hole that is a certain distance closer/further than the real one and putt to that point. Interestingly, my approach DOES work pretty well for adjusting to fast/slow greens, but that's something that is generally consistent within a round. Thoughts?
