Really frustrated with myself today. Played a round today and shot a 110, but it should have been under 100, had it not been for four bad holes. Two holes on the front nine really killed me and I shot a 57. Back nine I started off playing great golf. I was pounding drives right now the center of the fairway for the first 4 holes. Best work off the tee ever for me. No slices, just straight, long drives. My iron play was excellent all day, minus a little accuracy trouble. Wasn't topping anything, just a few pushes and pulls. Then, two holes ruined a perfectly good looking 9, by my standards. Lost two balls on the 15th and that really killed me. Pulled a drive on 16, recovered decently, would have been on in 3, but I thinned a PW and put another ball in the woods, making it three balls lost in two holes. Then I didn't play well on the next hole which was a par three. Took a 5 there, so not exactly great. Not sure what went wrong, but beating myself over it.

I always try to remember to take it off while putting. I have enough problems as it is when putting and I honestly believe that I get a better feel without it when putting.

Alice Cooper and golf. Now there's two things that I would have never thought would go together.

Many Japanese golfers carry hole-in-one insurance, because it is traditional in Japan to share one's good luck by sending gifts to all your friends when you get an ace. The price for what the Japanese term an albatross can often reach $10,000. Link

When you say left and right you mean my actual right hand and my actual left hand, not left and right in the picture, correct? I think I might just need to strengthen my grip a little, is that a fair assessment? Whenever I try to though, it seems like I'm gripping the club too hard and I know you're not supposed to do that. As far as the interlocking grip goes, I used to use it, but it just got uncomfortable and I've found the overlapping is something that's a lot more comfortable and easier to work with.

Oh, absolutely. I was just saying that surprisingly, I've hit good shots with that terrible stance. Now that I know that's what my stance used to look like, it's ingrained in my mind, so I make sure to bend at the hips now and get a nice posture. Hopefully the rest of my swing is okay and this helps quite a bit.

My parents use an American Express card for most of the stuff they buy and AE has that reward points program where you earn points for however much you spend. Well, my parents have a bunch of unused points and they said they'd let me get a golf club with some of the points. Well, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get a wedge. The Callaway X-Forged Chrome wedge, which I've been looking at is only like 15,000 points and they said that'd probably be fine since it wouldn't use up all their points. Well, I went to the site and I added the wedge to the cart, but it doesn't let you choose any specifics. You can't pick the degree, bounce or anything, so I'm not really sure what I'd even be getting. It doesn't say anywhere in the description what it is, beside a Callaway X-Forged Chrome wedge. So now I don't know what to do. I don't want to order it and have it end up being something I don't want, but a free club would be awesome. I think tomorrow I might give American Express a call and ask them or something. Otherwise I don't know what to do.

I don't own any Callaway equipment yet nor have I used any of the new stuff on the course, but I really love the feel of their new equipment. The Squareway woods are absolutely fantastic, I love how the X20 irons feel in my hands and the FT-5 feels great. Like I said, this is all based on feel and not actually hitting anything yet, but I love their new stuff compared to their old stuff, which I think is good, but their new stuff is just that much better.

100k is a lot to me. I'm from Wisconsin and live about 40 minutes from Madison. My parents don't make 100k a year and they are in the process of building a 300k home closer to Madison. 100k might not be a life of luxury like Tiger and Phil are leading, but 100k is plenty to give you a good life.

I don't own them, but I have had a chance to hit them and the Callaway Squareway woods are absolutely amazing. I'd recommend checking them out. They're pretty pricey, but maybe you can find a used one or maybe you're not strapped for cash like me and can buy one.

Me too, but I actually have always liked Phil. If Rocco wasn't out of it, I'd be rooting for him, but I hope Phil takes it.

Didn't know everyone lived in New York City. $100,000 gets a single person A LOT in most US cities and gets most families quite a bit most places in the country.

Well, believe it or not, I've hit some darn good shots with that posture before, lol. Unless I subconsciously only do it at certain times during the round, which is actually a possibility. I took those pictures after I went for a run and I was a bit tired. Lately I've been noticing my play to get worse in the middle, back of my round. Might be that as I get tired, I get sloppy and hunch over.

What is your club from 100 yards
jrode replied to onthehunt526's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Pitching wedge, since that's all I have right now for wedges. Struggle with 100 yards in though, thin my PW far too much and end up shooting a line drive over the green. -
Never thought a picture would show so much, but I can tell from a few pictures of my stance that there's definitely a lot wrong. This is not how I had envisioned my stance looking. Way too upright I'm assuming. Kind of embarrassing actually, I look really goofy. I'll also see if I can find some way to upload a video of my swing. Here I am with the driver... And 7-iron...

Yeah, I was excited for the coverage today because Rocco teed up at 12:59 EST I believe and their coverage started at 2 EST, yet, they've only shown about one shot of Rocco so far in two hours of coverage. He's played 12 holes according to the live scoring on PGA's website and I haven't seen them cover a hole of him, just one putt I think. Granted he's 6 shots back, you'd still think they'd show him.

Does anyone else usually find it annoying how they only follow a certain number of players around for the round? I get that guys near the top usually get a lot of coverage, but I'd like to see them show more players instead of, for example today on the Golf Channel all they've been showing is Retief Goosen, Vijay, Sergio, Padraig, Justin Leonard, etc. They haven't even shown my guy Rocco at all yet I don't think. I guess what I'm trying to say is I wish they'd diversify their coverage more instead of following certain guys around the whole round. I can understand that on Sunday you want to follow the leaders, but on Thursday and Friday at least, show more of the field.

For 18 holes during the week and during the season at my local course it is $34.00 just to walk and $41.00 on weekends. Add $17.00 per person to those prices for the cart. I don't understand why cart prices are so outrageous. It's not like it costs them that much to maintain carts and especially now that my local course has electric ones, they don't have to pay for any gas.

Phil put together a very nice round today and he's sitting at the top of the leaderboard. Rocco has struggled today, hopefully he can get a few back and position himself for the weekend though.

I played my first round yesterday with the Maxfli Noodle Long & Soft ball and I really liked the way it played.

Nonsense? Or was that sarcasm?

Actually I think most pros use the overlap grip. But the two most successful players ever, Tiger and Jack use the interlocking grip.

This is probably the most disturbing thing I've ever read and I got a bit nauseous after reading it. The world is coming to an end. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/st...a.html?ref=rss
