  2. Hi Next year on the longest day i will play a golf marathon from 5am to 10pm. i want to record all of my medal scores on every hole on a device which will work out the best aggregate 9 front and back best 18 and worst. can anyone recommend an easy to use app or software for use on computer or phone? I reckon i will do more than70 holes thanks Rob
  3. Hi As my previous posts will testify I've been there and still am. I find it dull paying golf so I tried lots of crazy things to keep it going, then I discovered no matter what's did I would still pay my fees and play every opportunity I got. So I asked myself why? Simply put when it's good it's addictive and when it's bad I don't care. It's that change in attitude to disregard the bad as unimportant in your life that counted for me. When it's bad I looked if there was a degree of commonality by writing down all my shots on a pad whilst playing. Discounting bad bounces and bad luck I isolated the problem to be going for it off the tee and chips over obstacles which was ruining my scores. So I cut back the power on the tee went for position over distance and put the fear of obstacle chips in the back of my head and committed to the shot. I improved and I score better but I keep analysing as there are other aspects that occasionally go wrong and that's how I improve. It's still dull but I still play so I guess that's even waining I just need to let time eradicate that issue.
  4. Hi I started with blades in 1985 as there was little else around unless you could afford ping. My second set that year was Ben hogan apex 2 from the 70s. I got pretty decent then gave up golf for 20 years. When I returned I got some big berthas could not stand em so went back to hogans ( which I kept) still no good then got some lynx predator handicap went from 21 to 15 in six months. I got a set of mizuno tzoid pro 2 and handicap dropped to 11. I now have set of titliest zm forged and I absolutely love em. Yes a bad shot is bad but I think you don't have to be pro or near pro standard to enjoy blades. In short if you like the look of them behind the ball and through the ball then stick with blades or cavity whatever you fancy. I personally do not think any club will improve my game it's about being comfortable and sticking with what you've got and like. I like blades so I use em despite fellow gofers saying they are "only for low handicaps" which I hear all the time. What do you use or try?
  5. You're Never a 14 handicap! Hitting balls like that!!! End of round Nice playing with you, you scored net 80, you know you should really stay out of bunkers! Attributed to my fellow members, all of them did any one see that? No I hate golf Probably happens to everyone
  6. " a stretched quimosine" an elongated fanny that has taken to many people for a ride. From Rogers profanisaurus viz comics Genius
  7. Hi I am looking to advertise a skins comp to be played in August at my course for our regular members. Can anyone provide me with some admin rules for it eg prize allocation, shared pot division, different prizes per hole for not the lowest score etc. Looks like we will have 30 players paying £20 each. Handicap limit of 15 + 5 qualifier cards. Thanks
  8. Hi I have played now three times a week for over five years I'm a member of a good club and won a couple of comps. My holiday is usually golf inspired, my clubs are good and I have all the gear I need. I fluctuate around12 handicap I'm a popular approachable committee member too. The thing is for two to three years now I have struggled with liking golf. I can't watch it on tv it's too dull, old fashioned and mainly about covering tiger or putting. As far as playing is going its too long and not exciting anymore to be fair I don't think it ever was exciting. I like holiday golf which is at odds with everyday golf. I m sure everryone goes through this but no one seems to talk about it. I would like to see an honest review on golf and find out how to get through this because if I don't fix it I'm not going to renew membership . Whats your thoughts fellow golfers?

  11. I can sympathise with you and I was there a year or so back. Quitting seemed easier than bringing the golf moans into the clubhouse,at home or with friends. The moans are a big thing in my observations of golf. Everyone is guilty of it " what did you shoot" usually answered with should of been better if it wasn't for blah blah. I tried really hard for 6 months through winter saying the same thing each time I was asked how did you go. I smiled and replied great I really enjoyed myself. It was this and the realisation that if I did give it up what else would I do? It turned out nothing so if its the only thing I do and I play rubbish what's the point in moaning about it. With this new found vigour for the game and adopting an alien attitude of always being positive low and behold I got better at golf lost 4 shots and I am always welcome in four balls partner comps and team events. In short if you think you can do with out and you subscribe to the clan of moaners then give it up. If you can't think what you will replace it with and have the courage to only be positive (even if challenged your only brag is about one shot) you should stick it out.
  12. My first eagle... Which has yet to happen but I've been close. Don't care if its an ace a two or a three when it happens THAT will be my best shot. Fingers crossed. ;)
  13. Hi all Well this is my first post and I am glad to say I have really enjoyed the varying replies. Thank you all. The sore hands and sweaty palms details I understand and I don't suffer 1 because the temp in UK is low and 2 I don't use ranges so constant swinging in my mind would warrant a glove to maintain a grip. But I seriously doubt me or anyone else would have sweaty palms in every game except for hot days. I don't like to compare other sports but I always found it a bit odd we tend to use one glove and other sports its two and for a purpose goalkeeper batsmen etc. I have played tennis and thought gloves would be handy as you re constantly drying hands and handles. I shall continue gloveless. Happy swinging
  14. Will check but think I have two apex ii 1 irons
  15. Hi all I have been golfing for serious for over five years now. Handicap started at 18 went slowly up to 23 then rapidly down to 13. This year I turned up for a club match and used different bag and forgot to pack a glove. It was a hot day and I played well. I turned up two days later for a friendly and STILL forgot about glove. Paid it no mind and played well. I have played for two months now with a glove and without and I honestly can say it makes no difference. I told my father about it and he tried it and is now on his 10th game gloveless and has reported he too can't fathom out what the difference is. He is a 7 handicap and putts without a glove. I'm a 13 and only took glove off at end of round. I would be interested on your tales and if you re willing to try it for a while and report back. I know about freddy couples so don't want to go that route as pros are not us. So keep this about golfers and leave the famous out of it. Happy swinging.
