  1. Played 8 rounds in 4 days with a pair of golf shoes that were one size too small. By the 7th round I could barely walk, had blisters and callouses pretty much on every toe and all up and down the sides of my feet. Possibly the most pain I've been in starting that 7th round.
  2. I would say worry about your own game. You know how well you're playing, and how well he's playing. If you're not playing for money or anything important, then don't worry about it. Golf is supposed to be fun, let it be.
  3. Being that I'm a twin myself, found this: Identical twins John and Desmond Rosser scored holes-in-ones in consecutive rounds while playing at New Zealand ’s Auckland Golf Club in 1975. http://www.britain.tv/unbelievable_f...the_game.shtml Crazy!
  4. Oh you're right my bad, its away at Mich / Wisc / Missou. From what I've read and heard our defense should be pretty good, got some good recruits and decent LB's filling in for Lehman. You're right though, no one will replace Mendenhall, gonna miss him a ton.
  5. I'm gonna take a longshot and say Illinois! Juice, if he can get his passing game together, should have quite a year. Just need to win at OSU and Michigan, which will be tough but doable.
  6. Center and platoon Swisher and Konerko at first base. Ozzie was saying he wants to sit Konerko for 4-6 games to give him a mental break. Also keep in mind that Griffey won't play every day most likely, so he'll probably split time with Anderson and Wise in center, or potentially DH to give Thome rest. Edit: He also could be used as a very potent left-handed bat in pinch-hit situations, and as a defensive replacement for Dye / Quentin in later innings.
  7. They got two prospects: pitcher Nick Masset and second baseman Danny Richar. Richar was one of our top picks a few years ago, and Masset has pretty decent stuff, but probably needs a few more years to put it together. Not a bad trade for them at all.
  8. The decline of the economy is definitely a major factor. Hell there's a public course near me that just jacked up its rates to 50+$ for 18 and a cart, and its not even that good of a course (Chick Evans). When park district courses are that pricey, it really discourages novices from coming out.
  9. Pending an OK from Griffey cause he's a 10 and 5 player, he'll be wearing black and white tonight! Hopefully he stays healthy enough and can produce for the White Sox World Series run.
  10. I usually play you find it its yours, but I generally give the balls I find to guys who have lost a couple so far in the round.
  11. That's something I haven't looked into. There must be a golf club, there really isn't an activity or sport you can find that doesn't have a club at U of I. It's ridiculous.
  12. I normally play at the University course, which has a Blue and Orange course, both 18 holes, with the Orange being substantially harder than the Blue. It's very very well priced for students: I think it's about 30$ to play 18 and ride on the weekend, less during the week. Also a grass driving range, practice green, putting green, and a nice pro shop.
  13. That sucks man. The other day I was on the 18th, a mid-range par 5. I hit my third shot from about 200 out just to just outside the fringe in the rough, about 10 feet from the pin. I proceeded to skull my chip, send it 60 feet from the pin, and 3 putt for a very frustrating double bogey!

    God is crying!?

I'll play until the greens get standing water on them and / or lightning starts to strike. Just pointless playing if the course gets saturated.
  15. What suburb? I'm in Park Ridge for the summer.
  16. Hi everyboy, just found these boards a few days ago and must say I'm impressed. I go to school at University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and am currently trying to break 100, and getting closer (but not getting there!) every round.
  17. Would have to be the UIUC Big Ten course: http://www.uofigolf.com/
  18. Structural engineering student finishing up my last year of college at U of I in Urbana-Champaign.
  19. Golden Bear without a doubt, he's my namesake!
