I think if I can keep the ball on the golf course, that'll be an achievement in itself.

I'm going out to hack it around tomorrow and will report back on what happened.

I just used a website to calculate my handicap and apparently it's 21, so I'm joining the race to break 90.

47-46 93 the last time I played. I made 7 pars and kept the ball on the golf course the majority of the time, so that was good. Going out again tomorrow to see if I can do better.

65 degrees today, and I'm heading out to the course right now for my second round of the season. Hopefully it doesn't rain.

Probably around a 100, if I'm lucky. It's just my second round of the season.

Well, I went out in 40 degree weather on Sunday and the course was definitely open, albeit with some of the tees and greens screwed up not a little.

How about the Allergic to Walking Guy? This guy will top the ball 15 feet, get in his cart, drive up to the ball, get out of the cart, top it 15 feet again, get in the cart, drive up to the ball, etc, all the way up the fairway. I've had the misfortune of playing with several of these individuals in the past.

First round of the season today. Shot something like 120, I don't even want to know the exact score. Almost every shot was topped or bladed. The only thing that was decent was my putting. Just to give you some perspective, I used to shoot consistently in the 90s. Hopefully the second round of the season goes better. Perhaps I can write this one off as just being out of practice.

Good points. I think handicaps are designed to remedy this problem because they take the course and tees you play into account.

Somehow I doubt I will score well, considering 1) I suck at golf, 2) this is my first round of the season, and 3) the course conditions will not be ideal. But I will try to have fun and shoot something in the 90s at least.

Yes, the snow today has been inconsequential and will be gone by tomorrow. I anticipate the course being open tomorrow, and me being on it.

Will the balls really get plugged so badly they are going to be lost? I may have to reconsider playing on Sunday. There's supposed to be rain on Saturday, but I thought since the sun will be out Sunday it would be all right.

So all my balls will get buried? Or will it be close to normal?

As many people have stated, his instructional videos are not the best so I don't watch them. However, I do watch a lot of the course vlogs and find them very entertaining.

Well, this isn't a par 3 course really. The longest hole is 80 yards, haha. So he'll have a club he couldn't hit much farther than that if he tried.

That sounds like a good idea. However, since the range here is absurdly expensive, I'll see what I can teach him in the park with a club and some rubber practice balls. Then maybe some putting on a carpet, and then we'll risk the pitch-and-putt.

Well, at least they're advancing the ball in some way. We're talking about someone who's barely held a club before. He could just hack at the ball a couple of times on each hole and then pick up, but that wouldn't be much fun for either of us. Can complete beginners actually hit the ball consistently?

Hello everyone, An acquaintance of mine has asked me to introduce him to golf. I thought I would start by bringing him to the pitch-and-putt course, but I thought that it would be better for him first to acquire some basic level of proficiency, such as being able to hit the ball with the club most of the time. My question is, when would it be acceptable for someone to play the pitch-and-putt course? It's just an average pitch-and-putt course, there are people hacking around it all the time, but just how bad is a complete beginner?
