  1. Interesting, bad experience? Why such a statement?
  2. Can any correlations be made from swing problems related to weight? For example, could a change from heavier swing weight to lighter correlate to hitting fat shots? I'm trying to educate myself on swing weight and I'm finding it more difficult to find a lot of information on the topic by traditional searching. Preference must be the result of performance so what performance changes have you experienced going from heavier to lighter, vice versa? The most info I've found specific to swings and swing weight is a slower, smoother swing would benefit from higher swing weight.
  3. How have you grooved your in-out swing?
  4. That's exactly what I said yesterday after 3 straight holes in the bunker. Bad clubs. Maybe I missed the suggestion but why not go to Golfsmith and pick up a used set of clubs and get lessons. There is going to be improvement from both equipment and lessons. I don't think there is just a one and done answer. You can get decent used sets for $200 (Mizuno MX-25s for $250) and even less at places like Play It Again Sports. So for the price of one to two lessons you could have a set that will improve your game and still have $ left over for lessons. If you're working with a $200 total budget, well, you're probably talking about (2) 1 hour lessons. I think you'd get more benefit from simply posting a video of your swing and taking the advice of the great players on here (wish I was one of them) and following their recommended drills. I just confirmed that suspicion by putting $100 into a lesson to kick off the year. Well, I get just as much great instruction from video analysis on this site.
  5. I'm not sure if there is another issue that continues to come up that is so polarizing. Get 'em, don't get 'em. I'm definitely in the camp of "get what you want". Its a freaking game. To some of us its not and if its less "game" and more "golf makes me crazy and I'm obsessed with lowering my scores" then super GI irons are for you. BUT, God bless you if you can go out, shoot whatever score you put on the card and love all of your clubs. I think this is what we all strive for. So, here is my recommendation. Maltby has made what you're looking for... Its not magically forgiving but probably on the highest end of playability. Also, with the price so low, you can put together a set for a song, set up to a thin top line and LOVE your flush shots. And if you're looking for Project X Flighted 5.0 shafts for the heads, let me know. http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_MA0062
  6. I'm looking for a few drills or swing thoughts that have helped keep your hands leading the clubhead and stop flipping wrists at impact. Also, on another note, can/how much could club length lead to fat/deep divot shots? Is it too basic to make a correlation to club length that after my practice rounds I have a very consistent 3/4" divot line across the face of my irons? As long as I'm making solid impact prior to the ground I'm getting good results, but its still an awfully deep divot. I know there are a lot of factors that goes into ball striking, but, I'm being specific to club length.
  7. I'd like to start a thread where you can explain your username. There are many times I wonder, why that name? Not to pick on any one person, but I have to ask, "DavidFehretysBike"? That is an interesting one... I guess I should start but I think mine is pretty self-explanatory... I'm a University of Kansas Jayhawk, the 23 got added a long time ago because jhawker became a pretty popular username across the internet. So, the 23rd is my birthday. Haven't had a "used" username yet.
  8. Those... videos... are... AWESOME. They may or may not help your game, but they are guaranteed to entertain you. Its somewhat difficult to determine if its more comedy than instruction. Either way, its great info in the best possible format for enjoyment.
  9. This looks great, checking into this course. Thanks for the update and pic! Looks like $89 for a weekend after 1 p.m. Is there a reason the twilight rate starts so early? Most places I've played don't start a discount until 4 p.m. Most of the courses around Miami all start discounting at 1 p.m..
  10. MGP and rudygu, great ideas! I already have a shotgun cleaning rod, I have no idea why I didn't think of that with the different attachments! Brilliant!!!!!
  11. 1 out of 4 ain't bad. When you look 60 at 32, isn't that just a distinguished look? This is actually the motivation I need to get back on the treadmill. With an extra piece of fruit and some walking I could be 4 for 4 and looking 45 in no time.
  12. No one is going to make the black glove = Tony D'Annunzio (Caddyshack) reference??? I'd buy a black glove and a pack of smokes just to step up to the tee, take a puff and make a little shimmy. H$ll, that would guarantee me taking the first hole. "Well I ain't paying no 50 cents for no coke..."
  13. Yeah, the solvent would help release the glue, however getting the tape out of the grip is the real tricky part. I was wondering if they soaked in mineral spirits could you blow out the tape with an air compressor? Its become more of a challenge than anything at this point.
  14. Everyone's talking about Tiger being distracted, maybe Hank's distracted peddling his 534th training aid...
  15. Anyone know of a way to remove some old grip tape from inside of a saved grip? I was thinking a lot of work with mineral spirits and a long set of forceps but I'm not sure I could find forceps that long... No need for the posts about "why would you save the grip, go buy new ones, etc." These are New Decades with only a few rounds on them. So, at 8 bones a piece with 5 grips, I'd prefer a little work and save them.
  16. Can this shaft be replaced with an aftermarket shaft? It has some funky bend to it. Its just a curiosity... I'm just curious about a heavier shaft and if a more traditional bend would accomplish the same thing without the beautiful curve it has now. Please, no posts about "why would you want to screw this up, it was built that way for a reason, etc." This is a technical question. I'm 99.9 % sure of the answer. Sorry for the ridiculous thread, I don't see a way to delete it.
  17. So simple yet so true... I need to do this very thing.
  18. Check out Tour Tempo. Just started with it last week and have a noticeable difference in tempo. Seems to easy too work, but in no time you'll be SWING.... SET.. THROUGH and striking the ball better. Its a bit of an amazement. I listened to the tracks and thought, I trusted the reviews and wasted my money on SWING SET THROUGH over and over. Yep and it was well worth it. Now my swing thought is tempo and it removes a lot of the other rubbish that tries to destroy me.
  19. What drills help to groove this? This plagues me. I feel this is a major reason I'm casting the club. I will be posting video on this. It would be great if some of you could give me an idea about the hip movement.
  20. I think Miccosukee is going to be the choice... Thanks for all of the help everyone!
  21. For what it's worth, I'm coming around to the PX's. On well-struck shots I like the performance. They are still a little too flexible at a 5.0. I did install dampening inserts which really took the sting out the of fat shots. I also have had a low ball flight for a long time so I can't speak to a lower trajectory since it appears about the same as before with the s300s, which is somewhat concerning since these are 5.0's. Going to a 5.5 may not be a good move vs. S300s. It can't hurt to try the different combos.
  22. I'm having a difficult time translating tilt to the left and stand up. I don't know if this is happening naturally by keeping the weight centered or if I should be making more of a concious effort which would help ball striking. I just started S & T on Sunday. The standing up portion is really confusing me. I can't get a feel of standing up in a backswing. Any good drills or explanations? Also, I don't believe I have a good handle on sliding the hips. I saw the youtube video throwing a large rock, unfortunately I don't have access to a large rock and place to throw it.
  23. Great, out of all of these, could you rank the top 2 or 3?
  24. Key West Golf Club looks like a hole. That virtual tour is classic. A 30 yd wide netting hallway. We've arranged plans so we could open up Miami and anywhere in the area. Any additional suggestions? We're playing 2 days before a rate change of $110 to $60... SUCK. Won't be playing Crandon Park...
